Re: Quick Palette!

Yes, I noticed that the name of the file was weird, so it seemed you had to rename it. Only recently, someone helped us add some new functionality, that evaluates the form before one can send it to the server. It still has some rough edges. I've created a bug report, where I'm asking about how to fi...

Re: How to design a Turbo blade/fan

You could use: - tiled clones (overkill, imho) - the rotate copies LPE (wonderful! but not documented, watch youtube video and read release notes: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/0.92#Rotate_copies) - simple rotation of identical objects (so, create 1 fan blade, move its rotati...

Re: Quick Palette!

Hi @BluKnight! Would you consider also sharing your palettes at https://inkscape.org, in the gallery? You can upload them at https://inkscape.org/gallery/upload/ , then select the correct category, and after uploading, it would be available in the corresponding gallery category: https://inkscape.org...

Re: osm custom selection tool?

Multi-Division would work, too. One only needs to delete the stuff that is then a separate object. Or Multi-Difference, with an object shaped like a frame (with a hole in the middle) (the extension for it can be found here: https://github.com/Moini/inkscape-extensions-multi-bool)

Re: Inkscape adding X number of pixels to vertical coordinates (diff coordinate systems on diff layers)

Mostly, they acquire transforms if you change the document size. In 0.91, this causes difficulties with tiled clones (and a couple more things).

Re: Inkscape adding X number of pixels to vertical coordinates (diff coordinate systems on diff layers)

You can fix it by creating a new layer in the document and moving the contents into it (and also fix the template, of course).

Re: How to make this text

Is your 3D printer able to print in color? Or what would you like to achieve? What do you mean by 'raise up the middle'?

(Just in case: the 3D in the drawing is only *simulated* by adding shading / filters / gradients - you'll need to do the 'raising' in the 3D application. SVG is 2D only)

Re: Regional Variations with OpenType fonts

Hi awesomekeeps, if you're using Inkscape 0.92(.1 - recommended), then you can access the open type features via the third tab in the text and font dialog. You need to set the font, and apply. Then you can see which open type features are available for the font of the current selection, and change t...

Re: Color and 3d boxes

You can change the color of multiple objects at once (even if inside a group, or part of a 3D box) by 'rotating' the color using an extension: Extensions -> Color -> Adjust HSL (hue-saturation-lightness). Use the preview functionality to see it, or apply and hit undo.

Re: Building Inkscape on OpenSUSE

Hi Caetano, the version you're trying to install is not a 'bugfix version' but trunk. It's the development version that often introduces bugs, and isn't deemed stable. It requires gtk3, which it seems you don't have installed. You would (at least, probably more) need libgtkmm-3.0-dev, libgdl-3-dev a...

Re: Morphing with Inkscape?

I'd say manual recreation is the quickest way - morphing the first shape into the second manually by dragging the nodes and segments into their new positions. Btw. you can change the start node by breaking the path open and then merging the broken-up nodes again, if you want to somehow use the origi...

Re: Is it possible to create a line symbol library?

In Inkscape, the stroke styles need to be added to the preferences file. I think Brynn had a link to a post that explained how... Basically, you'd need to create your dash pattern by editing the xml in the svg file, like this: http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2400 More info here: http://...
