Note that this topic was started years ago by now. Please start a new topic if you questions about bold or italic fonts (because Inkscape has changed significantly since then).

Re: Help cutting a "circle" image

In case you decide to try Inkscape again....(because good luck drawing that logo in GIMP or Paint) Inkscape's background is transparent by default. You didn't need to make it red, to identify which part you wanted to remove. It was already transparent. Inkscape does offer the traditional checkerboar...

Re: Clip, Set, strange effect after move/ctrl-x/node-move.

Ok, so let me get clear on the steps to reproduce. -- draw a curved path using Spiro Spline mode -- duplicate -- give one path the color and the blur -- use the other path as the clipping path, and clip it -- copy/paste the result When I follow those steps, I do see somewhat similar results. See att...

Re: Why do objects jump out of layers

Hhmmm, are you talking about actual layers or sub-layers, which you can find in the Layers dialog, or Objects dialog? Or are you referring to objects which are stacked on top of each other on the canvas? Could you show us an example of what you're talking about? I can't quite imagine what you mean. ...

Re: Wacom Cintiq 22HD or XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro display drawing tablet for digital art

I'm not a tablet user, so I can't help much. But I did want to ask what "multi-touch input" is. I'm not sure if Inkscape can support that, although again, I don't really know what it is (or what it means).

Re: Problem with modifying a specific .pdf file

Either I don't understand the problem, or I can't reproduce it.

When you said you opened the file, ungrouped and moved some graphs, do you mean that where you moved them, is not where we see them, in Test3.pdf?

Attached is what I see in Test3.pdf, using Adobe Reader.

Re: Lock file to prevent simultaneous edits

I've never heard of such a feature. Although I might not be understanding your meaning. The one who saved first would only lose their work, if the 2nd person who edits, removes the work that the first one performed. Not unless one of them saved a new file. What if the first one saved the file under ...

Re: Clip, Set, strange effect after move/ctrl-x/node-move.

Hhm, I think I'll need to see the SVG file. Could you share either the same file as you showed above, or one like it? The only thing I can think at the moment, is that you might have the clipping path option enabled, and you accidentally dragged the clipping path, instead of the object's path. Did y...

Re: Can someone develop an app for me?

Your link hasn't been deleted. But it doesn't work. I'm not sure why you think Inkscape developers could do this for you. It sounds like you're dealing with raster images, while Inkscape is a vector graphics editor. I don't quite follow exactly what you need, or why the process you described takes a...

Re: Preview mode?

I'm not familiar with that program. So I can't guess what you need. What is it that you either want to see or don't want to see, that you don't already see on the canvas? Inkscape has View menu > Display Mode, where there are options for viewing everything except filters, or Outline Mode which only ...

Yes, it sounds like you need animation. Here's an overview of different ways to use images made in Inkscape, to create animation: https://inkscape.org/en/learn/animation/ Many ways! But Inkscape doesn't have animation by itself. Actually as I think about it more, I'm not sure what kind of approach t...

That's what I thought too. But after he (or she) explained the problem for the 2nd time (rather than report the results of trying our suggestions, for example, or asking follow-up questions) I started thinking maybe I didn't understand the question. So I thought I'd try throwing out some extra info,...

Oh, you're talking about the fact that you can only see, typically, 3 digits on the left of the decimal point and 2 on the right, even though there may be any number of digits. Right? I guess it would not take up much space if those fields can automatically expand to hold whatever value they contain...

Re: Silhouette for Bridging pieces Plasma

We must be missing the point. I must be missing the point. Let me try some screenshots, for clarity. Here, I've removed the fill, and made the paths wider, just so we can see them. And I've added some fill color, so I can ask my questions clearly. Is the part I colored yellow, the part that gets cu...

Re: Loss of image detail when tracing.

Even with the most optimal settings, if the original raster image is a photo, there's a good chance the trace will not have as much detail. Trace Bitmap is just not designed to perfectly reproduce any photo. As far as I understand, Adobe Illustrator has some kind of trace engine which gives phenomen...

I think I posted a tutorial in this forum....somewhere....years and years ago. You could try searching the forum. I have a couple of tutorials for Engraved Text and Embossed Text. It's a very similar concept for buttons which appear to be pressed or not pressed. It's just that the buttons would look...

Re: Silhouette for Bridging pieces Plasma

I'm not sure if I understand your question. But you can make the offset larger or smaller amount. If you use Dynamic Offset, you can drag the offset manually, so you can see when it's the right amount. Or you can change the standard amount of the "steps" if that would work better. Inkscape...

Re: [solved] can't import more after importing 20 images (linked not embedded)

The only potential problem I see with that solution, is a potential reduction in quality of the original raster image. If you don't see a change in the quality, that's awesome! I would expect a slight blurriness. But if they started out very high quality, it might not be noticable. One thing that wo...

Re: Locating holes in rectangle

If you double-click on a guide, a small dialog opens which allows you to position it precisely (or relatively, if you prefer that). Or else, the guides are snappable, so you can snap them to something. And they can also be snap targets, where you can snap other things to them. Here's the manual info...
