Then you are most probably not using the latest stabile version.

Switch to the most recent one now -or wait for a few months and go straight for version 1.0!

Re: save in original dimensions?

Hi. Look more into the document settings. The default template has a display unit in mm and scale factor is set to 1. In addition, inkscape runs at 96 dpi. Thus can easily lead to some mismatch if your page size is set by mm and rendered by a browser at 72 dpi. So, when you pull in that image: 1.: s...

Re: How useful is Inkscape if my ultimate goal is to learn adobe illustrator?

Hi. Not much. If you learn inkscape you'll find illustrator an overpriced piece of software . Admittedly if you want to produce one-step print ready materials illustrator has an advantage. But as far as basic drawing/Bézier path editing goes, inkscape is more user friendly. Hence you may not want to...

Certainly. It was a long and sort of unfinished project from a few years ago. The result took a different turn, although there are traces of that journey . This topic is the most related to the calligraphy problem. "How to implement a custom pen shape along a stroke's core." Gerrit Noordzi...

Re: Delete StrokeStyle:Markers pattern

Hi. Try file/cleanup document or file/vacuum defs. They both do the same but the jargon changed between versions. Assumably you are using an outdated version, as inkscape 0.48 had bugs where tons of unused defs were generated by simple editing. May suggest to use the most recent stabile build (we ar...

Re: Basic question about 3D graphic file conversion

A 3D file format is used for storing information about 3D models. You may have heard of the most popular formats STL, OBJ, FBX, COLLADA etc This. Saddens me. http://files.explosm.net/comics/Rob/trebek.jpg On the bright side Druban could take it better. My guess is that 3D would mix pretty well with...

Re: Select objects with similar size

All you had to do really is use the Find and replace dialog (Ctrl F) and type in ' v 0' and search in properties (the default is usually text ). Nice found! That also cleaned up another 150 defs, making the file smaller, which might be a goal: so far a 1MB file has become a 129KB file, I estimate y...

Re: Select objects with similar size

Hi. For this specific project you may find a solution besides the previous requests where each path would take some analysation on their sizes. The small paths seems to be paths with 0 length. In the xml they look like "m 609,210 0,0" -that 0,0 is probably good enough to spot them all. At ...

Re: Moving everything at once

Hi. The cheapest trick would be drawing a rectangle exactly where you'd expect the page borders, then in the document settings (Shift+Ctrl+D) fit the page borders around that rectangle selected. Keep in mind this will store every coordinate the same just adds a general transformation matrix to the d...

Thank you for your interest! Currently got stuck with almost anything but everything. My plan was to save each glypth as a separate svg and share them on openclipart, once reaching my magical 3000th upload. Openclipart is down at the moment -due to some spring cleaning maybe? Surely it lacked develo...

Another note. If the three cutlines intersect in one point at the front, they are intersecting at the back in one point as well. Three cutlines intersecting:=three planes can be layed on each cutline, which are intersecting; Two planes intersecting have a line as a cutline, these three cutlines of t...

Re: Water

Thank you but I might have jumped too soon this time.
The cut line-ellipse can be non-tangent to the sphere/circle as well.
With such a height/width ratio on the ellipse I'd expected a view from a narrower angle, which would result in tangents.

Re: Water

Nice diagram! Just a note, even if it's for "eyeballing" an acceptable look. The cutline of the two spheres being an ellipse, right. Cutline is the same as if the spheres were split into two pieces by a plane. Now, let's look at the sphere on the left alone with that cutline=circle and ell...

Re: (Inkscape 0.92.4) Why don't my downloaded fonts show?

can you use the fonts in other programs? MSWord for example? Yes, it works there, but in Inkscape the fonts don't appear. Should I uninstall and reinstall inkscape? Hi. If that means *some* fonts are appearing, some are not -that's most likely not a font installing issue but the problem of the font...

Re: Transparency gradient based on color?

Hi.

You can use filtering for that. Setting the layer to screen blending mode would be "close enough".

If not, try applying this filter on the objects grouped together:

Re: black rectangles that show up in the icon preview

Hi.

Usually flowed texts are rendered as plain black since that's not an svg feature yet. This case it's not so obvious. Would need to examine the svg file.
Hard to tell from a screenshot. Maybe the drawing too complex could also be a factor but I have some doubts about it.
