Re: lost XML editor

I must reply to my own question. I happened to go to Document Properties and wondered where is that Page Border. To see what it does to my page, I clicked on it and, presto, that rectangle vanished. So it didn''t act on the page but on that pesky rectangle. Click and learn...

Re: lost XML editor

Having lost both my XML editor and my Stroke/Fill, I un-installed Inkscape then re-installed it. Everything seemed all right now but, another little annoyane surfaced: the opening page keeps displaying a vertical rectangle that is empty, looks like a placeholder. How do I get rid of that?

lost XML editor

It has worked well for months and suddenly I lost the XML editor. Where do I find it or, how do I get it back? (The program itself works all right.)
I don't remember what move I have done last.

Re: pattern-fill difficulty

I have discovered a surprising solution while awaiting your comments: When I did a "trace bitmap" with edge detection on the country, the outline became thicker. So this Inkscape novice deduced that the area it encompassed would be filled easily. Error! Yet, with several trials done, I not...

Re: pattern-fill difficulty

Here are two files for you to peruse: the base image France.jpg and the file destined to become a pattern
Eiffel.png. I'll be curious to know what you have been able to do or advise me to do. Thanks so far.
Oh, ING was a typo for PNG.

pattern-fill difficulty

No problem using one of my patterns to fill any and all Inkscape shapes that you find on the left side. It is when trying to fill exterior shapes (for instance, a country outline) that I find it impossible to do, even though I made sure to "trace bitmap" it. The same difficulty occurs whet...

Re: tiling

After a reset I was able to use rows and columns and the tiles no longer stack but, if I do the columns around a center point, the tiles ignore the crosshairs and do their own thing, i.e. the cercle is incomplete, or misshapen, or lacking tiles, or fails to go around the plus sign. I wonder if the s...

tiling

Hello all! In my version 0.92 in "create tiled clones" I encounter two problems: 1) only rows will work, columns don't do anything. 2) the tiles remain invisible under one another, they stack. However, when doing a circle rotation (with the rows) , everything comes out fine. Where do I go ...

FHMC exercise in paths

To complete this tutorial I need to place the Fuji mountain top over the text. But, I am unable to move it correctly: the white top keeps going under the letters. So, I move it up , without results. Then I do a " move down " with the letters; again the snow goes under the letters. This las...

Re: Inkscape has vanished

I downloaded Inkscape again and installed it in a directory to be sure. Even though I am the administrator of my computer I was not authorized to save in Program Files (!). I installed it in the folder recommended by the system (my name folder), copied and pasted it in Program Files with no problem....

Inkscape has vanished

I downloaded Inkscape beginning of April. It is in taskbar and start collection. I have used it until today with no problems. But, it fails to appear in the file explorer as well as the control panel. I do a search with Cortana and it comes up only with Internet addresses, nothing local. So I have I...
