Re: IMPORT SVG FILE

Hi, can you describe exactly what you are doing, in a step-by-step fashion? And also exactly what is happening? (or not happening) Can you look at your CPU and RAM indicators while you try to import? Does it happen with all SVG files, or just with one specific file? Have you followed the installatio...

I haven't asked, although I had that same question, too. Maybe you want to ask Jabier? https://chat.inkscape.org/channel/team_ ... HykfgXfbHS

Re: Filling Text leaves behind old color

I think you might like to work through one or two tutorials to learn a bit about the software and the way it works, rskaskiw. There are some that come with Inkscape, in Help > Tutorials, and there are a couple of other tutorials available online. This one could be useful, as well: https://vektorrasc...

Re: No Optimized SVG Option

I'd guess that Python extensions don't work for you, either?

If so, uninstall Inkscape, remove all files in the installation directory, and reinstall it *with* Python.

Re: clip of an image is not clipped when exported to .png

Hi - can you share the file, or at least a file that contains the problematic part? Please also:
- tell us your Inkscape version
- your operating system and its version
- share a screenshot of the png export dialog

Re: Dynamic zoom presets

One can change the step size in the settings, but that is for zooming with mouse scroll, or with zoom tool + click.

Re: What counts as a bounded area

Why would you use the fill tool for this, and not just change the fill color, or use a boolean operation to attain your goal? What is your goal?

And yes, it should work like that. See Xav's post below. The screenshot didn't expand for me, so I didn't look close enough to see that.

Re: Why double text outline? Example: Letter O has another O inside it.

Additionally, remove the stroke by clicking on the X icon in the Stroke Paint tab of the fill and stroke dialog. That's going to remove it entirely, if you don't want it.

Re: damaged files - loss of objects

If it still happens when you have checked that it's not a disk or RAM failure, and you gave Inkscape enough time for saving before closing the file, then I think it may be a (new) bug.

Re: damaged files - loss of objects

That file is broken. It contains incomplete markup in various different places. It's hard to tell what caused it. First thing: - enable autosaves (Edit > Preferences > Input/Output > Autosave) Then: - check your computer's hard disk and RAM for issues Additionally: - Make sure that when you save, yo...

Re: Writing text

If you're using Inkscape 0.92.3:

- switch to text tool (select the T icon on the left)
- in the tool controls bar, below the menu, look on the far right. There is a dropdown at the end. Click on it and select another value for 'text direction'.

The OP asks about an application of the name Pencil. Not sure if this is just spam, sounds spammy to me - but we may not know unless the OP responds, maybe with a link to the application they are asking about.

Make sure that also the fill color's alpha value is at its maximum value, and that the red object isn't in a group or layer that has its opacity reduced.

Re: Saving under wrong file name

It's not going to restore anything that was lost, but it might provide a fix for your obscure problem - I think it's worth a try. Meanwhile, make a backup of your files, if you worry about losing their content. Yes, unstalling first is recommended on Windows. Not doing so may result in a broken Pyth...
