Re: trying a tiled clone w/radial placement

FYI for anyone who might be following this or search it out -- the info about the transformation data being assigned to the layers, and causing the distorted radially tiled clones, has been added to Bug Report 284709 as a comment. Still yet to be "confirmed" or "assigned", at thi...

Re: 3 Qs re stroke join style

Oh, I see, so the way you did it, it is still a stroke in the end. That's very clever! I didn't like the offset idea either, for the same reason you mentioned. I was thinking along similar lines, but I went Stroke to path, duplicated, scaled down duplicate, then did Difference. So my final product i...

Re: Control + click = no dot

Ok, I'll add a comment with a new file to the other bug report. Because I don't participate or even receive the mailing list. Maybe I'll add the tiled clone file as well. Thanks again for your help :D [Edit] Both issues added to Bug #284709 Also, I'm rewording the title of this topic for easier sear...

Re: aaarrrggh - clipping!!

AAAaaaaaaaahhh!!! I found it. There is a setting under Clippaths and masks in Inkscape Prefs (not props): "Remove clippath/mask object after applying". Ok, I know I must look stupid, but here's why I thought it should be unchecked. Early on when I was trying to learn clipping, I didn't qui...

Re: aaarrrggh - clipping!!

Sorry for the delay, I had to take a quick break. I'll post this to let you know, in case you're still waiting. Then I'll edit with info, answers and comments. Thanks. [Edit] I'm on Windows XP Home SP 3, fully updated. Ok, freshly rebooted, brand new doc, 3 objects in one layer, top one for clipping...

Re: aaarrrggh - clipping!!

My build date is April 1, 2008. So see it if I under stand what is happening. You select 3 items do a clip and you still have the green and black item left as well as a new clipped object? Yes. just to be sure. Close out of everything reboot your computer restart inkscape and open a new file and try...

Oops, how did you slip that reply in there?!
It's working for me, even with all 3 items selected at once.

Are you kidding? It's working for you? What could I be doing wrong

Re: aaarrrggh - clipping!!

Oh no Early, you can't get down on yourself. I think we're all here to learn more about Inkscape. And using myself as an obvious example, sometimes we get things wrong, while we're on our way to getting them right. Right? To answer your questions: Neither object in the group has been clipped or mask...

Re: Control + click = no dot

Thanks micro. Do you mean literally speak with a developer one-on-one? If so, who and how? Email? How would I figure out which developer handles this kind of issue? Or do you mean make a bug report? Either way, I'll wait until you can open the svg file in my new topic on clipping, because indeed we ...

Re: Control + click = no dot

Ok, I did just now. It works! What's the deal? [Edit] Whoa!!! Thinking along the same lines as my missing clipping path in another recent topic, I thought maybe the dots could be elsewhere on the canvas. And YES! There are all the dots I've been trying to make, some 1500 to 1800 pixels to the left, ...

Re: 3 Qs re stroke join style

Imagine the outline of an object is a rail and a wheel is connected the rail at its centre. If the outside of the wheel created a big blue smudge as it traveled around the rail it would create the shape you see, including the corner. Right, I understand that micro. Would it be particularly difficul...

[solved] can't make single dots using Ctrl + click

Hi again, For some reason, which I hope to learn here, I can no longer make dots using Ctrl + click. Here's what I've tried as far as troubleshooting so far: 1 -- I made sure that the pen :tool_pen: and pencil :tool_pencil: tools have their own style in Inkscape Prefs, ie - they don't take their sty...

3 Qs re stroke join style

Hi Friends, I've made a quick image to illustrate my questions: http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/5650/strokesamptm5.png 2 identical pentagons, one with the sharp or mitered stroke join setting, and the other with the rounded style. 1. About the rounded style, is there any way, using the stroke set...

Re: what about non-rectangular canvas?

Ok, thanks zials.
Yes, I know about using a transparent background to make it appear that a border is non-rectangular. I do know how to do that.

My mind surely can ramble though  and I wondered if it was possible. Anyway, thanks :D

what about non-rectangular canvas?

Hi Friends, I'm just finishing up an image, and I really want it to have a round border. I don't want a round image inside a square border, I want a round border. But I just don't see a way to do that. (I debated for some time whether to post this here or in the Help forum -- hope I chose right :? )...

Any other comment about improving this logo welcome. Thanks. I was going to suggest that any smaller, and the words on the directional arrows couldn't be read. Re: The Cake is a Lie!

Ugh, what a nightmare -- not the image, but the description of the cake!

I think it's a nice, very UN-appealing piece of cake. Setting it against the black background and with the white lettering is very effective, I think it really makes the colors in the cake pop.

Very nice work!

Absolutely not! I didn't mean to sound negative, I just wasn't sure. And if you did it all with Inkscape, I wanted to ask how you did the background (so I could try it).

Oh yes, I recognize your examples from your Guide, I've read the clipping section many times. The Tavmjong Bah Guide as well. Are you saying that the clipping path does not have to be transparent (or have no fll/stroke)? I know that nowhere in either guide is it said that the clipping path must be f...

Re: trouble with clipping

Thanks for reporting it micro, because I still don't understand everything that's happening. I understand that you've been able to find the errant clipping path, by using something in the 0,47 dev version that 0.46 doesn't have. So I understand that I never would have been able to create a sample fi...
