Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

Isn't the conclusion more: it doesn't matter whether you have a perfectly symmetric 4-point envelope, Inkscape cannot (yet) distort the path in a way you want it to be, i.e. compressing a path only in vertical direction without distorting it in horizontal direction? I dont understand where you are ...

Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

Thats exactly what i tried to avoid, lol Im well aware of that technique and used it for a bit, because i didnt understand the Bezier Envelope is capable of doing it all in one go, instead of painstakingly breaking up the text, creating an envelope for every single letter and then applying one by on...

Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

That's gonna be tough to shape, even with symmetric nodes, considering the amount of arc. It might require a combination of tools/effects and node editing. So its the curvature...! Now that you mention it, i can see what you mean. The angle is probably too extreme for most font types anyway. Gimp h...

Re: Gradiant to follow inside path?

^-My first solution was exactly using blurring. Clipping and "punching hole" is not even necessary (as in the first linked example). This is what im trying to say, your answer is way over most users head. Yes, you talk about blurring, but also about filtering and adding a diffuse filter. ...

I thought i got this, but working on a badge design, im still struggling...

getting the handles perfectly symetric on top of this existing curvature is driving me crazy

Re: Gradiant to follow inside path?

There is an easier method. Make an Inner Shadow. 01. Make a rectangle in the colour you want the shadow 02. with your shape, punch a hole in the shadow layer 03. group (optional, but good for position adjustment later) 04. blur 05. clip with shape InnerShadow.png No disrespect to Lazur but his answe...

Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

You guys all know what the Bezier Envelope Extension is, right ? Tylerdurden recommended me in this thread: http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=32010&p=97216 But it only works on a perfect, four node, envelope path. And it seems a bit picky about how the path was drawn. Because...

Re: How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

I think i've found a good solution ! - draw a rectangle from the top left corner to the right lower corner - convert to path - select nodes and convert to curves (makes the handles extend) - hold down CTRL and move one handle up (adjust snapping angles in the Preferences as required) - drag a guide ...

How can i draw an envelope path with perfectly symmetric handles ?

I need this for the Bezier Envelope Extension. To work on full text in one go, it requires the handles to be perfectly symmetric. As you can see in my example, the shape i made seems perfect, but when you look at the handles, they are different on each side... I need them to be exactly the same ! Tr...

Re: UEFA starball logo

The ball looks like stars mapped to a sphere.
Inkscape doesnt have such a filter yet, afaik.
But you can draw the stars in IS and distort the bitmap in Gimp with G'MIC Spherize, then vectorize in IS.

The star circle looks like a job for Blender.

Re: Bend LPE and Transforms

The LPE is first applied to the transformed group object and the LPE path reflects the transform. After ungrouping, the transform is applied to each of the contents. When re-grouped, there is no transform on the group and the LPE path reflects that fact. This can be reproduced with any two grouped ...

Re: Bend LPE and Transforms

It's hard to backtrack what lead you having that result in the screenshot. My workflow was like this: 01. draw a rectangle 02. node edit so its an open path triangle (like a horizontal V) 03. clone in a circle with 8 copies 04. convert to paths 05. group 06. rotate into perfectly horizontal positio...

Bend LPE and Transforms

Not sure if this is the correct title. I made a fan of triangles (originally a rectangle) with tiled clones. Unlinked the clones, then grouped to apply the Bend LPE. As you can see in the screenshot, the bend path follows the line of the original triangle instead of being horizontal. I can fix that ...

Re: missing text

I guess the confusion comes from this:

in AI (and PS) you universally 'save as...' (.ai, .psd, .jpg, .png, etc.).

While in Inkscape (and Gimp) you 'save' a project (svg, xcf), but Export as .png (also .jpg and other imagetypes in Gimp etc.)

Re: How to mass convert text into path

After conversion to path they are still all selected, so they can be ungrouped en-masse with one action. Yes, but then i would have to go to every layer, collect my individual letters and Unite them, which is what i want to avoid. I was hoping there is a way to somehow select all text on all layers...

Re: How to mass convert text into path

Right.
Kind of obvious too.

I use to convert text into paths with a single Union, which would merge all text in a single action.

Totally forgot about the simple convert to path command. But then i still have grouped letters.....

I have a file with several layers and text on each of them.
Different fonts too.

How do i mass convert all text into paths without having to do it manually for every individual text ?
