Re: Different line width by path segment

You can watch how often someone changes the code (and what they change) here:
https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/commits/master

There were about 32 code changes by 6 different persons within the last week, for example.

Nobody is currently working full-time on Inkscape.

Re: Different line width by path segment

Sounds good :) (there are 32bit bugs, and 64bit bugs for 0.92.2, too. But I think this time, 32bit is actually the version that has the issues that are more relevant - no guarantees, just a gut feeling.)

Re: How to export to XAML without <Path.Data>

I don't think there are more options than the interface offers. You could perhaps export to both formats, and then copy the viewbox (or whichever it is that you need) over from one format to the other. If you would like to make a feature request, please visit: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape The...

Re: PDF: White text, enormous black stroke, white parts missing

That only fixes the holes, not the spikes. The same could be done with the stroked objects (Stroke to path > Break apart > Union).

Re: PDF: White text, enormous black stroke, white parts missing

Not sure what is new about font_stroke_problem_2.svg - can you elaborate? As for the linked offset issues, those are known and are the reason why I haven't suggested it in the first place... There are limits to the amount of offset/stroke that is reasonable to use in Inkscape. Before final export to...

Re: PDF: White text, enormous black stroke, white parts missing

The spikes are more in Inkscape, but the holes look the same in Firefox, so I don't think this is a bug. It's just that a stroke is not made for this kind of size and amount of overlapping. You might want to look into offsets for this. Linked offsets export well to pdf (just tested). They might then...

Re: PDF: White text, enormous black stroke, white parts missing

This is how it can work for multiple texts at once, which will change with the original texts: - select one text - right-click > Select same > Object type - right-click on the 'stroke' color field in bottom left corner -> Unset stroke - Edit > Clone > Create Clone - Apply a stroke to the now selecte...

Re: automate text input from .txt and place in inkscape?

Great work so far - and thanks for explaining! I'm not really experienced in writing bash code, so I would have used python, and my suggestions were for that - glad you figured out a way that works in your preferred language :)

I guess it's the same numeric issue as often happens with union - it must be doing a union internally.

Re: PDF: White text, enormous black stroke, white parts missing

(not sure if this is a general issue with pdfs, or if it's an issue with how Inkscape creates pdfs - if in doubt, a bug report could help finding that out)

Re: PDF: White text, enormous black stroke, white parts missing

Ah, okay, I see. In the pdf, it seems the style is added *per letter*. And each letter is a single object, which overlaps the previous one. Letters do not seem to be part of a 'text object', whose letters have a *common* outline, as they would have in Inkscape, but they all have their separate outli...

Re: PDF: White text, enormous black stroke, white parts missing

I guess the pdf renderer does not support the stroke order property, then. Works with evince.
What are you using to display the pdf? Can you share the pdf so we can verify?

Re: Different line width by path segment

Yes, that stroke width for the group is going to be overridden anyway... it doesn't make a difference when it's deleted. Also no difference after ungrouping with or without that attribute for the group - I don't know why it's added... As for the height change, it seems it's meant to be resizing that...

Re: Why isn't pressing HOME always enough to get layer to top?

I think you're talking about z-order, or stacking order of objects, not 'layers'. The answer is that this is because there are groups and layers. If you hit the Home key, the object will go up as far as it can, without leaving the group or layer it's in. This is because that could potentially mess u...

Re: Different line width by path segment

Interesting... why does the rectangle/group object get higher than before?... Shouldn't this only change its width and compress the stroke - but instead, the stroke gets wider...?

Re: Different line width by path segment

I can't reproduce with an empty file and my own preferences. I know this problem happened in a previous version, though. Can you upload the SVG file? And perhaps also share your preferences.xml file? (could be related to the way how transforms are saved) If you're only dealing with rectangles, a wor...

Re: Strokes become spiky - why?

(if the circles are *exactly* above one another, and are *exactly* identical, this does not add any additional nodes - but merging wouldn't make any sense, then...)

Re: Strokes become spiky - why?

To clarify: it would have been unusual if it would /only/ have been a circle. The other options I described are surefire ways of adding more useless nodes, just as you say, Lazur.

Thank, Beth - that value fits the SVG data we saw. Let us know how it goes with the Python!
