Re: Isometric drawings

Hi Oooh I don't think you have realised just how good Lazur's method is! If you double click on the rectangle you get the rectangle tool up which allows you to type in the height and width of the rectangle. If the rectangle is rotated you get the height and width correctly entered as you would expec...

Re: Using Grids

Hi

The grid IS on top - problem is you don't see it as your rectangle is the same color.
You can change the grid color in document properties ( Shift Ctrl D ) - use the Grid tab and change the major Grid Color, an alternative is to use a different fill color for your rectangle.

Re: How to pick color from other file?

Hi.

To get color from one instance of Inkscape to another.

In the "from" inkscape - click the object with the color you want to use - copy to clipboard - (Ctrl C)
Switch to the "to" Inkscape - click on the object to receive the color, paste the style (Shift - Ctrl - V)

Re: Isometric drawings

Hi. To retain the scale when using Lazur's excellent method the object has to be scaled to 86.6025403% ( cos(30°)*100) vertically. This can be done either before or after the Skew / Rotate sequence. A tip to speed up the workflow is to make "ready-made" objects and just copy the objects, i...

Re: Fill behavior changes based on zoom level

Hi I must have hovered over every button 10 times and looked all through the menus, but I can't find anything called "merge double nodes". I googled "inkscape 'merge double nodes'" as well. "Merge double nodes" does not exist! What you are after is the "Join Select...

Re: Fill behavior changes based on zoom level

Hi

Can you post (part of) the troublesome file. Someone might be able to figure out how to "join" the nodes (withoit making it worse)

Re: Fill behavior changes based on zoom level

Hi. Normally there are no "need" for a bucket fill tool. I see it as a "leftover" from pixel based programs. To "fill" your shape make sure the shape is "closed" by joining end nodes if necessary, then use the stroke & fill menu (Shift Ctrl F) to set the f...

Hi.

See section 7.4 in the SVG specifications.

"The Manual" also contains a section on transformations.

A tutorial on SVG transforms.

Chime back if more info is needed.

Hi. I've posted several messages on the Openbuilds forum but no one has answered me yet. I'll let you know what happens. Is it OK to come back here if I get into difficulties with my design. It's a pity that the Openbuilds forum is less "active" than this forum! I see that the design of th...

Re: Trying to select inside a scanned image

Hi If you have the V-rails and the V-groove bearings in hand (so you can make measurements) it's relatively easy to calculate the exact position of the holes in the plate. Even if this takes some time it's quicker and much more accurate than the "trial and error" method. By using eccentric...

Re: Trying to select inside a scanned image

Hi. If you know the measurements you are much better off creating this from scratch. Import the image into Inkscape Create a new layer called background, Move the image to the new layer and lock the layer (click the padlock). Create guidelines for holes on the left side. (As the design is symmetrica...

Hi. Yes this is possible! Here is how: Pull a guide from the horizontal ruler to the top right node, pull a vertical guide to where you want the snap to happen. Enable snapping of nodes (I enable all the snapping options and just turns off the one's "getting in the way" when I work). The n...

Re: the circle tool doesn't let me switch between modes

Hi. Edit For me, both values are 0 to start. For me too! Just too used to referring to a circle going from 0 to 360 degrees (although I normally think in terms of zero to two * π - using radians instead of degrees.) BTW, you can set the start position of the "0" degrees to be either at the...

Re: the circle tool doesn't let me switch between modes

Hi

After "switching to arc" you have to adjust the start and end angles.
The default of 0 and 360 still gives you a complete circle. :)

Even with transformations like resize, decrease number of colors etc. the watermarks will survive. There are commercial and free versions of watermarking software available. Hi. Ragnar was here.... ,) Paint bucket applies both - fill and stroke. Wow - I did not know that! :) (Never too old to learn new tricks!) "Normally" you would not want the stroke when you want to fill a region, or? You should take a look at Manual, especially if you plan to work in Inksca...

Re: Help Tracing a Bitmap?

Hi. The advice to use the paint bucket was a "bad one". (It works on bitmaps and the accuracy of the "fill" will be dependent on the page magnification.) Instead use the proper tool - the stroke and fill property of your object - to get to the stroke & fill dialog press Shift...
