Re: Water

Another note. If the three cutlines intersect in one point at the front, they are intersecting at the back in one point as well. Three cutlines intersecting:=three planes can be layed on each cutline, which are intersecting; Two planes intersecting have a line as a cutline, these three cutlines of t...

Re: Water

Thank you but I might have jumped too soon this time.
The cut line-ellipse can be non-tangent to the sphere/circle as well.
With such a height/width ratio on the ellipse I'd expected a view from a narrower angle, which would result in tangents.

Re: Water

Nice diagram! Just a note, even if it's for "eyeballing" an acceptable look. The cutline of the two spheres being an ellipse, right. Cutline is the same as if the spheres were split into two pieces by a plane. Now, let's look at the sphere on the left alone with that cutline=circle and ell...

Re: (Inkscape 0.92.4) Why don't my downloaded fonts show?

can you use the fonts in other programs? MSWord for example? Yes, it works there, but in Inkscape the fonts don't appear. Should I uninstall and reinstall inkscape? Hi. If that means *some* fonts are appearing, some are not -that's most likely not a font installing issue but the problem of the font...

Re: Transparency gradient based on color?

Hi.

You can use filtering for that. Setting the layer to screen blending mode would be "close enough".

If not, try applying this filter on the objects grouped together:

Re: black rectangles that show up in the icon preview

Hi.

Usually flowed texts are rendered as plain black since that's not an svg feature yet. This case it's not so obvious. Would need to examine the svg file.
Hard to tell from a screenshot. Maybe the drawing too complex could also be a factor but I have some doubts about it.

Re: Recreate embossed logo for vector/pdf

Hi. Filters are essentially px based as they affect the rendered image output and not the underlying objects -like the path effects. Unfortunately the pdf format doesn't support filters, therefore they are always represented by a raster double the best. If you want to go full vectors, there are basi...

Re: Help Removing Gray and Black Checkered Background

I can´t determine any transparent area in this file and it´s all raster image based - 2266 tiles/clones/parts etc masked by vector shapes for what ever reason. I saw that too in the codes. However illustrator tends to handle svg filters awfully and my wild guess was if there is still an editable fi...

Don't forget to aim for an svg. Illustrator should be able to save straight to svg.
Jet a simple pdf won't be better than an eps file.

Re: Help Removing Gray and Black Checkered Background

Uggh - I´ve never seen a mess like this in my whole vector drawing career in the last 3 decades. That made me curious. Inkscape 0.924 fails to load the eps. The alpha build I have fails to load it too. Imagemagick viewer loads it, but cannot print to pdf as expected. Don't really know what to expec...

Re: How much to charge for commissions?

Hi. It's never an easy part of the job to get paid just about right. Much depends on the quality of your design and quantity of the effort put in. The latter can be priced, the rest is the "extra" if you get going I suppose. Like if you charge more since your "brand" stands out o...

Re: Alphabet Blocks

Honestly they look cartoony and "fine" in small size only.
The perspective and the shadows are way off. If your goal was to achieve a realistic look, I'd suggest using some basic perspective drawing constructions.

Re: Resizing the handle points in the UI

Hi.

Not a solution but you might find the "show handles" path effect useful -available in th current stabile release.
With that you can set a custom node handle size.

Re: Alphabet Blocks

If only the box tool could have a "cubify" button to lock to the proportions of a cube.

Here are some cubes drawn with the box tool. Even though it probably won't help much with random position of the blocks.

1. draw 2 sides of equilateral triangle connecting three appropriate nodes of pink circles AB & BC, 2. draw 2 medians 3. snap gray circle center to intersection of medians D YES. My previous method was a bit overcomplicated. Guessing it's because I hardly using the rotation centre as a snapping...

Hmm why am I just seeing this now? Anyway, here goes my two cents. ⋅ draw star with 15 spikes ⋅ snap its top spike to to the bottom most node of the top dot ⋅ set its rotation/object origin to that exact node ⋅ pull down a horizontal guide line for the snappin...

Re: Multiple size display of icons

Hi.

In the preferences (Shift+Ctrl+P) under the interface options you can choose from 4 different icon sizes.
Probably you need to restart after setting one.

Whereas in the alpha build there is an option to update icons by a click of a button, choose from five themes and five icon sets etc.

Re: Seamless tiles for fabric design still getting lines between tiles

Hi. By the thin line you describe it sounds like the "rendering gap issue" -a phenomenon present with all current renderers using anti-aliasing. To avoid that you can pixel-fit your image to the exported area. Say if you want to export to a 2000 px/2000 px area, make sure your exported obj...
