Re: Center text on point?

Probably, there is. But you would need to ask for a fix on the bug tracker at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape - please search to see if this has already been reported. I can confirm there's a difference in rendering between web browsers and Inkscape (Linux Mint 18.3, with the stable 0.92.x and t...

Yes, on launchpad, there is an 'Affects me, too' button, that increases the 'heat' of the bug report.

So, the question is, would you like someone else to report the issue for you? If so, please provide a description :)

@ronburk: Inkscape does have 'macro facility' - only it's called 'extension'. Would you like to write one for this?

Re: How to free rotate an object programmatically?

Mmh, I've never seen that article. I have no idea what the current status is, but my gut feeling is that it's probably not going to be in a workable state. You could ask about it on the developer mailing list, if you want to get more qualified answers to that question. Currently, you would need to u...

Re: Where to report bugs and software issues

I think lp uses a google captcha for registration. It's why Chinese users can't register there without circumventing their country's internet blocks.

Re: Tracing a Bitmap image.

If you really need to scale a raster/bitmap image up (sometimes that's necessary for trace bitmap to pick up the details), I'd suggest using specialized software for this, e.g. Gimp (free + open source raster graphics editor). It even offers different algorithms for upscaling. While Inkscape can sca...

Re: Generate from Path, Scatter without deformation?

If there weren't the extension that creates dials, I'd use tiled clones.

Dial extension:

Re: Combine two paths to have the same power stroke effect?

Yes, PowerStroke only works on a single path, without subpaths (a path will consist of multiple subpaths when you combine it). If a path has multiple subpaths, the first one will get the effect, the others won't be visible - this is what happened in your screenshots. You can either: - copy-paste the...

Here's some more info about the current state in the current SVG spec:

I don't think there has anything changed for SVG 2.0:

Not currently, no.

I think, though, that I've read some developer talk about this... If you really want to know what the status is, please ask on the Inkscape developer mailing list or in the developer IRC channel.

That's good that you've found workarounds. Could you still describe the problems in a bug report in the bug report section for Inkscape, please? This is so a developer who wants to help with Mac stuff knows what needs to be fixed. You can browse and add to the Inkscape bug tracker at https://bugs.la...

Re: No-Brainer Feature Request: Variable-Width X/Y/W/H Boxes

I thought you meant to expand them to hold the numbers completely - depending upon the width of the number, not upon the width of the screen. Anyway, I also wouldn't like them to shrink too much, tbh., because then there'd probably not be much left to see... If you suggest a minimum width, I might b...

TD, thanks for researching! @holthaunt: can you try if inserting a filterUnits="userSpaceOnUse" into the filter definitions (inside the <filter> tags) makes a difference? If you use search + replace, search for <filter and replace by <filter filterUnits="userSpaceOnUse" (this is,...

And is it still an SVG image? Can you check by right-clicking on the image in the browser, when it comes from your hosting site? Depending on your setup, it could be sending you a jpg, for all we know currently (probably not if you're writing the site software yourself, but if you use some CMS, it m...

Xav, you probably know that there's an option to disable space-bar panning in the preferences. Doesn't it work for you?
