Re: Union Question

I wouldn't use stroke to Path... At best that will likely cut the profile twice.

I'd combine the paths of the original tabbed shape, then merge the many duplicate nodes, and then add the new shape to the profile.

Re: Unwanted colour changes

Considering the issue is only about a channel full-on or full-off, I'd try just typing in the number 0 or 255... this will probably not change.

Also, if I am using the same colors repeatedly, I can put them in a palette and just click on them (if they aren't in the palette already).

Not hard to make it from scratch, using node editing.

Yes, I'd go Absolute and see if any problems come up.

Re: Unwanted duplicated nodes

In the preferences panel, look for
Input/Output
    SVG output
      Path Data
        Path string format:

Please try setting your preferences to "absolute " as described in my post above and let us know if that helps.

Re: Unwanted duplicated nodes

A little more digging... The paths that show an extra node when using the number-nodes extension are the ones that will duplicate (when it actually happens). The node that duplicates is #1. It seems the node will not duplicate if its joining segments are straight lines (no Bezier handles), nor will ...

Testing now on LiniuxMint 18 "Mate", 64bit. (live cd)

Cannot reproduce the issue.

Problem solved... Just use Linux! (jk)

Re: Vector file and PowerPoint

If the png they supplied doesn't work for any reason, you can open the Ai file in Inkscape and save as an SVG. Current PP versions should allow import of SVG as vectors and transparency.

Re: Unwanted duplicated nodes

I think it's a bug. Not completely predictable/repeatable here (yet). The relative mode seems to add the stacked nodes for some unknown reason. Also unknown is why some objects and not others. Optimized setting was probably the reason why the behavior was erratic for objects that would add nodes, bu...

Hi Ponny,

Please try setting SVG output string to Absolute.

Re: Export as PDF for business card printing

I'd use the menu to remove all filters and ensure there are no objects or layers with transparency or blending modes. http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Filters-BasicUse.html 72 dpi is common for electronic display, but print should usually be 300-600 dpi. I'd ensure the pdf is the correct...

Re: Possible bug makes objects turn black on undo operation

Not sure if it's a bug really, but here's a workaround: Set Transforms to optimized in the preferences. Select all the objects and move them up one tap on the up arrow key and then use the arrow key to move them back down. (This re-writes all the objects in Inkscape's method. ) The object colors sho...

OK, could be related to this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1671059 But I would try opening the file, copying the contents to a new empty document and see if that works. Ensure size of objects is correct. Feel free to attach a zip file of an example (or link to a file on a hosting service...

Re: Accounting for burn of laser cutter

Thank you for the test file.

You may find setting the scale of your default documents to 3.77953 (units mm) will solve the issue.

Similar to this issue: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=33535&p=104046&hilit=bug#p104046

I have tested your uploaded file successfully.

Re: Path outset problem

Try with units mm and scale set to 3.77953. Probably the same bug I've been harping about for a year. Inkscape should "ship" with units set to pix and scale set to 1. Then you can change units to mm/in/pt/whatever without issue. https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1670913 Comment #16 ...

Re: svg colorizable

It seems the OP would like help with interactive SVG... the site linked is supposed to allow selection of color and filling of areas, but it does not work for me.

SVG probably can do this, but I'm not sure who here has those skills.
