Re: New user question re: break apart/ungroup

Assign another stroke color by shift-clicking on a color in the palette (at the bottom), or by choosing one in the second tab of the Object > Fill and Stroke dialog. The third tab allows to change the stroke thickness.

Brynn, as CR has been asking for bug numbers attached to each listed bug, could you dig them up, please? Then I'll add to the list. If there is no report, create one :)

Re: Inkscape has weird gray icons instead of defaults

None of them are specifically for Inkscape. They are for all programs on a Linux desktop. We are already using GTK with Inkscape, the Gnome Toolkit. On Linux, Gnome is a whole desktop. But GTK also works with other desktops. It's a bit confusing, admittedly. Anyway. They should all work with Inkscap...

Re: Inkscape has weird gray icons instead of defaults

Will it be possible to easily install your own themes? Well, depends on what you define as 'easily' and as 'own'. You can download new themes from https://www.gnome-look.org/browse/cat/135/ord/top/ and after unpacking, drop them into the folder that you can open by clicking on the 'open' icon in th...

You may need to play with the settings for bitmap tracing. There's a tutorial for it in Inkscape: Help > Tutorials > Tracing Bitmaps.

There's a fix available for this in Inkscape 0.92.3, just update.

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

Dunno, they had a huge effect for me when displaying filtered objects. But it really depends on the machine you're on. The problem with 0.92.2 is the default setting for the rendering tile multiplier. It was set to a fixed (hardcoded) value that wasn't a good choice for good hardware. After I change...

Yes, I know, no worries! I just hoped to improve your 'user experience'.

I mean these:
(rendering cache size, render tile multiplier)

They are fairly new, so maybe you hadn't seen them.

If you hadn't said it, I'd never have known :)

You can use these, if you want to change it (own work), but they are ancient (some of them scanned from photos, interesting colors...):

Re: Distribution of Objects inc. Group

That's how the tool works. It works with selected objects, which is a very useful thing.

You could select all objects inside the group, by ctrl+shift+clicking on them, or by entering the group with a double-click, then selecting them, then the other objects outside the group.

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

The problem with the drag&drop is that it would require extension authors to all follow a specified format. While we can do that, it's likely to cause a lot of breakage and frustration... Although it might be that Inkscape now discovers extensions in subfolders... I faintly remember something li...

Re: Gradient over multiple objects

Another way to do this (if you want the objects to all have a single color instead of a real gradient, but spread across objects just like a gradient) is to use this extension: https://inkscape.org/de/~biapy/%E2%98%85objectgradient

As this discussion seems to have reached its goal of collecting topics, and is now veering off into other topics (which is okay), I think it's a good time for summarizing your suggestions now for devs, which I have done now. @Xav, for your request for the drag&drop install, I think some effectiv...
