Re: Problem with paths and blend modes

No problem!

Glad you could solve the problem because with the current filter editor it's hard to describe the necessary steps for someone not familiar with the interface.

Re: Problem with paths and blend modes

Welcome aboard!

That's sort of a rendering glitch. If you go to the filter editor, you can add a composite filter primitive with the filtered object as "in" source.

In general I wouldn't suggest using custom blend modes, they are way more resource heavy than they "should be".

Re: filters in progress

Just finished a sayagata/swastika pattern that can make a good use with a halftone template. Also it was a perfect source for testing woodgrain textures. https://openclipart.org/image/2400px/svg_to_png/290469/sayagata7.png https://openclipart.org/image/2400px/svg_to_png/290478/sayagata8.png

Re: hatch, crosshatch, rendering challenge

Hmm I think what you see there is how this filter represents higlights with unfilled areas and darkest tones with full coverage which is more of a flaw than a feature. Anyway, made a couple more of this wavy halftone with the exact template as before -there are now around 100 images in the series-. ...

That is, sort of.
Surely it takes more time but it is possible to trace the vector content. Like here.

Re: hatch, crosshatch, rendering challenge

Made a new template file with this wave pattern: https://openclipart.org/image/2400px/svg_to_png/290130/1510416058.png To suit the pattern, made some tracing of Japan related images. Figure of speech because for the actual tracing I used the online upload option of openclipart -potrace at openclipar...

Re: Inkscape accessing more cores.

Just a note that by ungrouping every object inside should inherit the style attributes of the group. Does it sound reasonable to bloat your image with the same code section multiplied with the number of objects? Woud at least try removing style attributes if necessary before ungrouping (fill:unset=/...

Re: hatch, crosshatch, rendering challenge

Update: uploaded the raster copies to potrace at openclipart.org so they could cope with rendering the thumbnails -so probably they were not using inkscape for that part, still it's mostly made with inkscape: https://openclipart.org/image/2400px/svg_to_png/289933/gondola-2017110821.png https://openc...

Re: Text as a line stroke

Glad you find it! You can select the paths and combine them together (Ctrl+K). Besides that I'm not sure how exactly arrange the node ordering. You can switch on rendering the path direction and use the visualise path/number nodes extension to get a sense of the path (cycle?). Maybe it's based on z-...

Re: Why cant i inset?

Hi. Inset works on paths, not on groups. You should enter the group for insetting (Ctrl+Enter) and select the objects inside (Ctrl+A). If that's a rectangle/ellipse, they will be converted to paths (?) and if it's a text it may need to be converted to a path first (? not sure, didn't test). And in g...

Re: Stroke not working on Group object

Hi. By grouping the paths the group doesn't inherit the grouped object's style attributes. First you need to add a stroke to the group to make the behave more as expected. (Now it is changing the width but displaying 0 in the spinbox right after because there is no stroke set.) Maybe combining the p...

Re: filters in progress

Can generate dots but can't ensure the result will be perfect circle shaped dots unless resampling the image to the same raster as the halftone pattern. Like it's more evident on this image: https://openclipart.org/image/2400px/svg_to_png/268901/A7.png Notice how the bottom left edge of the apple cu...

Re: hatch, crosshatch, rendering challenge

Had to modify the process a bit - even further - because the resulting paths had at least 30000+ nodes after some testing and there was one with even 170000+ nodes... probably too heavy for copy/pasting. Instead had to remove any unnecessary parts after the trace bitmap of the original -remove unwan...

Re: filters in progress

Is it possible to use this template with other patterns ? It seems to me, the stripes are made of a gradient. What about the classic halftone dot pattern ? This template was dedicated to that particular diagonal "hatching" pattern. To be as "fool proof" as possible. BUT the basi...

Re: Trim path tool?

Hi. A solution to that would be selecting the red path, breaking it apart (Ctrl+Shift+K), deselecting the "hole" subpath of the petal in question (Shift+Click), combining the rest back together (Ctrl+K), then adding this path to the one below (Ctrl++ after both is selected). Then, simply s...

Re: filters in progress

Thank's for the feedback! Points taken: https://openclipart.org/image/2400px/svg_to_png/289362/1509470664.png However kept a toned down checkerboard so that transparency is less confusing. And, with this process it may still be, since the original raster image filtered is rendered below the path. Ma...
