You could upload the file anywhere, and give us the link.

Re: Having trouble with union I think

I assumed he or she had left the gaps on purpose, or else I would have done that as well. It's quite time consuming to select the right parts, if you leave the gaps intact.

Re: Having trouble with union I think

Ok, hopefully you can follow this. I just made a couple of paths that are a similar shape to yours (since I didn't want to go through and fix your file). But the same process will work for your file. https://inkscapecommunity.com/jd/vids/lu.mp4 I'm not sure why, after the first time I used Cut Path,...

Re: Having trouble with union I think

Well, the file can be fixed, it just would take some time. Inkscape does have an extension which I thought it's purpose is to join many short segments together. But I just tried it in your file, and it does not join the nodes. Apparently it only combines them. (https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-...

Re: Help Removing Gray and Black Checkered Background

If you could share the EPS file.... Or open the EPS file in Inkscape, and save as SVG, then share the SVG with us, then we could tell you for sure, instead of doing all this guessing.

Yes, Moini's right. You should be able to close and re-open Trace Bitmap as many times as you want. If you can't, we should report it.

Re: trace bitmap (Inkscape 0.92)

Oh, I see now! That definitely looks buggish to me. I think the best thing to do would be what Moini suggested. Try uninstalling that version, and installing the current stable version, which is 0.92.4. If you still see this happening with that version, it should probably be reported as a bug. We ca...

Re: Clipped Images Are Still Acting Unclipped (Kind of?)

I can't understand the problem, because I don't know how to view WEBP image format. Never even heard of it. What can be used to view it? Your browser might need a plugin. Most browsers support the format. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebP#Support Thanks TD. I tried Firefox, but couldn't see them. ...

Re: Newbie - working with svg file

It sounds like you need to set aside some time and just dig in to learning Inkscape. Whether you learn best by just opening it and start playing, or you want to follow tutorials, is up to you. But we can't tell you how to draw something, not even knowing what you want to draw. Actually if you wanted...

Re: Issues with interface of status bar

My best guess is that's going to be a new bug with that higher resolution. If you feel comfortable reporting a bug, you can do that here: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/issues Click on the green New Issue button, and it will ask you some questions and tell you what info you need to provide. I'll ...

Re: trace bitmap (Inkscape 0.92)

Oh, you mean the Trace Bitmap dialog is empty??? I wasn't getting that at all from your description. It's why we love the screenshots. I'm not sure if Windows 10 has this, but Windows 7 has a screenshot tool called Snipping Tool. You can find it in Accessories (if Windows 10 has it). It makes PNGs. ...

Re: rules/guidelines for the new forum

If anyone cares, we have a couple of proposals for the rules and guidelines.

https://gitlab.com/inkscape/vectors/content/issues/45

They're essentially the same, we just need to agree on a format.

Comments and suggestions are very welcome!

Re: Object Manager Mysteries

That's because it *is* in the root layer. You have selected 'Layer2', after having it converted to a group. Of course, I know it's in the root layer. I wasn't confused about that. I'm confused because the group can't be moved up into a layer above where it appears to be now. I think it either needs...

Re: How much to charge for commissions?

I would suggest that it's more important to write a contract than it is to agree on a price. The contract should be signed by both parties. Of course you probably don't want to hire a lawyer at this point. But at least look online and find some kind of boilerplate contract that will cover your back....

Re: trace bitmap (Inkscape 0.92)

Sometimes when you use Trace Bitmap, it looks like nothing has happened, because the results are precisely on top of the imported image, and exactly the same color. But the results are there. You just have to drag them over to the side. So first, I would suggest to make sure that really nothing happ...

Re: Object Manager Mysteries

It says it in the status bar, when it's selected. Attached screenshot. It still indicates Layer 2 in the dialog, although I can understand why it takes the name of the former layer. But the status bar says the new group is in the root layer. Can't move it up because it says there are no more layers ...

Re: Object Manager Mysteries

It's just that all my experience with the "root layer", it's the highest layer. If I try to move something out of the root layer, and I try to move it up, the status bar says "no more layers above". So that gives me the idea the root layer is on top of all the other layers (invis...

Re: Can you resize an object within a group?

I'm not sure why you use a group for that (triangles at the end of a line). It looks like you could draw the line and the triangle as one object. Then just select the nodes of the triangle, switch on the handles, and resize only those nodes.

Re: Removal of unwanted contour line parts

I can't tell exactly what that 2nd video is doing, because I can't read that language. I'm also not sure what you mean by "twice in every node". If the path has a variable width, as it appears in both videos (I notice in the 2nd video, they used Spiro Spline mode), you would first have to ...
