Re: How to create and fill desired shape with bezier?

Do this: Path -> Remove Path Effect
And when you create a new path with Bézier or Pencil tool, make sure that at the top, in the tool control bar, the 'shape' is set to 'None'.

Re: Problem opening DXF from AutoD Inventor

Okay, so here it is - the arrows mark where the folds would go (from arrow to arrow). Haven't tested if it will hold up when glued together (flaps at the right), and don't know if maybe the lines might be too close to one another, for a laser cutter that burns through the paper (but can make adjustm...

Re: Usb-to-serial port converter driver

Hi Pixelsaint, I can't promise that I can help, but maybe giving people here a couple more details can be useful. I get that you have installed the Ubuntu Studio distro on your computer. I understand that you've got a plotter/printer, which, according to google, is, non-abbreviated, a "FlyCut 7...

Re: Inkscape & cutter /plotter Xp

Can you: - start Inkscape from commandline (just type 'inkscape' to do so) and copy the output you get until and including when opening the extensions submenu? - append a copy of your extension-errors.log file (you need to zip it, else this site won't accept it)? User extensions are usually copied i...

Re: Problem opening DXF from AutoD Inventor

Update: One of the authors of the extension (at least I think so - no idea how he knew about the bug report!) has updated the extension itself. Says it's not ready yet, and I haven't tested, either, but I thought I'd let you know, @walkinplaces :) https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1683063/com...

Re: Can I create and open a file with inkscape from command line?

Yes, I think it's the same concept (but yours goes farther with the alias, allowing you to use Ctrl+S instead of Shift+Ctrl+S).
Happy CLI' ing :-)

(maybe worth a feature request, though? Perhaps with an additional parameter for 'create new', to not break existing behaviour?)

Re: Can I create and open a file with inkscape from command line?

You could open a template file, just like Inkscape does when it creates a new document. Maybe use a copy of the standard 'default.svg' (don't overwrite the original ;-))? But I'm not sure what you'd want to do with an empty file - Inkscape command line is limited to anything that doesn't need parame...

Re: How to realize unrotated markers?

Ooh, that's another one to add to the FAQ 'why can't I edit this object's parts?' (along with the object being locked, a bitmap, grouped, a clone, a symbol, a pattern, having an LPE applied - now a large marker) ;-D

Re: How to realize unrotated markers?

Open the XML editor. Find the defs section. Find your marker in the defs section. Set the value of 'orient' from 'auto' to an angle in degrees.

Re: "Official" list of Inkscape extensions?

The second link was meant to be more of a 'working list', just for ourselves, to get them onto the website later. As for the issue with them not working as expected: They probably work as their author thought they should, or was able to make them work. Many of them live on gitlab, and many files con...

Yes, I had even mentioned that in my post, because I know of polygon's special version, - before my text was lost due to an uncautious click. Forgot to add it back in again... :-/ Thanks for doing so, su_v!

Re: Text filling a circle

Ah, so the instructions themselves (use path indicated in the preferences for 'User extensions') work for you, too. That's good :) I'm not sure I can be of any further help for this very Mac-specific issue... As for the bug/not implemented feature in the extension, I've just reported it here: https:...

Re: Trace bitmap function

Also make sure to actually select the object before trying to trace, it's easy to deselect and not notice. Happens frequently.
If that's not the issue, then I think it could be a bug - what's your Inkscape version? Operating system?

Re: Text filling a circle

Interesting. The folder that works for you seems to be yet another folder - the one Lynn used had '/share/' in its path. For V and Tim Sheridan, the .config folder works. Which folder does it display in your Inkscape preferences dialog, as the one where to put user extensions, @polygon? So the quest...

@polygon: so it doesn't work for you, either? That would be a bug that should be investigated... There is a reason why those custom user folders exist in the first place.

Re: [solved] Mouse cursor: arrow focus point

I think that to solve this riddle, you'd have to read the code. I've been able to follow it to something with 'arena', 'pick' and 'delta', but couldn't find where the actual computation for the distance is done. Actually the term is 'cursortolerance' in the settings source :-)

Re: "Official" list of Inkscape extensions?

There are many, the main gallery is the 'most official' - but note: none of them have been checked or are endorsed by the project, they are all user uploads: https://inkscape.org/en/download/addons/ Then the Wiki has a couple of lists: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Inkscape_Extensions (see...

Re: Text filling a circle

@Polygon: that's the path which is *not* suggested - as mentioned and explained above by su_v and me and in the manual. It will work, but only until you update / uninstall+install a later version. Then all your custom extensions will be lost.
