Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

> Do you have experience doing such things? A little :) I'm not sure solving this issue will be quick, though (like any issue). Expect to wait at least a couple of months, unless it's something really easy that can be influenced by what you do on your computer. Inkscape developers are volunteers, wh...

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

Thank you, good work :)
Would you like to create the bug report yourself?

I couldn't find this same bug yet, but I know that I'm not very good at searching for bugs, so it's not sure that it won't be a duplicate... :/

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

I've looked it up now, here's a video that explains how to do the copy-paste thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WU2_2ZqkkU Or this may also work: - Right click > Mark - Select the text you want to copy by holding left mouse button and selecting text OR by navigating to the beginning of the text...

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

Thank you! Now two last requests, so this can be packaged into a bug report more easily: 1.) What have you been doing in Inkscape until it crashed? 2.) Would it be possible that you copy-paste the contents of the command line output? Do it like this (hope it works like this on Windows, too...): - Us...

Re: Creating bounded area with Bezier tool

I seem to remember it only takes a certain amount of surrounding off-screen area into account... Here it is: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Bucket-Union.html. Additionally, there are a couple of known bugs related to the tool, e.g. this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/150...

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

Mmh. I understood that it also crashes with new files, only started from an empty template? If the crash is linked to a specific file this may be helpful.

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

I'm not on Windows, so I'm not sure what it's called there. When I used Windows, it was something called 'DOS prompt', I think. Can anyone else help with the concrete application to use? Or maybe this will help:

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

Start whatever kind of command line application you have on your system, and enter the word 'inkscape' then hit Enter. Then wait until it crashes, or do whatever you need to do to get a crash. Then look into the command line application, and copy the text it shows into a txt file, and append that he...

Re: Error GcodeTool extension scale in inkscape

Hi :) Can you give some more info about what you did, and what happened, and what you would have expected to happen? Also about the units you used.
What I can see is that there's the coordinate for 100 (mm? px?...) in x direction at about 350 mm...

Here's a similar report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/408894 (but it applies to 0.48...) Can you report/search for bugs at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape ? Please also inlcude info about your operating system, and if you're using any special kind of clipboard management software. FW...

Re: Iterative art

I find that with the more natural textures, the borders of the objects look a bit harsh (but generally, I like the more natural look you've adopted recently, Lazur!).

Re: Tiled background has undesireable lines

The fast preview uses clones, and suffers from antialiasing issues a bit more than the patterns. See also the Inkscape FAQ:

Re: Tiled background has undesireable lines

(or you could do the tiling in CSS, this would also save you some space and make your website load faster)

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

What I was asking for is the terminal output when the crash happens. Can you copy-paste that here? It will make searching for a corresponding bug report easier. (Currently, this sounds a bit like this bug (which was reported for XP, 32bit, so might not be the same): https://bugs.launchpad.net/inksca...

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

Oh, okay. I mean you should start whatever kind of command line application you have on your system, and enter the word 'inkscape' then hit Enter.
(and please also tell us what your operating system is, I thought it had been mentioned here, but can't find it)

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

:-( That's too bad... Can you start Inkscape via the terminal (should be just 'inkscape') and tell us what it says there? The error message that is displayed via dialog is too generic.

Is this with 0.91 or 0.92? (you said you'd try 0.92, that's why I'm unsure)

Re: How to join two curves?

If you don't care about the colors being identical after the joining, you could also join the two paths
(hold Shift + click on them to select both paths, hold Shift and drag a seleciton box around nodes to select both):

Yes, the problems affect texts that go over multiple lines. For the rest, the line height is probably irrelevant.

Re: Inkscape error message and forced shut down

There are lots of different reasons for crashes in 0.91, and some appear arbitrary (like clicking and holding some key down at the same time). Many of them have been fixed in Inkscape 0.92.

If you don't use a lot of text in your pictures, you can try if the current 0.92 solves the issue for you.

Re: Screen Mode on more than 8 objects

Ah. I'm getting real problems from 12 objects on, if they're all stacked above one another with Screen blend mode. Other blend modes have the same issue. It's a filter, and it's calculation-intensive, thus slow. What happens if you set the filter quality to low in the settings and work in 'no filter...

If you want to use Nick's icons, you could also just ask him - he usually replies to comments made in his blog :) Also, there's a single-color icon set included with Inkscape, you just need to copy it to your user's Inkscape icons folder (on Linux in ~/.config/inkscape/icons - on Windows, not sure, ...
