Re: Equations, subscripts, superscripts and letter spacing

I consider SVG (and other vector images) as rendered-on-the-fly... depending on the renderer, it may look different even with the same XML and same installed fonts. Common example: in Inkscape, a stroked line 0.001" thick might be invisible at a particular zoom level, but in Adobe Reader, that ...

Re: Equations, subscripts, superscripts and letter spacing

If you don't require the text to be native in the browsers, you might try converting the final layouts to paths. (They appear small because I did not scale from the original files.) Here is the text version: Equation7KernTest.svg https://dl.dropbox.com/s/9pbpo88lbgwt0ip/Equation7KernTest.svg Here is...

Guidelines can also be used to snap the gradient handles to a particular angle, and guideline angles are easy to set in the GUI.

Re: New user question re: break apart/ungroup

It might be the image is in front of your tracing. Or, there is no fill assigned to the path object you are using as the trace. I use a trick in the video where I lower the opacity of the image on a layer above the trace, then I lock the image layer so it can't be selected. One can also use the imag...

There's no way I know of to pause a gif file, unless you save it to your computer and watch it in a media player.

Here's a 50% slow speed version you can watch: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/c9lmsce9n4rdv1 ... 4-24-S.gif

Re: New user question re: break apart/ungroup

I wouldn't spend time trying to auto-trace this, just put it on a layer and trace on another layer. Here's a quick run through... I go fast, so watch it a few times and make notes of each operation. Then chime back with any questions. Sorry to rush through it, but I'm trying to keep the picture/vide...

Re: recolouring a gradient

If you have separate objects, you can group them and apply a single gradient to the group.

Image

If you ungroup them after, to edit the gradient for all in unison, you must change the preferences for gradient sharing.

Re: Bug? Object looks like a circle but should be a square

The x-axis rounding handle is at 265... entering 0 in the control will square it up, or the button at the end of the controls will set both controls to zero. PS There are actually two rounding handles, one for x, one for y. I'm not sure how the value for x got so big, but that's why the x rounding h...

Ditto... or maybe take a shortcut and use a GIMP method and trace that in Inkscape to get it into vector.

Re: apply random colour from palette to objects

Seems like a "Random Select" extension could be handy. Maybe something simple?

    Randomly select from:
      Entire document
      Selected objects
      Visible objects

Looks like the gradients did not move when the objects were moved... there's a button for that:

I'd check the preferences to see if the bounding box is set to geometric... setting to visual may work.

Re: Different Inkscape and Gcode origins

Inkscape cleverly hides the fact that SVG originates from the upper left corner, and allows a typical workflow like other vector illustration programs... but the output SVG file will have the origin in the upper left.

You might try flipping the Y axis in the gcodetools extension post-processor.

For the love of all that is still good in this world...

PLEASE

Release the default.svg with px as units, and scale of 1.

That one thing will fix so many broken bits for so many users.

That's all. Thanks for asking!

I'd check to see what type of objects they all are.

Feel free to share the file for examination.... NVM, I see the link in the other thread.

Re: Vector to PNG replaces font

AIUI, fonts not found in the system folder get replaced with something close(-ish), prior to rasterization.

If you have an .ai file you can share, we can test it. Please zip it and attach to a reply, or provide a link to a filesharing service.
