Re: The disappearing German Empire

druban, could you elaborate a little on the clipping path. Is it because the clipping path is a group, that it won't work outside Inkscape? I'm just curious. I actually didn't realize that you could use a group for a clipping path. I've always thought it had to be a single, continuous, closed path. ...

Re: Inkscape has weird gray icons instead of defaults

Oh gosh! I'm sorry no one has answered this yet. I saw it yesterday (or day before) but I can't really answer. I only have a couple of ideas about this. One is maybe you got the wrong version from the repo? The other one, is that it might have something to do with your....oh rats, I'm going to have ...

Re: The disappearing German Empire

Well, first, you won't be mocked here. If someone asks for a critique (or posts their image in Work in Progress board) some people might post comments about the content of the image. But otherwise we don't comment in the content or even quality of images which people post (unless you ask for that ki...

Re: Relative move in % of object size?

There are probably some times when I would have found that useful. Guides can already be moved relative to each other, although I'm not sure if percent is an option. I don't know how hard or easy it would be to add such a feature, but I can see how it could be useful for some users in some situation...

Re: Where to report bugs and software issues

I'm not familiar with Ghostery, I've never used it. I notice in your screenshot there seems to be an indication that there's an update available. If it were me, I guess I'd at least try getting that update. I can't speak for Launchpad. It's one of the few sites which I regularly use, which does not ...

Re: Document Properties Not Displaying

I interpretted that to mean that if...(I guess) she closes and reopens, that the window is off the screen again (or on the wrong screen), rather than it just does not open.

Perhaps need some clarification on that?

Re: Where to report bugs and software issues

But getting back on the subject. If you could share all the relevant info (all of it) I'd be glad to post the report for you. Well, as long as I can at least generally understand it. If it's a very technical bug which I can't understand, I would not be able to answer developers questions, or test po...

Re: Where to report bugs and software issues

I have similar desire not to give google any info about me. I'm sure it's absolutely wasted energy, but I boycott google as much as possible. Makes me crazy just to have to allow youtube videos on my forum. But my desire to serve and support Inkscape users wins out over my desire to boycott google. ...

Re: [solved] Disable transformation handles for individual node/handles?

Interesting!

I wonder what the use case for this feature is? It seems like they ought to be disabled when the option on the control bar is disabled. I wonder why someone would want this feature enabled all the time?

I've seen that forked effect associated with Ellipse shape, using only corner/cusp nodes, but not with smooth nodes. Like draw a rectangular closed path with Ellipse, and only use corner/cusp nodes.

Re: No-Brainer Feature Request: Variable-Width X/Y/W/H Boxes

Yes, it's true that Inkscape developers rarely visit forums. But even if they did, they would ask you to file a new feature request. Those are handled just like bug reports, in the bug tracker, but they are labeled with "Wishlist". https://launchpad.net/inkscape Oh right, I already gave yo...

Re: document ratio

This is the first time I've heard this problem, so I probably can't help much. But I just wanted to mention that the rulers are there only as a guide. Trying to align things to the rulers will not result in precision. Instead, you should use the X and Y coordinates for precision. Or snapping also pr...

Re: Trouble Tracing a White Image

Of all the images that you showed, I didn't find the original -- at least not by their titles. Can you either share the original, or point out which one is? With that, I can give you some steps to achieving the best possible results. However, you must keep in mind that Inkscape's Trace Bitmap is not...

Re: From submenu to canvas with a key (combination).

Hi Brynn, Like for example, how would you put the cursor in the H or W fields, in Selection tool control bar, without using the mouse? Cursor movement screen: arrow keys. Click: enter. But how do you move the cursor, without using the mouse? The arrow keys don't move the cursor for me -- not in Ink...

....looks terrible in Safari, but renders fine in other browsers. It's quite normal that browsers have varying support for SVG. And it's quite common that we hear complaints about images displaying fine in some browsers (or image viewers, or graphic or other programs) but not in others. We even hav...

Re: Disable transformation handles for individual node/handles?

I'm not clear what you're asking / saying. Plus, I can't make transform handles appear at all, for single selected nodes, like you're showing. How did you make that happen?? What Inkscape version are you using? Also, which operating system? Are you saying the transform handles are not disappearing f...

What I meant was that if he had not been already inside the group, the group "layer" would not be showing in the menu. For example, if you select Layer 1, you exit the group, and the group "layers" disappear from the menu. When I open that file, only #g1883 is in the menu (beside...

Re: From submenu to canvas with a key (combination).

Yes, I understand everyone has their own preferences. I use much like you - right hand on mouse, left on kb. But it never occurred to me that it would be possible to use only the keyboard. It seems things like dragging an object would be easier with the mouse, than tap, tap, tap on arrow keys. Plus,...
