Re: All menu text broken (Win 10, 0.92.4, x64)

Have you tried reverting to 0.92.3, just as a troubleshooting step?

Re: spread your Inkscape love - new Inkscape store!

I'm not inclined to search my email going back that far (actually I think it's on an old computer anyway), but my recollection is that the choice of Spreadshirt was related somehow to open source. Maybe I'll try the online archive....although it might have been in a personal mail, rather than mailin...

Re: spread your Inkscape love - new Inkscape store!

As far as I can tell, they are mostly just black. I saw a red womean's tee, and something pink. I also saw a gray man's shirt (can't remember if it was long or short sleeves). Other than that, only black. I don't know why. To be honest, I don't have a very high opinion of that store. Some dedicated ...

Re: Lines between letters

It looks like your engraver did not lift up between paths. Doesn't it have some setting to prevent that? I guess possibly there might be a way to create the paths in Inkscape to prevent that, but it's hard to say by looking at a photo. If you can't find any setting on the engraving machine, so that ...

SCALE 17x Hackfest - the first Inkscape Hackfest for 2019

Hi Friends, Current development plans for Inkscape include a few hackfests this year. So much for the "annual hackfest", huh?! The first Inkscape hackfest for 2019 will be held in the 3 days before the 17th annual Southern California Linux Expo , aka "SCALE 17x". That will be Mar...

Re: Clip view to only the page?

The zoom tool has a zoom to fit page button, on the control bar. But it doesn't hide everything. It only can fit one dimension of the page. I've done the same thing in the past. I just draw my own sort of picture frame to fit the page border. Doesn't Inkscape have something built in for this? I've h...

Re: creating a multi-page pdf document from layers

I know of 3 different extensions for multiple page PDF exports. They all seem to work differently, and some of them require installing some extra software. http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape-pages/ https://github.com/wvengen/inkscape-addons/tree/master/extensions https://inkscape.org/en/~olibi...

Re: Failed to load the requested file

Maybe you need to enable the autosave feature, so that you'll always have a backup? Inkscape Preferences > Input/Output > Autosave And the other thing I would do, is be mindful of your file size. It depends on how much RAM you have on your computer. But the op here had a file larger than 26 mb. We d...

Re: Installed Fonts not found in Inkscape 0.92.3

If you're on Windows, you might need to have more than one user on the computer, before that option is available. If you double click on the TTF (or whatever kind of font) file, and click the Install button, does that work? (Or right click > Install) I'm starting to think we should make a bug report...

Re: Selection Wonky

There are several ways to select something. One way is to drag a selection box around it. Sometimes objects are bigger than they appear to be, perhaps if they have a filter applied to it. Or sometimes objects might be grouped, meaning that you can't select individual objects in the group, unless you...

What you're seeing might be either a known problem or related to one. But it's hard to say without seeing the SVG file. Can you share it?

I hesitate to elaborate until we I can confirm it's the same problem I'm thinking of.

Re: Thicker Lines On Trace Bitmap

Yes, that gave a much more expected result. Not perfect by any means, but close enough that you could fix the problems relatively quickly. I should note that the centerline trace engine is not designed to work with sketches, and that's probably why you see the weird results. I was only guessing that...

Re: Thicker Lines On Trace Bitmap

Sorry I wasn't here today. I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and using Inkscape 0.92.3. I don't think you need to install all that extra stuff which is outlined in the PDF file. Just use these: https://inkscape.org/learn/faq/#how-install-new-extensions-palettes-document-templates-symbol-sets-icon-sets-etc or ...

Re: Thicker Lines On Trace Bitmap

You know, I think it's possible to find centerline trace engines on the internet. The only one I knew about disappeared a few years ago, but probably another one (or 2) are available. I'd have to search myself. Well, let's see if I can find something.... Oh ok, I found this one: https://online.rapid...

Yes, those are the same instructions I found just now. But clearly they aren't appropriate for newbies, or even some more experienced users. I have no idea how to use shell mode, myself. I actually installed the same extension without doing all that (a couple of months ago). I followed these instruc...

Yeah, for those who have actually figured out how to make custom filters, they say the interface is less than desirable. There has been some talk about redesigning the editor, but I don't think it's anywhere near ready for release. I don't think there is any proposed re-design yet. So for now, you j...

Re: Using Inkscape for work

Being able to multiply an object (inkscape already does that) but create crop marks for the entire document automatically. I'm not clear what you're doing there, so there might be something you haven't found yet for that. When you say "multiply" do you mean a layer blend mode, or blend fi...
