opening date for the new forum

Hi Friends, We have an opening date for the new forum, which is this August. Wider announcements will go out next month. But I wanted to mention it here, now, in case anyone wants to have a new look. I've just finished setting up the boards and categories. It's much like both the forums already are,...

Re: Making Business card Template

Also re Inkscape on Windows.

If you want to keep your older version, you could get the 7Z package of the current version, and not have to uninstall the old version. However, if you want to get the EXE or MSI package you must uninstall the old version first.

Yeah, I first looked up "momo" (when this was first posted) and found some not nice things about it. I kind of question using that term for this effect.

Re: Basic question about 3D graphic file conversion

Well, I'll add my bit, attempting to answer the original question. If you're looking for true 3D modelling, try Blender, which is also open source. Inkscape can create simulated 3D in a 2D environment. Inkscape SVG to JPG will probably not create any noticable deterioration. However, that's vector t...

Re: I am having trouble making an arc or segment

You have to draw the circle first. Then grab one of the tiny circle handles (not a square handle) and drag. Once you drag the handle, that button becomes activated. If you need to set the arc or segment to a specific size, you can use the spinboxes on the control bar. Or else you can just make a vis...

Just a quick note. You can also access the key shortcuts from Inkscape. Help menu > Key and Mouse Ref.

Re: SVG file changes when received my email.

They probably see different text because they don't have that font installed on their computer. Without seeing the actual SVG file, I can only guess. So I guess that the other text has been converted to paths, and that's why they see that text properly. The solution would be to either have them inst...

Re: Select objects with similar size

I've never heard of putting specifically extension requests in the bug tracker. But it could be added just as a general feature request. Who knows, maybe some developer would want to make it a native feature?

Here's the new bug tracker: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/issues

Re: Select objects with similar size

I remember a couple of users asking about an extension to remove objects based on size (in the last couple of years), but I don't remember seeing one.

Hhmm, I don't seem to have one in my master list, although I could have missed adding it to the list.

Re: Seamless Pattern On Inkscape 1.0 Alpha

Yes, I submitted a bug report about the missing scrollbars and other visual oddities about this version. Fortunately, I can scroll with my mouse. Let's see.... Oh yeah, you're absolutely right. Seamless Patterns template is there. You just need a scrollbar to have a clue! Edit Note that the missing ...

I see the problem myself, as recently as 0.92.3. But further troubleshooting still holds potential, as druban says :)

Re: Is there a way to set DEFAULT BSPLINE WEIGHT?

I'm not sure if Moini's using 1.0 alpha for the screenshot. But 1.0 alpha is available. https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.0/?latest=1 (Note that "alpha" is less stable than "beta" usually. In this case, it's probably pretty close to beta.)

Re: Cambam to DXF to Inkscape?

Hhmm. 9 years later, it doesn't look (from here) like a bug report was ever made. Although Inkscape's DXF support is likely improved! Since so much time has passed since the original message was posted, it's probably better if we start this as a new problem. Please explain your problem and share wha...

Re: Seamless Pattern On Inkscape 1.0 Alpha

I don't have a template, but I do have it as an extension. (Actually I have 2 extensions. Apparently I had installed it before it became native, haha.)

Re: Split path at intersection

In Inkscape, there is often more than one way to do something. If you have a top piece on the right, that's like the top piece on the left, here's how you could use that piece to do this. Position the top piece on top of the triangle - like it looks like you already have it. -- duplicate the top pie...

Re: trace bitmap crashing with multiple scans

I can't speak to the woodcutting questions. How long do you wait, when you try the trace? Even on a powerful computer, it would take some time to trace a 2.5 mb image. 2.5 is fairly large for Trace Bitmap, actually. 500 kb should be do-able, but still could take a minute or so, depending on your com...

Re: Text is streaking when I move it, how can I make this not happen

The streaking bits aren't really there. I mean they aren't objects on the page. It's a malfunction in the display. I've found that I can often get rid of the streaks by scrolling away, and then back. Or sometimes minimizine the window and bring it back up. Or possibly it could be related to a resour...

Re: cut image outline

If you're still having trouble, there might be other ways to do what you want. So it still might be helpful to see your SVG file.

I'm thinking possibly a path operation might work. But it's hard to say without seeing the image.

Re: Absolutely INFURIATING LINE HEIGHT & FLOW INTO FRAME GLITCH

Fyi, I don't even know if this is feasible. But I made a feature request to make this new line height thing optional. That way, people who want the old behavior, where we didn't need to worry about the line height, can live and work in happy ignorance. https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1716570
