Re: Help cutting out pattern from path.

Depending on how that pattern is created, or more specifically what it's made of, there might be an alternative to clipping, if clipping won't work for some reason. I would need to see the pattern in the SVG file, to find out for sure.

Re: New user question re: break apart/ungroup

He provided a file in the other topic: https://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/index.php?topic=1217.0 (He provided 2 files. I suggest the PDF is better.) I don't think the raster image is good enough quality for auto-tracing. But people who know raster graphics a lot better than me, might know some way ...

Re: Why is there a calligraphic effect on my strokes?

That group (#1883) won't always be showing in that dropdown menu, which is the Layers indicator menu. For this file, it looks like almost everything in the file, is in that group. So selecting almost anything will select that group (if it's not in the menu). But just for general purposes, you can fi...

I don't understand why a key is needed. Why is clicking the mouse on the canvas not sufficient?

I think it's the same project, but the info given is fairly different between the 2 messages. Otherwise I would not have answered both messages.

Re: New user question re: break apart/ungroup

Please upload it somewhere else, and give us a link to it. I can't speak for everyone, but I can't make much sense out of what you're doing. Importing a scanned image implies that it's a raster format. But since you've apparently been able to ungroup it, it must be vector drawing. I have no idea wha...

Could you provide some more details about what you're doing? Do you mean you're using the commandline? Or shell mode? Or some kind of script? How is the server involved as opposed to just your computer? Is the server CPU and memory maxed out? Or your computer's cpu and memory? What kind of processin...

Re: Let lines simultaneously been drawn

Maybe "ghost pen" or "ghost ink pen"? ("Ink pen" kind of harkens back to when I was a child, growing up in the south, where "pen" and "pin" sound exactly alike when spoke with southern accent, and "inkpen" was commonly used for clarity.) Wh...

Re: Help cutting a "circle" image

In case you decide to try Inkscape again....(because good luck drawing that logo in GIMP or Paint) Inkscape's background is transparent by default. You didn't need to make it red, to identify which part you wanted to remove. It was already transparent. Inkscape does offer the traditional checkerboar...

Re: Clip, Set, strange effect after move/ctrl-x/node-move.

Ok, so let me get clear on the steps to reproduce. -- draw a curved path using Spiro Spline mode -- duplicate -- give one path the color and the blur -- use the other path as the clipping path, and clip it -- copy/paste the result When I follow those steps, I do see somewhat similar results. See att...

Re: Why do objects jump out of layers

Hhmmm, are you talking about actual layers or sub-layers, which you can find in the Layers dialog, or Objects dialog? Or are you referring to objects which are stacked on top of each other on the canvas? Could you show us an example of what you're talking about? I can't quite imagine what you mean. ...

Re: Wacom Cintiq 22HD or XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro display drawing tablet for digital art

I'm not a tablet user, so I can't help much. But I did want to ask what "multi-touch input" is. I'm not sure if Inkscape can support that, although again, I don't really know what it is (or what it means).

Re: Problem with modifying a specific .pdf file

Either I don't understand the problem, or I can't reproduce it.

When you said you opened the file, ungrouped and moved some graphs, do you mean that where you moved them, is not where we see them, in Test3.pdf?

Attached is what I see in Test3.pdf, using Adobe Reader.

Re: Lock file to prevent simultaneous edits

I've never heard of such a feature. Although I might not be understanding your meaning. The one who saved first would only lose their work, if the 2nd person who edits, removes the work that the first one performed. Not unless one of them saved a new file. What if the first one saved the file under ...

Re: Clip, Set, strange effect after move/ctrl-x/node-move.

Hhm, I think I'll need to see the SVG file. Could you share either the same file as you showed above, or one like it? The only thing I can think at the moment, is that you might have the clipping path option enabled, and you accidentally dragged the clipping path, instead of the object's path. Did y...

Re: Can someone develop an app for me?

Your link hasn't been deleted. But it doesn't work. I'm not sure why you think Inkscape developers could do this for you. It sounds like you're dealing with raster images, while Inkscape is a vector graphics editor. I don't quite follow exactly what you need, or why the process you described takes a...

Re: Preview mode?

I'm not familiar with that program. So I can't guess what you need. What is it that you either want to see or don't want to see, that you don't already see on the canvas? Inkscape has View menu > Display Mode, where there are options for viewing everything except filters, or Outline Mode which only ...

Re: Let lines simultaneously been drawn

Yes, it sounds like you need animation. Here's an overview of different ways to use images made in Inkscape, to create animation: https://inkscape.org/en/learn/animation/ Many ways! But Inkscape doesn't have animation by itself. Actually as I think about it more, I'm not sure what kind of approach t...

Oh, you're talking about the fact that you can only see, typically, 3 digits on the left of the decimal point and 2 on the right, even though there may be any number of digits. Right? I guess it would not take up much space if those fields can automatically expand to hold whatever value they contain...
