Re: cut image outline

Two things you can do in your case. 1. Go into preferences/ bitmaps/ resolution for bitmap copy and change that to an appropriate number like 300 or even higher depending on how large your original is etc., then clip your picture and use edit > make a bitmap copy. Quality may suffer very slightly. 2...

Re: join lines at overlapping nodes

'Also making a simple Bezier line segment, can't stop after the segment, I need two at least to stop.' Assuming you mean clicks. This is as it is meant to be. Hardly anyone wants to draw objects in single line segments that have to be joined later; most users are drawing more complex shapes and pref...

Re: cut image outline

Ae you using Clip? Just saying 'cut' is confusing, because there are several possible things you might be doing. it sounds like you are, because Clip just hides parts of the picture. Are you trying to reduce the file size? Shrink the page to the Clipped size? These are the only reason that the unsee...

Re: join lines at overlapping nodes

Path Effect Power Stroke, which is used for the Triangle options, does not understand closed paths. The original implementation of shape used Path effect Pattern Along Path for all options, which works on both open and closed paths. If you are actually trying to work in Inkscape with a closed path a...

Re: Set lenght of a line

These answers have been given above already, and also you should notice that the question was asked (and answered) several years ago ! In any case the status bar at the bottom of the window tells you exactly how long and at what angle the line you are drawing is, which may not have been available wh...

Re: join lines at overlapping nodes

I join nodes all the time in Inkscape. I find the node and path editing commands in Inkscape to be better and smarter than other programs. Selecting nodes is multi featured as well. This page is an extremely useful reference for the hard-coded shortcuts, which can't be seen in the GUI (although I'm ...

Re: Export to PNG with custom color palette

Turning off antialiasing for the display makes no difference for PNG exports, it's pretty easy to check this, but of course I am running the standard version of Inkscape so this may not apply to special versions, if there is a version where this is different I would definitely want to use it (unless...

Hi Vince all the 'numbers' are also links to openclipart pages. is your browser set to 'don't display hyperlink in web pages' security mode?

Re: Export to PNG with custom color palette

Export at a higher resolution than needed (2-4x). Open it in an image editor, resize it down with no antialiasing and save it as a 64 color png. Maybe convert it to 64 color first if your editor supports an indexed mode.
This generally works although you might have to clean up a bit.

Re: Saving eps file

It is, incidentally, the policy of this forum not to provide aid in reproducing copyrighted work. so the first question: why would a public domain file have a watermark? Why do you need your file to be a particular size in kb? The (copyright?) watermark that you removed was probably a 1MB raster ima...

Re: Image not rendering properly outside of Inkscape

I have probably done the same as Polygon, but here are the steps I took for your future reference: 1 release the mask 2 select the mask and break apart 3 delete the rectangle, duplicate the circle (Obviously these first three steps won't be necessary when starting from scratch, just draw the circle!...

So I am offering a more wonky and irregular take since TD has done the accurate version - less Bauhaus and more my house! Mine is spiral based and a second one using a tapered spiral ... The first outline view shows the spiral and the rectangles used to add and subtract from it

Flowed text is a useful tool even if only for use in inkscape. I wonder if someone might be motivated to fix this bug?

Re: How to move a text frame using snapping

a better way from the beginning is to draw a rectangle and type the text elsewhere then select the two and do Flow into frame. Your textbox is not directly editable now but follows any changes made to the rectangle, which is editable and snappable like any other rectangle. You can't rotate it though...

Almost all the time you are dead on, Lazur, and probably this time too! But I don't understand what you mean about the gradient fill... Inasmuch as a radial gradient can approximate a highlight on a sphere for inaccurate but convincing illustrations I don't see the problem with any of these fills - ...
