Re: Changing Font

Hi,
Do you have the required fonts installed on your computer?
If you do, they shouldn't change when imported. If not, then
Inkscape will replace them with what it guesses is a close match.

Inkscape 0.48.4 where are the bounding box settings?

I recently upgraded to Inkscape 0.48.4r and I'm having trouble finding the controls to set my preferences for the bounding box. I'm making patterns, and I want to use the geometric bounding box to avoid the big gaps you can get between pattern tiles. The bounding box settings don't appear in Inkscap...

Re: Where Inkscape has an xcf save option?

prokoudine, Hi :) In response to your responses: 1. I'm not holding my breath. but switching from Inkscape to gimp and back again would be easier. 2. I may have been wrong about .pat but I'd just saved a .gpl file from inkscape the day before I wrote that message. let me doublecheck it. hmmm, I dont...

Re: Where Inkscape has an xcf save option?

Hi brynn, no, I'm not saying it's a bug. I'm just saying I dont know how much Inkscape versions for Windows, mac, and linux differ in what they do, and dont support....and that my memory on what was supported in the windows build in the past is unclear, and unreliable. Today I asked a relative to op...

Re: Where Inkscape has an xcf save option?

Inkscape Can save files as xcf, but for now in Inkscape 0.48.4r. it will not import and open xcf files . Maybe that will be fixed soon though. If they can be saved by inkscape, they should be able to be opened to. ..and as far as I know, Inkscape and Gimp developers have always tried to support cros...

Re: How to add fonts?

babegirlblue, I thought the font name/file name might be a problem with your font, so I installed it to see if would work for me, and it does work just fine. Can you use the font from your office software, or the gimp, or anything else? Here it is in my Inkscape window. I added an outline to try and...

Rumpledelf, hahah, glad you got some responses, and it sounds like you got a bit more than you bargained for. :P Some paintings and 3d artwork might translate very well for your steampunk project though. I laughed when you said some of the submissions were awful, it was tempting to submit steampunk ...

Hi Brynn,
I know this isnt a totally new topic, so forgive me for replying so late.
I checked the contact list at : http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... nformation
but there isnt anyone listed for Mac Os-x on that page. You could try asking on the developers mailing list.

Hi nickwit Go back and Visit this page, and then choose the ppa for your distro/version from the drop-down list and install it. https://launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/+archive/stable (or activate it in your software sources if you still have it there.) The new inkscape version will be listed as Inkscap...

Re: Unable to open a large file (12MB)

MelM If you have a free RAM slot on your motherboard it would be worthwhile to install more RAM. Any graphics work you want to do will likely need more of it than what you have. I have quite a bit more than 658mb, but both gimp and Inkscape can still lock-up or lag badly if I'm working on a very det...

Re: Looking for a fantasy/steampunk artist

I think there are quite a few people who could, and would do both, if the opportunity were presented to them. It may still be better to have a small team though, that way when your primary artist is unavailable your not totally out of luck. On the one hand, you'll want to maintain a consistent artis...

Oh yes, I can totally sympathize with anyone trying to find something specific on Deviantart, chances are good it's there somewhere...but the search engine may not find it until your looking for something else. Nonetheless, its a great place to browse and wander. About your project, I'm curious now....

Re: Synchronize gimp into inkscape

I do think its a little odd that you can save an Inkscape file as xcf, but not import an xcf file to Inkscape. Edit: RobA, Could you explain how your script foo works, and how to use it, in a way technically challenged people like me can understand? I like that in Inkscape, I can export almost anyth...

Re: Selecting colors/Outlining/Backgrounds

To add an outline to an object, shift+ click a color in the color palette near the bottom of the Inkscape window, or choose it from the stroke tab of the fill and stroke dialog. To create a transparent color fill, once again...open the fill and stroke dialog window { control+shift+f ] , click on the...

Re: object to stroke type

It seems like you want to define a new stroke style, so that it will appear in the fill and stroke palette as a stroke, and can be used to outline an object, just like the pre-defined strokes that come with Inkscape. I don't know how to do that, but maybe you could create a custom stroke marker to g...
