Re: Newbie Here....Suggestions? Best Way To Learn

I like to follow the active topics and download/open SVG files that others have shared, to see how they are assembled.

Best way to get help is to provide example SVG files illustrating problems.

It might need to be un-grouped.

The status bar should indicate an image is selected:

Re: Master Template for Signs

I don't know why it works online for me, but not locally, in Chrome. FF works for me local and online. Safari is a no-go, but it seems Safari prints frames as bitmaps anyway, so not worth using, imo. Some folks may need to unblock javascript to use the pages. It should be noted that the form will up...

Re: Master Template for Signs

Here's a bit of cosmetic cleaned-up stuff. No webpage in the lower frame, just the svg file. (The svg has a script added that will print the frame when the print button in the form is pressed.) screenshot2.jpg The SVG can be easily replaced by another svg named PrintSign.svg, as long as the script i...

Re: Master Template for Signs

I'm barely capable to understand frames.

I also figured for the OP's requirement to make it idiot-proof, calling a print frame from the other would ensure only the image gets printed.

Re: Master Template for Signs

Well, a bit of copying, pasting and pathetic flailing has resulted in a framed page with javascript form that modifies the svg file. (Product, price) screenshot1.jpg It is hosted live here: https://googledrive.com/host/0B-v9qgbEGAVPaVFkd2ZJRWZnODQ/frameset-demo.html The page has a link to the zipped...

Re: Open EPS with gradient

AIUI, .eps can handle gradients.

Inkscape seems to have trouble reading/writing .eps, but perhaps the version of Cairo here needs updating. (v 1.11.2).

Have you tried saving as "plain svg" and opening in Corel? Not quite as fast as copy/paste, but might suit your needs.

Re: SVG and inkscape SVG

Inkscape SVG files include the construction/design information: guidelines, grids, layers, etc. Yet, they can be displayed by many systems that display standard SVG files, because Inkscape uses SVG as a construction format; it does not use an intermediate or construction filetype. Editing a standard...

Re: Copy and Paste Problems from Inkscape to Corel

Which version PSP? First, I would see if the image can be copied from one instance (window) of Inkscape to another Inkscape instance. That should indicate if the clipboard is getting the data from Inkscape ok. Next I would see if PSP can do the same thing: copy and paste to another instance or windo...

Re: Inkscape 0.46-0.48 won't vector cut on ULS Laser

I have exactly the same issue when I try to cut with the Laser Cutter Epilog Helix 60 W using Inkscape 0.46. No matter what settings I use that only rasters data, never cuts and the computer attached only runs in Windows. I can't switch computers or OS because both laser and computer belong to Tech...

Re: Master Template for Signs

Actually is good idea Hulf... My brief search online tells me SVG files can be integrated into web pages and manipulated with javascript. Consider a framed page where submitting a form in one frame updates an svg in the other frame, then the updated frame contents can be printed. (I am worthless at ...

Re: SVG File won't show up in browsers

A couple things come to mind... The location of the content might be outside the browser view (I'd try resizing the document to contents). Browsers might be less tolerant of non-spec svg elements, if there has been any tinkering in the xml, any spaces in variables can clobber the display in browsers...

Re: Master Template for Signs

I might approach this way: Pre-print the artwork on your cardstock/paper. Create a PDF form with LibreOffice Writer, that only allows data entry of type-style/size and located to register onto the pre-printed stock. User would fill the form and print on the preprinted cardstock/paper. You could also...

One thing that might be happening is that stroke-only paths are being filled. Not everything between corel and Inkscape transfers well.

Re: How to make this kind of an image

Hi Lee, A vector illustration is always going to be 2D, so some form of tracing or "view generation" will be required to get from 3D to 2D. 3D programs like Blender, Sketchup, 123D and other CAD are good ways to visualize shape, orientation, light and shadow. Those will need recreation in ...

Image

That's something I would probably model in a 3D program and import to Inkscape.

There are also many svg braids online to borrow and experiment with... a spiral path could be used to modify the braid.

(Or, is it actually a helix, rather than a spiral?)

Is the uploaded file the original output?... it looks like an inkscape version.

The original untouched file from the lens program might be easier to mod.

Here's an un-touched waveform with ~3K datapoints, made just pasting v1nce's code to the dataset. No problem for inkscape, even on an old computer.
