Re: Lock file to prevent simultaneous edits

Archicad creates an .lck file once you open a document, which then triggers the program to give an option to open the file with executive access or not by the second person to prevent saving over. Inkscape never had that feature as far as I know. All I can think is trying to use symbols, which may h...

Re: No-Brainer Feature Request: Variable-Width X/Y/W/H Boxes

Certainly flexibility lacks big time. On my laptop screen when the inkscape window is on the left or right half of the screen, the H box is missing. Too bad that is the easiest way to set up screen recording and then I'm forced not to use that feature or to make unnecessary moves -which may work or ...

tylerdurden wrote:In the Preferences dialog, you can set the resolution of the bitmap copy. I'd make sure that's between 300-600 dpi before using the bitmap copy operations.

Off topic:
I set that to the default 96 dpi screen resolution -even that can take too much time when dealing with filters.

Nice found. However the url-s don't embed as images here.

So using the url tag instead for your images:

Re: Layer modes difficulties

It can be corrected if you add a composite:in filter primitive to the filter chain. Guess it's a rendering bug.

In general.
But honestly after opening your file can't see the glitch at the moment. Testing.

Edit: attaching a test example.

Re: My rectangle has a to big selection around it

Hi.

That object is filtered -filtering uses a larger visual bounding box, than the geometric one (default filters use a 120% larger one).
Switch to geometric bounding box in the preferences (Shift+Ctrl+P) topmost setting, and/or remove the filter (#filter5360) from the object.

Since there was a server update at openclipart, the url-s may have broken?

Anyway, here is a link for the collection:

Re: How do I make lines pixelated?

Hi.

In the document's settings (Shift+Ctrl+D) switch off the "use anti-aliasing" box.

If you'd need your images to be fully black or -white, presumably- try to work with this template file:

Re: Convert Dotted Stroke to Fill in Inkscape

Hi. The dots are a result of the stroke having a dasharray -so it won't convert to a path as per se. You can create a raster copy (Alt+B) and trace bitmap the result. Or you can also try a development version compiled by Jabiertxof to test a dashed line path effect here . Once path effect added, con...

Re: Vector file and PowerPoint

Hi. Judged by the checkerboard background it seems it already has some sort of transparency. You can only use the png file to have an alpha channel -or the pdf file if you are very lucky but I doubt that powerpoint would support it right-. Would first try to see if powerpoint can display other semi-...

Re: Problem with image borders when exporting

Well... if you want to export a png with fully aliased-jaggy- edges, it is possible to do so with filtering. Recently made a template which you can use to produce fully black&white images out of any drawn objects based on their luminosity -with no anti-aliasing whatsoever. Will try if the concep...

Re: Export as PDF for business card printing

Oh. That's yet another completely different thing. On screen, in inkscape you work with the rgba field. Regular printers work in cmyk. Litho? Uses spot colours of choice -of the pantone library as you say. It doesn't necessarily have to be of cmyk, yet alone 4 colours only or max. Can even use a sin...

Re: Duplicating

Hi. Select the object and press Ctrl+D for duplicating. In the document properties (Shift+Ctrl+D) preferably set mm the default unit (if it's not already) and in the preferences/behavior/steps (Shift+Ctrl+P) you can set a step value of 10 mm. After those it'd simply be duplicating (Ctrl+D) and press...

Re: Export as PDF for business card printing

Hi. There is no dpi setting that would interfere the output quality *if you saved as pdf and your design doesn't use filtering*. Why? Because your pdf is 100% vector content then. On the other hand, art printers can print up to 2400 dpi, photographs are fine at 600 dpi -300 dpi is the regular text p...

Re: "S lettering process"

Just a note that while it's a good practice on using inkscape and learning construction methods, this approach is better avoided for serious typographic design. Outlines obscure the black of the letter, which should be the stroke itself alone.
As taught by Noordzij.

I'm pretty sure I have seen a similar topic a long ago here.
Join nodes joins all open ends -so yes, you need to deselect those to be kept manually before applying the operation.

Announcing Inkscape 0.92.3

Starting up faster. Crashing less. Still drawing freely. Inkscape 0.92.3 is mainly a stability and bugfix release, but it also brings some small new features, like being able to set an ellipses' radii numerically in the tool controls, or switching the writing direction from left-to-right to right-to...

One apple a day, keeps the doctor away.
Haven't been drawing much with inkscape lately, these are just quick filter editing. May pack them into one after 26th.
