Re: Can I use Inkscape as an adapter?

PDF can contain both raster (JPG, PNG, etc.) and vector (SVG, DXF, etc.) contents. (In case you didn't know.) If the PDFs you create will only contain raster contents, then Inkscape would not be the best choice, since Inkscape is a vector editor. However, if the "old plans" are in a vector...

Re: Issue in path effect editor

The reason the Width option is not there, is because the path is using the Powerstroke LPE. In previous versions of Inkscape, Triangle In/Out was using Pattern along Path LPE, which does have the Width option. But now, it's using Powerstroke. You can remove the Powerstroke, and apply Pattern Along P...

Re: Unwanted duplicated nodes

If the problem has to do with decimal places, there is a way to set the maximum. Inkscape Preferences > Input/Output > SVG Output > Numbers > Numeric Precision. At least, that's my best understanding of that option, is that it sets the max decimal places. When I check in my own test file, in the XML...

Re: Unwanted duplicated nodes

On Windows, I can reproduce it, but only in Ponny's file. I cannot reproduce it in my own file....although I don't completely understand the discussion of decimal places.

Ponny, what is your operating system? I seem to recall Mac, but my memory is not so dependable lately.

Re: changes in Tricks and Tutorials board

I'll investigate more when I have the time, but it doesn't look like a simple toggle. Yeah, I was afraid of that. This is one of the many places where SMF is much easier to use than phpBB. (I don't mind having a deep look into it, but you'd have to temporarily promote me.) (It's also possible that ...

Re: Unwanted duplicated nodes

Ponny, if you could make a video of the case where you fix one set of double nodes, and then the next nodes gets doubled, and then the next -- if you could make a video of that, showing your whole entire inkscape window (so developers can see everything) that would be really helpful in getting it fi...

Re: Unwanted duplicated nodes

Ok, I have been able to reproduce part of what you describe, but it's only happening for me using Undo/Redo. I've created a path with a lot of double-nodes (I can do that dependably by using Path menu > Dynamic Offset, and then convert that offset to path. I go through and - break the path between 2...

Re: Unwanted duplicated nodes

Can you share the SVG file where this is happening, so we can test? Since version 0.92.3 is still very new, there may be new bugs which have not been discovered yet. Yes, that would be a very bad bug, if duplicating path B adds extra nodes to path A ! Or if joining nodes A and B creates an extra nod...

Re: inkscape svg image not displaying or displaying incorrectly in firefox, opera, xviewer

Note that different browsers or different viewers will display SVG images differently. Of course, the Inkscape community can't control how browsers or image viewers choose to support the SVG standards. So it's a bit hit and miss. Looking at your file, I see that you have objects such as Arc and Elli...

Re: Paste into Layer

Object menu > Objects opens a dialog which displays not just the z-order of objects, but also layers. While it is possible to change the z-order of objects without this dialog, perhaps experimenting with it will help you to understand? But I agree with Moini. Until we can see an SVG file with these ...

Re: changes in Tricks and Tutorials board

As far as I know, currently only Xav can do the sticky-ing. (well, microUgly too, of course) (It's the way the forum is set up, currently. It's probably possible to allow others to do it, but would need some permission changes.) I think it's important that Xav's tutorials are sticky, to make sure th...

tutorials hosted on Inkscape website (or linked from)

Hi Friends,
I guess it's about time to promote these tutorials, since the count is up to 82 tutorials by now (since the gallery first opened.....3 or 4 years ago??)

These are tutorials which can be found in the Inkscape website gallery

changes in Tricks and Tutorials board

Hi Friends, In updating Inkscape Community's tutorials listings, I've learned that sadly, all the heathenx.screencasters.org tutorials have been removed and their site closed down. The videos are even removed from YouTube. So I would propose to un-sticky that topic. And I would also propose to make ...

Re: Curved design

I see that the template already has a sort of grid, with the lines "leaned" and "bent" to the proper amounts already. Since you're looking for a plaid design, you could just manually draw it to match those lines. Yes, Bend LPE would work for the horizontal lines. Draw them horizo...

Re: Paste into Layer

There is no option that I know of, to be able to paste something, and have it automatically in the middle of the page, or the middle of an object. You'll have to paste it, and then move it to the middle. (I have a feeling that you're refering to that orange rectangle as a layer. But even if it were ...

Re: Face vector

Looks good to me! Eyebrows seem too heavy. Maybe could make them thinner? A lot of the "critique" depends on your end goal. Are you just learning Inkscape tools? Or will this be cut out or etched into something? I'm just wondering about the black and white. Because maybe it would work bett...

Re: EPS files won't import, but Ghostscript is correctly installed

It seems like I saw a comment somewhere, that Inkscape like it better if the path variable is near the top of the list. Maybe try moving them up?? In the example I saw, they were moved up way past the approx halfway point of the list, to maybe about one quarter from the top. Heck, at this point, I'd...

Re: How do I make the shape of a crosshairs?

Set up your Snap control bar like in the attached screenshot. (In case it's not clear, the buttons with the light green background are enabled, those with darker green are disabled.) Also, make sure Edit menu > Inkscape Preferences > Behavior > Snapping > Enable Snap Indicator, is enabled. That will...

Re: Curved design

Hhmmm.... If I understand the question....and I'm not sure if I do.... I think you might be over-thinking it. If you were drawing a 2D image, which depicts a 3D object, and let's say the 3D object has a horizontal line around it, the line would have to be curved in the 2D drawing, to simulate 3D. Bu...

There is a similar problem discussed in this topic: http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=33496 I'm not sure if any of those circumstances apply to you. For example, that user was using version 0.48, and you're using 0.92.2. It sounds like their objects are in groups.... Well, I'm not...

Re: Filling figures

Inkscape has pattern fills, which are relatively easy to apply. But I would guess that the stock patterns won't suit your needs. You can create your own patterns, except that your original message indicates that you don't want to draw them. And plus, the patterns themselves are not vector objects......
