Re: How can I divide an object by horizontal axis equally?

Just for the records... I played a little more and found a way which works also for odd shaped objects and any cuts as well (see example below). Actually it's pretty forward: Instead of drawing rectangles or duplicating things you just draw your desired cutting lines. 1. draw your cutting lines (F6)...

Re: How can I divide an object by horizontal axis equally?

This might be one way to do it if you don't mind tiny gaps: 1. draw a rectangle which has a very small height of let's say 0.001mm (hard to see) and a width which is larger than the width of your leg. 2. align the rectangle with the top of your leg (Shift+Ctrl+A) 3. make a copy of that rectangle and...

Re: [solved] How to export selected layers to DXF?

From the menu
- File
- Save a copy (Shift+Ctrl+Alt+S)
- Select Filetype
In my installations (Inkscape 0.48 or 0.91) "Desktop Cutting Plotter (AutoCAD DXF R14) (.dxf)" is the 15th from the top.
There you can also directly save it as PDF.

[solved] How to export selected layers to DXF?

When drawing on different layers I expected to be able to select individual layers to be exported by making the others invisible.
However, it looks like the DXF export function always exports all layers.
Any ideas how to export only selected layers?

[solved] Boolean operation inaccuracy

There is a strange behaviour with boolean operations: For example, I draw two squares with 10x10mm and no outline and place them next to each other by removing the overlap. Now, I want to combine them because I need a single object as one area. If I mark the two squares, the dimensions are correctly...

Re: How to change drawing scale (µm, km, 2:1, 1:5, 10:1, ...

Typically for litho mask drawings people are using Gerber or DXF or other formats. However, the DXF export from InkScape does not really work. I had very strange results when importing these DXF files into a CAD-Software. Another example, geographical maps have scales of 1:25000 or 1:50000 or others...

Re: How to change drawing scale (µm, km, 2:1, 1:5, 10:1, ...

Thank you for your comments. 1.- The SVG format is not (yet) a CAD format. OK, then I am maybe misusing Inkscape as a CAD-tool. The application is simple. Drawing e.g. lithography masks in microtechnology. Its not very comfortable and readable if you have to type in always 0.005 or 0.1 (mm) instead ...

How to change drawing scale (µm, km, 2:1, 1:5, 10:1, ...)?

I'm pretty sure that I am not the first one asking this, but with the forum search I couldn't find any satisfying answer. I would like to fit a drawing e.g. on a A4 page but still would like to work with the real numbers and units. Inkscape allows to work e.g. in mm, cm and m. However, not in µm (Mi...

Measuring areas

Hi there, For measuring areas there is the function: Extensions | Visualize Path | Measure Path... It works fine for arbitrary paths. However, it doesn't work for objects like rectangles circles... OK, so I have to change those objects to paths: Object | Object to Path Now, it works for the rectangl...
