Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

It's a standard that each file has a licence header. The libraries are not included in Inkscape's source (at least the vast majority). They are their own projects. Some files in Inkscape's source code have a different licence and in some cases, this is problematic. It's also a thing that Max has bee...

Set the Area tab at the top to 'Page' or 'Drawing' or 'Selection' instead of 'Custom' (you're currently exporting a PNG image of 0x0 size.

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

So, today has been the last day of the Hackfest, and some of us may even still be at the Kitz, working. As I've had to do a lot of setup work for Kielux, I didn't get to see much of what happened Inkscape-wise. Chris continued to work on the video(s), and recorded a couple of short interviews with t...

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

Chris is creating a video that summarizes what happened at the hackfest, including some of the most important discussions. I haven't paid close attention, though, it's still going to be a surprise when it's ready :) So, today we met at the central railway station for a tour along the Kieler Förde (K...

Re: A4 landscape - portrait mode?

You could just take all the page contents and rotate it by 90°. The next major Inkscape version will support rotating the page (just for displaying).

You could also share the files, then we can try to 'spot the (relevant) difference'.

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

Hi again, today went by in a breeze... I've continued trying to understand new functionality and updating release notes, and also tested Thomas' y axis inversion branch a little. Then we had a visitor who was grateful for some tips and tricks that will make his work easier (which is creating symbols...

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

So, hi from home from the Hackfest :) Marc had looked into ungrouping yesterday, but found that the actual ungrouping wasn't slow, and didn't know how to proceed (don't know what happened today). CR is probably cutting videos or compiling pictures atm. Martin broke the extensions :) - and seems to b...

New Inkscape extension for exporting to FreeCAD file format

https://github.com/jnweiger/inkscape-svg2fcsketch will keep circles and arcs intact during export to fcstd file format of FreeCAD.

It's a work in progress, and the developer wants to tell us more about it at the Hackfest in Kiel this week.

Re: Creating a path around a slightly-rotated image

Don't convert it to a path, but just use the rectangle as a rectangle. Then you can use the rectangle tool to adjust the length of the sides. Use snapping. Or, probably faster: Switch to Bézier tool, activate snapping to object corners and cusp nodes (I think, you may need to try around a bit) and j...

Re: pattern-fill difficulty

I'd suggest you try to find a non-copyrighted vector version of France, instead of doing trace bitmap on a jpg.

If you want to use the traced version, though, select France, then do 'Path > Break Apart', then 'Path > Union' (without deselecting in between).

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

Thanks, TD, that's cool :) I've set the bug status to 'confirmed' (I think we all agree on these fields being a poor choice for their content) and added it to the Wiki. Also created a bug for the regular expressions in Find & Replace dialog. There are still a couple left here, esp. in the featur...

TD, do you think you could create a report for your friend about the tiny script entry text boxes? (if there isn't one yet)

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

Hey there, I've added bug numbers for one of the lists at http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... g_Fix_List .

Could someone please dig up appropriate numbers for the bugs in the forum list, and either post them here, or edit the Wiki page?

Re: How to AlignVerticalCenter to selection area?

Ah, okay. These commands (--verb) don't take any parameters currently.

If you're fluent in python, you could write an extension that makes use of Inkscape's simpletransform.py file, and can read data from a file... :-/

I thought it used the setting that was last set in the dialog for the command line functionality. So that isn't the case?
