Re: Bezier Tool Creating Words

Yeah, definitely a link to the tutorial. If it's a video, please tell us the time stamp about where you're stuck. If it's text and has steps, please tell us the step number. Although....it sounds like your Bezier tool might be configured in a non-default way. Unless the tutorial tells you to do some...

Re: Nothing will select (how to fix?)

If you have a very large file....or even not so large, and you do something which challenges your available resources, it might take Inkscape several seconds, or sometimes even several minutes, to complete what you've asked. While Inkscape is working, nothing works. You can't select anything, or cli...

It's hard to say what the problem is, without more info.

Would you please show us what the exported PNGs look like? And also please show us what they are supposed to look like. It might also help if you can share the SVG file.

Oh I must have misunderstood the title then. I didn't realize it was targetted for the hackfest. If we want the topic closed, we might have to either lock it, or change the title. (Although changing the title only changes the title of the first message and new messages posted after the change. There...

....made sure that > 1000 Inkscape files have the correct licencing set in them. Wow! He even automated checking for licences. Why does each file need a license? From what I understand, Inkscape uses libraries from other open source programs (and also shares it's libs too)(at least in theory, I don...

Re: Gradient tool for circle/oval shapes with stripes and focal point

And to confirm something, if I want perfect circle, I draw a circle and then click transform, input any number and click on scale proportionally? Yes, that will work. There are probably many ways to make the stripes curve in the round buoy. How did you make the stripes in the other buoys? I'm just ...

What kind of videos is C R making?

Thanks for the update :D

I don't know....since I don't use a tablet, I didn't spend much time on them. But for the time of year, ...

Re: A4 landscape - portrait mode?

You can set up each Inkscape document like you want it. File menu > Document Properties > Page tab, and about the middle of that page is where you can switch between landscape and portrait mode. You can even switch the same document back and forth, if you want. You could draw the whole thing in port...

I have a tutorial which is showing how to make what I call engraved text, meaning the text appears to be slightly below the surface. The same technique should work for making a button look like it's depressed. (And another tutorial for embossed text, which might be useful as well, to make the button...

Thanks for the report, Moini! Yes, I think I have that extension in my list, the Silhouette one, and it's probably in the wiki list too (I'm trying to keep them both updated, when I see new extensions). I don't know for sure if it's the same one you mention, but the repo shows some updates in the la...

Do you want the text inside the cross, or between the cross and the outer circle? What do you mean by ....trying to put text horizontally and vertically.... Are you describing that you want the text filling the whole space? Or do you mean that you want the text to somehow be going in a vertical dire...

Re: Problems creating a rectangle that my laser cutter treats as a vector

Or if deleting the preferences.xml file, and letting Inkscape create a default file, doesn't fix it, you could replace it with the prefs file from the computer which is performing properly. Of course those solutions only help if the problem is because of preferences. Is there any interface for the R...

Re: I need help filling a transparent image with a fit background.

Well if you use Path menu > Trace Bitmap, there should be no need to trace the outline with the Pen tool. If I understand correctly what you're describing, you can just Ungroup the result from Trace Bitmap, and use the outline from the trace result. The rectangular background will be a separate obje...

This page in the manual shows 3 different ways to animate a simple button: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Button.html Since you're talking about the button being off or on, I assume you're talking about animation. And there is more in the manual about animation. There are other ways to...

Ooh, I love your theme color. I might have to copy it! For the font design, to me, some things are not consistent. I don't understand why the B and D have little lines at the bottom. The sort of "serifs" on the U and V don't seem to consistent with the rest. I don't understand the long lin...

Inkscape has a couple of extensions for drawing gears. Extensions menu > Render > Gears. Also there's an LPE (live path effect). As far as I can tell, it can draw more than one interconnected gear - I mean with the teeth meshed together. And for a simplistic type of gear, you can configure the Star ...

Re: How to set default png export path for all images exported as batch from one svg file

I'm not sure what you mean about grabbing the directory from the field for the file name. Because as soon as I check the batch export option, the Save As button and field are both grayed out (along with everything else in the dialog, except for Export button). Not unless you're suggesting not to gra...
