Re: submitting/embedding fonts for free

Yep... don't know if I was clear, but at least Fontdragr is exactly what I expected. Font Squirrel looks more like a place to download. Still don't understand if it's possible to embed fonts in one's own blog directly from Squirrel servers without downloading. Whatever, I'll make a try on the sites ...

submitting/embedding fonts for free

Hi, I'm working on typography with a group of students that want to informally try their personal and each other's creations on the web. We don't have a particular and private server to upload the fonts to, so the @font-face CSS function (as explained here and here ) is not actually useful to us. I ...

Re: Help embedding svg on scribus

Hi: Well, four years have passed since the last post of this topic. Now Scribus is in its 1.4.0 (actually 1.5.0 though I prefer stable) version, Inkscape is 0.48.3, and I'm still having the problems already commented here. - .svg import to Scribus comes with just part of the text (still wonder what ...

Re: New erasing functionality poorer?

Greeeeaaaaat! So there it was! Editing my window manager's .xml preferences looked like easier compared with editing Inkscape's, as ~suv's link suggests first. So for those both using LXDE and preferring a definitive solution, this and this may help (note that none of them tells you the magic words ...

Re: New erasing functionality poorer?

Hi ~suv .
I'm using Linux Debian and yes!... according to the topic you've pointed out to me ("How can I make Alt+click and Alt+drag work on Linux?"), it looks like it's a windows manager interference. I would have never imagined a relation to OS.

Thanks a lot.

New erasing functionality poorer?

I''ve just upgraded to 0.48.3.1 and noticed a step backwards in the functionality of erasing. 0.47- used to have a clumsy :tool_eraser: that eliminated the whole object at the path of the brush, while the real and more useful erasing options were under a secondary functionality of the :tool_calligra...

Another CMYK question

Hi INKSCAPE community: I'm aware that, except for some new development that doesn't seem to be easy to implement yet(*) -for a non-programmer Windows user at least-, Inkscape does not support CMYK. Now, it displays the CMYK imported bitmap with very annoying colors and cropped. Is this expected as d...

Re: [SOLVED] Spray - Limit range to object shape border

I use pattern feature very much for this case, to be able to transform (move, rotate, scale) all the sprayed objects together inside the circle, manually. If that's useful for you... Don't draw the circle first as you would naturally do. Just group the sprayed objects and then... Alt+I (object > pat...

Re: Fill and strokes configuration for new objects

Ups, that's good, just amazed I didn't discover it before!!! Hope I tried well, but I insist, however, in the importance of having these properties set for "the upcoming objects" (kind of 'next object style' hopefully enriched with stroke thickness and other values) in a way that they resi...

Fill and strokes configuration for new objects

It's quite unintuitive. It would be much easier to manage new objects styles if, instead of depending on "last object style" or "this tool's own style" (preferences), they are available in the Fill and Strokes palette to be set BEFORE creating an object. As Inkscape is right now,...

Re: We tell you the angle, if you can read it in 0.01 second

I'm just an user, not related to developers or this site's administration at all, but I personally understands the way it is (which doesn't mean it can be better). As it's precisely a 'status bar' (I guess you mean this) it seems logic that it shows current aspects, thus when you're playing an actio...

Re: Inkscape to InDesign (eps only solution?)

Sorry I could have checked that myself. I'm afraid I posted the sample too soon. However, other files still result in rasterized eps after a double check and they seem not to be that obvious. For example, what's wrong with this other? problems_2.svg fixed_2.svg ((If it's something that you just find...

Great intro!!!. if you want to try your hand at it You hit the nail on the head. I'm so much at level 0 in this subject as tempted to get involved. For the moment, I just wanted to make myself a panorama in order to consider a realistic possible way. I'm glad to know (though not totally sure yet) th...

Any alternative visual interface for Inkscape?

Hi, I was just wondering if there's anybody redesigning or trying an alternative visual interface for Inkscape. I mean different icons and palettes, basically. I made Inkcape my everyday tool about two years ago, and I never got totally used to its visual style... always thought there's something so...

Re: How do I open/save this filetype?

Hi, CarlCraven's idea [see above] of programming Inkscape to make a constant PNG export of the currently open SVG file while it's being saved is just perfect to my project (I need EPS instead, in fact). To a total beginner in scripting (myself), could anyone say how to make Inkscape run this Bash sc...

Re: What's this little text window for?

Well, you know It's maybe expected to have productive reasons to ask questions, not just "just-to-know" ones... and that's why I took couple of years to do it + some ridiculous searching first. How would you google this, eh?

Thanks brynn. :D

What's this little text window for?

littleTextBox.png In layers palette, click on the white area and then anywhere on the palette. Type any letter. A little text box pops up and displays it for some seconds, then it dessapears. What you typed went nowhere -apparently-. What is it for? (just bothering me every time I choose a tool by ...

Hi, long time after...

thanks for the answers. No need to post again after Ivan's example. That's exactly what I needed, although it looks such a complicate configuration that I wouldn't discover it by myself.

In any case, just perfect. Another custom I won't miss. Thanks so much.

I've got this massage "The extension eps is not allowed." I loaded them here. http://www.gruporufina.com/92_originalCanvas.eps http://www.gruporufina.com/92_newCanvas.eps BTW, see they are different in weight (54Kb (before) to 13Kb (fixed)) Thanks very much

Re: Inkscape to InDesign (eps only solution?)

I believe Inkscape is playing with me :) I have 137 svg illustrations currently being exported to eps one by one. Most of them have some blur or transparency here and there so I'm obsessively cleaning them up to avoid any raster. I'm at #90 and I'm quite sure that testing every object of an image is...

embedding fonts for web publishing

I intended to publish my SVG graphics as web pages and found that text didn't appear in the browser. Then I dived a little into SVG documentation and learnt fonts must be converted and embeded. (If there was any clue on how to have this done, I didn't get it). Then I read in Batik webpage that a fea...
