Re: Unable to download inkscape

I think he or she is saying that when they click the download button, nothing happens. I've just tested all the Windows downloads, and they are working properly. What I'm thinking is that the website might have been slow at the time you were trying to download. Try waiting 5 or 10 seconds, and see i...

Re: Only dots are printed and not the line

I have to say, I'm puzzled as well. I don't see anything in the file which could potentially be a problem.

Let's hope it stays solved!

Re: my spiral is abnormal

We're really only guessing, unless we can see the SVG file. My thought on the unfilled, strange-looking circles, is that there might be circles on top of circles. Even if they are clones, being on top of each other could still create such an appearance. But what makes you think they are clones? Is t...

After some comments on the mailing list, I've made several significant edits. Here's the new version, in case anyone has any comments or suggestions:

Re: PDF output is slow to render

The PDF also opened progressively for me, but it only took about 2 seconds. That actually is a fairly complex file. I don't really know if it's normal and expected to open progressively like that, or not. I certainly have seen it before though. But why is it a problem for you? Does it open slower th...

Re: Resize angled object - keep same height

For this situation, the easiest solution is to scale it before you rotate it. But if it's too late for that, there's a way to edit the nodes, and using guides and snapping. 1 - Path menu > Object to Path 2 - Duplicate the rectangle 3 - Object menu > Object to Guides (this will create guides which ma...

Re: Visually joining objects after deleting stroke

Those gaps are caused by anti-aliasing. There are a few different solutions. One of them is to combine all the pieces so that it's all one solid piece. Another is to replace the strokes, and apply the same gradient to them, so that they more or less melt into the background. All the others are cover...

Whew, you found an old one!

It's a bit curious though. That X button is meant to remove the fill

Re: How to get image to display at correct size

A cranky week-old infant -- omg -- poor babies (you and baby)! Regarding holding the pattern pieces up to the screen....well, if there's no other way, I guess, but it would take some more complicated math than I would want to do, to make the image display at its exact size on the screen. Instead, I ...

Re: How to get image to display at correct size

I need to know how big to make the drawing in inkscape to make it print at 21cm x 31cm. at 300 DPI. as if i make the image 21cm by 31cm in inkscape it prints out way way too big. Whatever size you set in Inkscape, that IS the size of the image. If you exported a PNG at 300 dpi, it's expected that i...

Re: Inkscape & Windows 10

Actually, recently developers have looked at this problem, and figured out what's causing it. Technically, as far as I can understand it, it's not a problem with Inkscape, but with something which Inkscape uses (made by someone else). As far as I can understand it, the problem is not with the Window...

What is your Inkscape version and operating system? Also maybe check if your Uniconverter version is current?

Sorry, I can't decipher the error message. But others will be around shortly, who can.

Re: New to inkscape

I would suggest starting with Help menu > Tutorials > Basic, Shapes, and Advanced. The Advanced one is probably the most important for you, but don't worry, it's not really advanced. It's just an introduction to vector paths. After that, you could look at this huge listing of tutorials: https://foru...

Re: trace bitmap (Inkscape 0.92)

You don't need to do anything to close a topic when you're finished. Some people like to mark the topic solved, but it's not a requirement. Personally, I see people posting in topics which are marked solved ALL the time. So it really is a waste of time, in my opinion. But if you want to mark it solv...

Re: Conversion of image totall fails (0.91 to 0.92)

Actually the title does not say it all. Does this part "(0.91 to 0.92)" mean that you're trying to upgrade? Or you're trying to open an image you made with 0.91 in 0.92 ? What kind of conversion are you attempting? Raster to vector, object to path (or text to path), SVG to PDF, something e...

Re: Edible Landcape Food forest Design

I have almost 4 gig of ram and my system uses 1.5gigs I'm not sure exactly what that means. If you really only have 1.5 gb of RAM, that's not really sufficient for Inkscape these days. It would be enough to work on one of your icons, but not for many of them. 4 gb should be sufficient for small or ...
