Re: How Do I Convert Stroked Objects to Filled Shapes?

There is a reason Illustrator-CC costs 240 bux /year....( I mean besides Adobe's money grubbing tentacles. ) The Adobe engineers have built a very powerful feature-set to establish dominance in the commercial realm. Anyway, welcome aboard, it's possible you may find you never want to use anyth...

Re: How Do I Convert Stroked Objects to Filled Shapes?

From Adobe : Expanding objects enables you to divide a single object into multiple objects that make up its appearance. For example, if you expand a simple object, such as a circle with a solid-color fill and a stroke, the fill and the stroke each become a discrete object. https://helpx.adobe.com/il...

Re: Line height spacing problem in 0.92.2

The report is concerning legacy text line spacing.

This actually is more helpful than a tangentally related bug report :

Re: Line height spacing problem in 0.92.2

Not a bug.

http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... ne_Spacing

Might be a change to the ui, to make the tools easier to understand.

You can click the TT button to adjust the "outer text element" min spacing, and then adjust the inner elements.

Re: How Do I Convert Stroked Objects to Filled Shapes?

There's no single click operation to do that expand function in inkscape. I'd duplicate the object, kill the stroke on the top object, then send it to the back. Then, I'd path to stroke the top object and be done. It wouldn't be too difficult to create an extension that performs the operation, but a...

@buggy, feel free to share some examples.

Another resource you might enjoy is Kay's blog: http://cleversomeday.com/

Kay knows both Inkscape and DS.

Re: please help- eclipse fill and stroke

PS
The entire Inkscape version and build number can be easily copied and pasted from the top right of the Help>About window to the forum reply page and we can then know precisely which version you are using.

You can put the files in a zip-file and attach like this.

Re: please help- eclipse fill and stroke

I'd try two things:

Set the opacity in the lower-left of the status bar to 100, it says zero. (But sometimes it lies)
Click the last icon in the ellipse controls bar at the top of the viewport. It will make the segment into a complete ellipse.

Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

Seems quite complex, and the unfortunate result (so far) is that while the lateral distortion is improved with perspective, the bottom arc of the object no longer fits the envelope. :(

Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

If you do it like TD with the grid of squares, you'd need to measure the length of the bottom arc to know how wide the deformed thing needs to be at the bottom. The bottom arc length is easily known. But the amount of distortion I applied needed to be about 3x the difference between the length of t...

Re: inkscape slow ?

Another issue that can slow down loading is a large number of files in the MRU list, or large files in that list.

I'd clear the MRU list and set it for just a handful of previously used files.

Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

You can get pretty close using some of the above technique and instead of perspective/envelope, use Bezier Envelope on each letter/block pair. Then trim letter bottoms with a boolean like demonstrated. Either way works. B1.svg_-_Inkscape_2018-01-07_22-12-48.png (The wider the gap between the small c...

Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

You might get some ideas from Nick the logo guy on YT.

This video link starts where he demonstrates a method to node edit text like you are seeking.

Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

That's gonna be tough to shape, even with symmetric nodes, considering the amount of arc.

It might require a combination of tools/effects and node editing.

Ja, that's why I suggest the helper path... It leaves the target path with just four nodes.

I'd use a mirrored helper path and a couple of guides.

FYI:

Snapping paths line segment to segment can make many duplicated moves on the CNC... might want to use just one line segment per hexagon side.
