Re: Document Properties Not Displaying

There's one caveat with having multiple versions installed, though: Those versions will all share the same preferences file, and while Inkscape makes sure those are forwards compatible, backwards compatibility isn't guaranteed. So if you start a new version, and then later start an old one, you may ...

Re: Select objects by overlap with path

Most Inkscape users on Linux change their window manager Alt key to something else - Alt+click is essential for using Inkscape in a swift and convenient way - we even have an FAQ item for it :)

Re: Document Properties Not Displaying

Scale change in version 0.92: Inkscape is going to ask you how to convert your documents from one scaling mode to the other. Let us know if that happens for you, and if then you don't know which option to select. There are still some bugs related to the scaling, but there are also solutions (workaro...

If you want to support the effort, you can tell us in which ways here (be sure to read the full thread first): https://gitlab.com/inkscape/vectors/general/issues/45 (devs know it's important, but there's nobody who can do it atm. Inkscape is a program written by and for its users. If you can help fi...

Re: Pattern for water bubbles

Size and rotation can be changed randomly. Take a look into the spray tool options (http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Spray.html - a bit outdated, some new options have been added, see http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/0.92#Spray_tool). Then, afterwards, you could stil...

The Freehand tool does not have pressure sensitivity (yet - in the next major version, it has optional pressure sensitivity).

It's a known bug. It probably won't be fixed before the next major Inkscape version, which will (most probably) be Inkscape 1.0.

Or maybe you're after 'Save a Copy as...' ? And then close and reopen the file, or use the undo history to go back to point zero?

Re: Forum hosting

One possible solution would be we can just ask to tag things appropriately, instead of not allowing them. I don't mind people showing off their art with undressed people. It's not the rules themselves, it's how they're applied (most are just common sense) which can make things go well or not. I pref...

Probably makes sense to put them together. Even if someone doesn't use Inkscape, but still finds a way to use the program, it won...

Is this already listed in the extensions gallery on the website? https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/=extension/

If it isn't, could you ask the author to share a link to it from there? (How-to is linked from the above page)

Ah, okay. Glyphs = normal characters, not special characters.

To find good lists of open source fonts, look at https://fonts.google.com/ and http://openfontlibrary.org/

Re: Working with glyphs on Inkscape

Did you see the 'Glyphs' dialog (which will soon be renamed to 'unicode' I think) in the Text menu? There's a table that lets you select characters that cannot be entered with a keyboard directly. Or you use the unicode input method, or, most easy way, you just copy the characters from somewhere (th...

Re: Garbled letters when exported to svg

Probably the precision value is set too low (it could be 1). Can you change the precision to a higher value (e.g. 5) and see what you get?

Could the crash correspond to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1406526 ? If so, would you please: add info about your system and your Inkscape version, so it becomes clear that the crash is still happening with current Inkscape versions? Else, it would be good to make a new report,...

No, sorry, I'm not a regular user of fontforge, I've only used it for testing out things and playing around a bit.

You need to set a custom default template, from a document that has the settings you need.
See, for example, http://libregraphicsworld.org/blog/entr ... n-inkscape .

Re: Question on creating a font file (svg to tff)

Yes. Put them right on top of each other when you 'take curves from selection'. You could align their left edges, for example.

For fine-tuning the space between two letters, either use fontforge, or use the kerning feature in the other tab.

1. Try to take a couple images on openclipart apart (download SVG, open with Inkscape): https://openclipart.org/search/?query=gold 2. The node tool, or the extensions 'add nodes' and 'jitter nodes', or the tweak tool could be used for this. 3. With filters, maybe (non-filter examples are also includ...
