Re: Downloading previous Versions

The unit for the measure tool is part of the user configuration for that tool - like e.g. the stroke color for the rectangle tool. It is not defined by the document units. It might make sense to ask for a change there in a feature request.

Re: Adding one-sided markers

The Scatter extension brynn mentioned doesn't deform, so perhaps that is still an option.

Re: Inkscape keeps running in background even though programme closed

Are you running any extensions during your use of Inkscape, perhaps?
Which ones?
(might be a known issue)

Re: Arched text (as opposed to arc or put on a path)

I'd also check the contents of the files - many people download html pages that display the file contents, instead of the actual .py and .inx files.

Have you tried switching to geometrical bounding box in the settings? Edit > Preferences > Tools

Re: Tracing an image to create a vector line drawing

The drawing is a bit too wobbly for the centerline trace plugin to work well, I think. But you could try:

I'd probably use pattern along path, with an offset.

Re: Something wrong with pdf

I've never used that export option (you could have mentioned right away...).

Okay, so then this is your bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1417470

I think some workarounds are listed in the comments, but I haven't read them all...

This will be fixed in Inkscape 0.93

Your issue looks weird. Can you explain how you do the export? (and please use 'Save copy as...', to not lose data)

Re: character book illustration for packagings

I think the nose part could use some more contrast - it's difficult to discern the nose from the cheek behind (but else, I like your Merlin).

TD, the Inkscape expert statement is a heavy understatement, I think ;) You've come very far in just a short time. I wouldn't want to miss you on the forums, the answers and in the bug tracker.

Re: I got a Mac...

So, no bitmaps in your drawing :) Glad we found that out now.
The serrated lines are less serrated when you remove the duplicate black lines below - it seems their serrations add up.

Re: I got a Mac...

Can you make a screenshot of the settings for X11, just like the one on the download page? Your monitor is most certainly not causing the issue, no. Whenever you have an object selected with the selection tool, the status line will tell you what type of object it is. Duplicate will always work, no m...

Re: Can I get a new manual in pdf form?

It's not a real manual, Lazur. that project is a bit larger and I haven't started it (yet). For that project I would suggest using a different platform. What this was about is a (short, about 100 pages with many pictures) Beginners' guide, that is based on a book written by a long-time French Inksca...

Re: I got a Mac...

I think I've got a déjà-vu. I seem to remember that last time, su_v jumped in when we had a similar issue on the forums. But I don't remember the contents of what she said. To me, it sounds as if unchecking that option only prevents copying text into one direction, as a downside, so it's not a huge ...

Re: Can I get a new manual in pdf form?

The manual written by Tav, which is available online, and needs to be paid for if you want to use it offline, is available for 0.48.5, see http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/ for a list of available versions.

So you set this up correctly before you used Inkscape?

Re: I got a Mac...

Yes, unfortunately the install instructions need to be followed upon install, else you may lose work... :/ There's no easy way back from raster to vector. You can select all raster images by using the 'select same' function on right-click. So, right-click on a raster image, then do 'Select same' > '...

Select the 'Help' tab of the dialog that you have made a screenshot of, to get help for this issue (hint: the stacking order of the objects matters).

Re: Error when saving as a JessyInk zip file

Mmh. The error with the export extension would need to be reported here: https://gitlab.com/su-v/inx-exportobjects/issues The other error is weird then, are you sure you removed everythng from the 32bit Inkscape? And then installed the new 64bit version? If so, please add a comment to the linked bug...
