Re: Failed to load the requested file

Maybe you need to enable the autosave feature, so that you'll always have a backup? Inkscape Preferences > Input/Output > Autosave And the other thing I would do, is be mindful of your file size. It depends on how much RAM you have on your computer. But the op here had a file larger than 26 mb. We d...

Re: Installed Fonts not found in Inkscape 0.92.3

If you're on Windows, you might need to have more than one user on the computer, before that option is available. If you double click on the TTF (or whatever kind of font) file, and click the Install button, does that work? (Or right click > Install) I'm starting to think we should make a bug report...

Re: Selection Wonky

There are several ways to select something. One way is to drag a selection box around it. Sometimes objects are bigger than they appear to be, perhaps if they have a filter applied to it. Or sometimes objects might be grouped, meaning that you can't select individual objects in the group, unless you...

Re: Path/Difference is altering shapes of objects

What you're seeing might be either a known problem or related to one. But it's hard to say without seeing the SVG file. Can you share it?

I hesitate to elaborate until we I can confirm it's the same problem I'm thinking of.

In Inkscape, I would use the Pen tool and "manually" draw the outlines.

Re: Thicker Lines On Trace Bitmap

Yes, that gave a much more expected result. Not perfect by any means, but close enough that you could fix the problems relatively quickly. I should note that the centerline trace engine is not designed to work with sketches, and that's probably why you see the weird results. I was only guessing that...

Re: Thicker Lines On Trace Bitmap

Sorry I wasn't here today. I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and using Inkscape 0.92.3. I don't think you need to install all that extra stuff which is outlined in the PDF file. Just use these: https://inkscape.org/learn/faq/#how-install-new-extensions-palettes-document-templates-symbol-sets-icon-sets-etc or ...

Re: Thicker Lines On Trace Bitmap

You know, I think it's possible to find centerline trace engines on the internet. The only one I knew about disappeared a few years ago, but probably another one (or 2) are available. I'd have to search myself. Well, let's see if I can find something.... Oh ok, I found this one: https://online.rapid...

Re: Thicker Lines On Trace Bitmap

Yes, those are the same instructions I found just now. But clearly they aren't appropriate for newbies, or even some more experienced users. I have no idea how to use shell mode, myself. I actually installed the same extension without doing all that (a couple of months ago). I followed these instruc...

You could try Centerline Trace extension: https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-centerline-trace Do you need instructions for installing an extension?

Hopefully it will be all the same people from this forum, just moved to the Inkscape website. And this forum will be there too, but just in read-only mode. But if not all the same peo...

Re: Question customizing overlays

Yeah, for those who have actually figured out how to make custom filters, they say the interface is less than desirable. There has been some talk about redesigning the editor, but I don't think it's anywhere near ready for release. I don't think there is any proposed re-design yet. So for now, you j...

Re: Using Inkscape for work

Being able to multiply an object (inkscape already does that) but create crop marks for the entire document automatically. I'm not clear what you're doing there, so there might be something you haven't found yet for that. When you say "multiply" do you mean a layer blend mode, or blend fi...

Re: Question customizing overlays

If you open the Filters Editor (with the filter applied to something which is selected) you can edit the individual primitives which comprise the filter. Often the Flood primitive is used for coloring something, and it's a simple matter to select the Flood primitive and adjust the color. However, so...

Re: Setting CSS layer blend modes

I don't clearly understand what you're asking. But I see Extensions menu > Web > Slicer. There are 3 related extensions there (and "slicer" doesn't seem to be the best description), which I think together write the HTML/CSS for you. I'm not sure how they would handle the blend modes though.

Re: Grain filter ?

Regarding your example here: https://blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/shaded-type/shaded-type.jpg There are a couple of extensions which will create these random noise type of effect. I haven't used them, so I don't know exactly how they work. https://inkscape.org/en/~kurn/%E2%98%85s...

Re: Using Inkscape for drag knife CNC

What version of Inkscape are you using? You should not need to install those extensions. They are native in any relatively current version of Inkscape. The error message means just what it says. The extension might have worked just fine. If you see the orientation points on the canvas, then it worke...

Apparently this kind of animation messes with scrolling the page in the browser. So far, I haven't been able to get the text of your message in the viewing area, so I can read it. Re: Turning the Grid by a specific angle

I don't think you can rotate those grids. However, I think I heard that the next major version release (1.0, yay!) will have the ability to rotate the whole canvas, which I would guess would also rotate the grid. So for that to work for you, I guess you'd have to rotate the canvas, but still draw on...

Re: the future of this forum

This is where I'm coming from. Personally, to be completely honest, I think a php forum (such as SMF or phpBB) would be better too. But when we (individually) are working within a community, that means we can't always have exactly what we want. Within a community, we're constrained to the areas wher...
