Re: CMYK drives me crazy

I don't know how people use Inkscape, but I know plenty of graphic designers.... many people will still use it and be very happy with it. But professionals never will, and it is a real pitty to me. ... Inkscape is just another tool... No carpenter has just one saw, no painter has just one brush. Ma...

Re: How do you remove line that prints with the stuff i print?

It's also worth mentioning you don't need to drag a box to create text... just click once with the text tool and then type. dragging a box creates flowed-text.

Re: How do you remove line that prints with the stuff i print?

Seems the text is "Flowed", which is not supported by many systems. I'd try converting all text to paths before printing.

FWIW, when I print no24 here, no extra lines are on the print. No extra lines print to pdf here either.

Re: CMYK drives me crazy

... I have never printed any of my artwork, so i have no experience with this subject and judging by the information you can find on the internet, very few people have.... A fair amount of my Inkscape work is for print. That said, many print shops don't require cmyk or color seps... an rgb pdf is s...

Re: Sometimes I copy paste color codes in Fill and Stroke panel results in different color codes

Oh, I can absolutely confirm that typing the color code into the hexcode field does not work. When you type the first character, the field fills up automatically the rest of the original code. It has the same effect as if you had highlighted the first character and changed it. It's entirely impossi...

Re: How to draw many parallel lines within a box

Two ways come first to mind:

Tiled clones: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Tiles.html
This can make many from one

Interpolate: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... nterpolate
This makes many between two.

Re: Sometimes I copy paste color codes in Fill and Stroke panel results in different color codes

Seems to work here pasting various rgba codes into the Inkscape F-S panel.

Are you working in RGB, and not some custom profile?

At the time you paste and the color code changes, can you paste the code into another text program/area and see if the copy operation from ST is correctly copied?

You probably have an element in a group where it doesn't belong. Check the status bar info area.

And, as requested, please share the svg file, as an attachment here or linked via dropbox or google drive, etc.

Have you tried increasing the pattern width to .4 or more?

There may be a bug, but this may be an acceptable workaround for you.

Re: Divide image into two separate parts

After the image is traced to make a single closed path, make a single line (path) across the traced object and use Menu: Path>Division. The single line will cut the object into two closed pieces.

You can attach an svg file to a reply on this board, or link to an svg file shared on dropbox, drive, etc.

Are you planning to weld/fasten the two pieces together? Do they need any overlap?

It depends on the image... You might want to share an example image so we can best advise.

Re: Saving as SVG question

Preview and thumbnails are usually bitmap copies of the SVG file. They aren't actually showing the SVG file data. True renderers that actually show the file data (browsers, apps, editors, etc.) might not support all SVG features ; e.g. Flowed - text. If wanted, the OP can probably make their applica...

Re: How to make a vector toolpath for laser cutting?

The OP plans to use a laser to raster engrave the heavy lines and cut out the perimeter. Plain and simple.

Depending on your laser-cutter you may need a .001" cutline, or make the stroke a particular color.

Re: Text object missing when SVG opened by other software

Might be "flowed" text... That's not supported in some browsers.

I'd make a copy and convert all text to paths anyway, to avoid problems when viewers don't have that font installed.

Scheme = Plan. From Latin, schema. i.e. Control Plan (or schematic).

If the connector tool was in use, there may still be some lingering bugs...

Auto-save is a must.

FYI...

I just had the error message when importing/opening a dxf, despite not getting the error message before.

A reboot of the computer resolved the issue. :-/
