Re: Mathematical formulae

@Houwing: Feature requests need to go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape However, I'm having doubts that with the existing LaTeX extensions, anyone will bother to invent yet another system for this. It's highly complex, and a system already exists. LaTeX is available, and it also seems to work ...

Lol, cool idea, Lazur :) How about talking with Tav about that? He's going to be able to give you a better impression of the interests and different backgrounds involved in the SVG working group (what I think is that they are probably already working together as well as they can, given their enterpr...

Re: Different Inkscape and Gcode origins

Sorry, can't open the pdf. But I know there's an issue with the creation of orientation points in gcode in Inkscape 0.92.2, which has been fixed for 0.92.3. If the orientation point seems moved horizontally for you, then please update Inkscape to the latest version. http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/ind...

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

@Xav : Your friend's wishes about larger, vertically scrollable text fields seem very modest. I think that would be something that maybe even a beginner could implement. (You don't accidentally know how to program? I think you're a javascript person, but not sure. Or you could ask your friend ;-)) S...

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

@phiscribe and @brynn CMYK pdf export with preflight checking is a huge project. In the background, Bryce (the head of the Inkscape board of directors) is working hard on putting together a viable way to implement it. The draft is several printer pages long... and it's far from finished. He is incor...

Re: If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

@Grobe Thank you! The click+crash thing sounds like it shouldn't be too difficult. For the layer thing, it would need Inkscape to treat layers even more differently from groups than it does now. I don't know how hard that is, but I agree it shouldn't be like that - the effect is on the layer, not on...

If you could choose 1 thing that must be implemented or fixed in Inkscape 1.0, what would it be?

As you may know (or now know ;-)), the next major Inkscape version is planned to be the magical 1.0. It will probably go through a longer beta (testing) phase, before it will be published. The Inkscape 0.92.x series will presumably be continued, and receive bug fixes, for still quite some time, even...

Re: Center text on point?

Probably, there is. But you would need to ask for a fix on the bug tracker at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape - please search to see if this has already been reported. I can confirm there's a difference in rendering between web browsers and Inkscape (Linux Mint 18.3, with the stable 0.92.x and t...

Yes, on launchpad, there is an 'Affects me, too' button, that increases the 'heat' of the bug report.

Re: How to free rotate an object programmatically?

Mmh, I've never seen that article. I have no idea what the current status is, but my gut feeling is that it's probably not going to be in a workable state. You could ask about it on the developer mailing list, if you want to get more qualified answers to that question. Currently, you would need to u...

I think lp uses a google captcha for registration. It's why Chinese users can't register there without circumventing their country's internet blocks.

Re: Tracing a Bitmap image.

If you really need to scale a raster/bitmap image up (sometimes that's necessary for trace bitmap to pick up the details), I'd suggest using specialized software for this, e.g. Gimp (free + open source raster graphics editor). It even offers different algorithms for upscaling. While Inkscape can sca...

If there weren't the extension that creates dials, I'd use tiled clones.

Dial extension:

Re: Combine two paths to have the same power stroke effect?

Yes, PowerStroke only works on a single path, without subpaths (a path will consist of multiple subpaths when you combine it). If a path has multiple subpaths, the first one will get the effect, the others won't be visible - this is what happened in your screenshots. You can either: - copy-paste the...
