Re: How to Draw a Line -- Tutorial

When Your just starting out with Vector drawing, and Inkscape..drawing a line is one of the first things you want to do, and I remember how frustrating it was before I realized...you can't really draw just a line. It takes some time to discover that what you really want is a path, of some kind. bryn...

Re: Draw your favourite cartoon figures.

What if your favourite cartoon character isn’t well known? what if its a very simple shape, and always simply drawn....is it still okay to post it? What if you have LOTS of favourites? Is it allright to just jumble them all together and post an image of them here? Are we only drawing animated cartoo...

Re: drawing lace with Inkscape

Hi Inkydinkydo, Welcome to The forum. Yes, I understand what your saying...you were very clear. Anyway, the lace drawings, including the lace heart should be a lot simpler to make than real lace but its the matter of learning the best way to go about making them that has challenged me up to this poi...

Re: How to Draw a Line -- Tutorial

This seems like an extremely thorough explanation of how to draw a line in Inkscape.
Maybe a little confusing for a new user, but very detailed.
Nice thought brynn, thanks.

Re: dxf import from layout/paper space - can it be possible?

I don't use cad software, so I cant recommend either creating your file in cad, and Importing, or just making everything in Inkscape...the work flow that is best for you should be what you choose. However, it would be nice if someone who has experience working with Inkscape in conjunction with Cad p...

p3m4la5 , Hello, and belated Welcome. I've followed the link you posted to show us your first Inkscape art work, ( I have done it several times) but Because I can't read the language, I can't tell what part of the page is your art. I didn't see anything there that anyone would want to laugh at, so I...

Re: Why has the Inkscape team given up on OS X?

About trying Linux: Many Linux distributions produce a Live cd, or dvd that lets you try the new O.S. without installing anything. You can look around, and try out the default applications, but you cant save anything you create, or install software. It's a nice way to get a general idea what will wo...

Re: bitmap problems

problems like this are an unfortunate side effect of antialising, and no matter what drawing program your using this can happen. Could you explain what your doing, and why in more detail, so that we can come up with an idea that might be helpful? For example....why do you need both the svg file with...

Just over a month after the question was posted, I've come across this topic, so I'll answer as though the folk who asked might still be looking for the answers. For using your raster images ( just like Brynn said) you cant edit them in Inkscape as they are. You can use bitmap/trace to vectorize som...

Re: Fill page with patterns while minimizing wasted space

You could try asking in http://www.inkscapecuttingdesign.com/index.php but I think you'll get the best results with manually placing your objects, and then saving the layout
You've made to re-use again.

You said: BTW, the "Clean-up" part was done using The GIMP, and refers to cleaning up the scan a little. The Inkscape part is "Trace and Colour" (and "Final Assembly"). That much was clear, so great job there. I didnt think the video was meant as a tutorial...and it was...

I like your border frames brynn, yes, please post the svg for the circular spirogram.
When I finish the christmas/new year projects I'll get back to the lace, and see If I can finish the heart.

Re: Transparency of objects

Merry Christmas By default Inkscape creates new gradients with one stop at full opacity, and one at full transparency. You can easily make the transparent color fully opaque by moving the transparency slider all the way to the right ( setting opacity at 255 ) and then change the HSL color value with...

Re: Can't find legacy Gradient Editor

Can you please explain a little more precisely what you are doing?
for example...are you double clicking a gradient stop node on the canvas, while the gradient tool is active?
Or is the gradient tool :tool_gradient: not appearing in the toolbar along the left side of your Inkscape window?
