You might go away with the filter->fill+transparency->Brightness eraser:

Re: Convert Raster to Vector

The easiest way is to use a raster image editor like GIMP, add an alpha channel, select the white color, delete and save to PNG file - ready to compose.
As long as you don´t want to significantly upscale the artwork no vectorising is necessary.

Re: INTERPOLATE does not work

Please check your file again.
You have 3 objects on the canvas - 1 yellow double on top of the other. Selecting just the 2 paths of them will work with the interpolation extension:

(My Inkscape version don´t interpolates borders - so that´s not normal)

Building that mesh is quite easy even in a subdivision poly-modeler (macOS Cheetah3d used here): lanternmesh.jpg But if the unwrapping LCSM/ABF+ algorithms are useful for building the real thing is at least questionable. Re: clip imported raster just inside colored line

Not sure about your expertise in Inkscape: You can try to autotrace for 3 or 4 colors and go with the red part only. Close the path at the coast and separate the objects - select the one you need and cut it - delete the redundant objects and paste back the cut part. move it over the map and use it t...

Re: Extracting/isolating part of an image

Yeah - I took the bucket fill tool with its default settings in first place. What works quite well is to use an increased threshold+ fill Boolean-added to one object as the contour and a second fill at 0,00:

This won´t work on lousy compressed raster images - unfortunately.

Re: Extracting/isolating part of an image

I´d don´t touch copyrighted stuff.
But simply draw a fresh bow over it: one outline on the outer edges and 3 white parts for the inner portions combined to a "compound path" or grouped when a solid fill color is needed.

Why a new node? Why not simply drag with the node tool at the certain stage of the curvature when it´s already a path?

Of course that´s all possible in Inkscape - but to be honest; filter work is ridiculous hard to handle compared to other "modern" SVG editors like GravitDesigner/Affinity Designer for instance - not to mention macOS apps which can use QuartzEngine/CoreImage graphics libraries for nearly 2 ...

I´d choose Filter->Color->Colorise (When I got the translation right) because I can adjust a color and get rid of any color by using black:

Re: Transparent Text on Circle?

If I read correctly you need 5 assets (2 curved text elements, a circular color filled shape, the arc- and fighter shape) to get the job done and none of them should be raster images. Then it´s just 2 clicks and 2 "combining" operations to finish the logo: LogoBuilt.jpg BEHC Logo 4U.svg Ch...

I meant: In the last step you can change the line width - which is not possible if you convert the paths to a color filled object.

Re: How do I export a 24-bit PNG?

8bit is the norm; can be read as 3x8bit per pixel=24bit - but 24bit per pixel is non existent, sample depths ranges from 1 to 16 bits with greyscale palettes and 8 or 16 bit with color palettes.

There´s no such thing as 24bit per pixel PNG existing. Alpha channel is included though.
What do you need it for if I may ask?

@ tylerdurden. From my experience this won´t have any effect on loaded raster images - just vector drawings.
