Re: trace bitmap (Inkscape 0.92)

The object is selected? And it is a bitmap? (first things first, probably not your issue here, but who knows)

Re: HTML Editor

Thanks both! :) The link to the java site, and knowing what tinyMCE really is (it's a js library plus some html that one can integrate into one's website - it doesn't make any sense to suggest that for editing html on desktop), did it for me.

There are two types of HTML editors in the system. ... TinyMCE is the default editor. htmlArea: The legacy editor, which offers a more basic WYSIWYG interface as well as a mode that shows only HTML markup. I also encountered the above as spam (previously* above brynn's) *moderator removed message, ...

Re: Object Manager Mysteries

There's a difference between 'above' and 'around'. There can be many layers in the root layer.

I can't see where it claims that the object is in the root layer, though. For me, it's added as a sublayer for the layer it's in.

That was because the rotation center needed to be set each time the node selection was lost.

Re: Can you resize an object within a group?

Maybe like this: https://framadrive.org/s/aRDHjTQHKWSk4nn This uses Grouping with Ctrl+G, duplicating with Ctrl+D, snapping the rotation center to a node, clicking with Ctrl to select an object inside a group, using Alt+Ctrl to move a node in direction of its handles, and snapping the triangle corne...

Re: Can you resize an object within a group?

I think druban is right, use the node tool. I'm not sure I really understand what you want to do, but it might be this: - Don't use the LPE - Draw your line - Draw your triangle - Snap them together at one node - Select both, switch to node tool - in the tool bar on the far right, there is an icon t...

Re: Converting patterns to paths

You need to use real objects (i.e. paths, instead of styles) for this, so either create the pattern manually and cut it with boolean operations, or use one the available extensions. https://github.com/evil-mad/EggBot/blob/master/inkscape_driver/eggbot_hatch.py or use the gcodetools area fill, depend...

Try Path > Difference with the M on top and the blue rectangle at the bottom, and both of them selected. Don't group.

Re: Can you resize an object within a group?

lightmare, please share a file for it, as requested, if you want help with it.

Just ignore the number fields in the dialog if you don't understand them and use the handles on the canvas, as shown in the video. They do the same thing as the handles.

Re: Can you resize an object within a group?

@lightmare your pictures look 'unsuspicious'. When it happens again, please share a file that has the issue. It might be that there's an additional LPE on the path, or maybe it just has a fill, or a filter applied to it.

What you described sounded like it worked as expected, only that maybe your understanding of the terms 'layer' and 'root layer' isn't complete yet.

Re: Honeycombs

Personally, I think users who aren't willing to learn about what 'open source' and 'user freedom' mean, or to invest a minimum of own work into getting bugs fixed, are maybe not the people whose bugs will be prioritized... This type of software calls for a different type of investment than the softw...

They have interest, but no time. They do realize this, but they are few, and there are 5000 bugs listed. Preparing a report as best as we can helps them fix it. I don't know how else to explain it. Just know that the core developers spend almost their entire free time on Inkscape. Helping them help ...

Cant we just post a link to this thread The report on launchpad contains some more useful info about the issue you have. This thread isn't a good source for developers. For all objects aside from groups and layers, it's just an indicator of the object type. Clicking on the indicator for a group or layer converts it to the other type.

Its very unfortunate the Object Manager is interfering with Inkscape's performance in such a severe way. Re: Object Manager Mysteries

T is for 'Type'. Can convert layers to groups and groups to layers. There are actually uses for this behaviour, many find it very convenient. Although, I agree, the way it's presented in the interface is not ideal.
