Re: How to cut photo along the borders of a vectorial obkject

Hi Enrico, what is the result you want to achieve? Cut a hole into the photo, in the shape of the beige grass? Try a mask: - Cover the whole photo with a white rectangle. This will need to cover all the parts that you want to keep. - Make your 'grass' black. This is required for making things transp...

Re: Issues Opening EPS files with new install of Inkscape 9.1 and GS 9.21

I can't see the error in your path, either... Can you try invoking ghostscript or ps2pdf from the command line? Maybe just asking for their version number? (see also: https://ghostscript.com/pipermail/gs-devel/2009-April/008314.html) (theoz, does this kind of change require a reboot to take effect, ...

:-/ Just in case you haven't stumbled about it during your research: Autosave can be activated in the settings, via Edit -> Preferences -> Input/Output -> Autosave, to prevent further losses.

Re: Inkcut Linux Mint error

The error message says that Inkcut cannot deal with texts.

Try to select all texts (select one, right-click on it, go to Select Same -> Object type, if in Inkscape 0.92 or higher - else select each text manually), then convert the texts to paths (Path -> Object to path).

Re: Object is blurred when being exported

Standard printing dpi is 300, 600 for better quality. 72dpi is less than screen dpi (dots per inch) - most screens have at least 90 pixels per screen inch.

Re: Print not coming out at the required size

How big is your Inkscape document? (check at File -> document properties) What's your paper size? How large is a card in Inkscape? How large is a card in the printed output? Does your printer have any fixed margins (e.g. laser printer)? Is there an option about margins that can be deactivated in you...

Re: Is it possible to adjust the width in the bezier curve?

If you cannot adjust the stroke width of a path by using the fill and stroke dialog, it may be that it already has a path effect applied. This happens when you have upgraded your Inkscape version from 0.91 to 0.92.x - removing the path effect by selecting it, then doing Path -> Remove Path effect ca...

Ah, Inkscape even provides a pre-made way for this. Didn't know - thanks, @tylerdurden :) (at least I now know how to do it manually...)

Re: XIA 2.2 Extension won't work - Exception in Tkinter callback

Sorry for deleting my post, but it didn't work when I tested. I've found another way. (this is for adding a title to SVG objects when you do not care about styling of the tooltip - if you do, there are ways to add CSS, or you can use javascript, indeed. What I haven't tested yet is whether it works ...

The people who will most probably know more about how that extension works internally are its authors. Have you contacted them?

Then also check the 'no overlap between colors' option and you're done ;-) (you may need to set a temporary uni-colored background rectangle)

Re: How to delete objects not entirely insided the document?

How about using the spray tool to create the stars in the first place? It has options to only spray on specific background (e.g. 'not on transparent areas'). You could make the background opaque, and use that option to your advantage.

Does Inkscape also freeze when you start it without any file?

Re: Shape with pattern to vector

Yes, you'd need to turn the pattern (which isn't really a path) into paths. That's what you've been doing by tracing the bitmap. Depending on the contents of the pattern, you could use the EggBot Hatch extension or the Gcode area fill extension for creating hatches / lines that fill a shape. Or, if ...

When something like this happens, tiff, it's always useful to take a look into the status bar to learn more about the object type that you have selected and any possible error messages.
