Re: Ladybugs

Hi again, Well, I've made what I hope are improvements. But I'm really struggling with the black areas. Giving dimension to a completely black object is probably a little too advanced for me. But now that I've put so much time into it, I really would like to have something to show for it, ya know? S...

Re: clip, unclip, add layer, clip again

Ok, I'm lost :? I undid everything back to where I had unclipped the original Clip...well, just before that, so that the unclip never happened. Then I tried to add the new duplicate to the group of clipped duplicates. But it didn't work. So I thought maybe the new duplicate should be below the clilp...

Re: a couple of Qs about Undo History

I've never even looked at the history palette until this post LOL! omg, I'd be lost without the Undo HIstory! I'd really like to be able to undo a single step within the middle of the history without having to undo all the steps since then This option is not available in The GIMP (or at least...

Re: clip, unclip, add layer, clip again

The only time you should need to release a clip is to change its shape. Ooooooohh!! Ok http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/1939/thumbsupdb3.gif You mentioned that however the clipping path looked before being used as a clip is how it will look when the clip is released. That makes me think I'm doing...

clip, unclip, add layer, clip again

Hi I'm working on an image, and in one part of it, I have a what I call a base layer (solid fill) of an object, with 2 layers on top of it which create highlights and/or shadows. Some of the highlights I ended up blurring, which creates areas of whiteness outside the border of the object. So I group...

[solved] a couple of Qs about Undo History

Hi Friends, The 1st question is a quick one: Is it possible to clear the Undo History in Inkscape, like in The GIMP? It really would be helpful to speed things up, when working with complex images (with a lot of memory hungry things in it). I've been just saving, closing and reopening the image, to ...

Ok, I guess I understand as much as I possibly can, at this point in my graphics "journey". Thanks for your comments, and for helping me understand this http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/2980/yellowhugqd5.gif I truly appreciate your help! No problem about going slightly OT, llog and others....

double Preview!

Hi micro, I'm not sure how this happened, but I thought you'd be interested to see a screen shot . Sorry for the tiny size, but I had to do that, to get most of the page into view. It's the 2 Previews on the same page with the text editor, that I think is unusual. As I said, I don't remember what I ...

Re: why can a blurred Fill show outside the path?

Hi again, Yes, I have thought that using a clip would eliminate the part of the blur that falls outside the border/path. And I also appreciate the discussion about duplicates and clones. I'm sure it will be helpful. But I'm kinda lost as to how it pertains to my question. Micro, I do follow your exa...

why can a blurred Fill show outside the path?

Hi I'm curious why, when you blur a Fill, some of the blur falls outside the border or path. I understand that happens when you blur a Stroke, because part of the stroke also falls outside the border/path. But when you select an object or path, and fill it with a gradient, the gradient stops at the ...

Re: Ladybugs

Thanks for the link, micro. I look forward to reading it. You mentioned manipulating the image pixel by pixel, which I do quite often with The GIMP. But I didn't think you could do that in Inkscape. Are you suggesting raster type apps are better for making smaller images? Also, I did use shadows, al...

Ladybugs

Hi Friends, Here are some ladybugs I've been working on. I think they're pretty close to being finished. But I would love to hear any comments you might have -- areas that aren't working, or just could benefit from some improvements. The 1st one is intended as an icon for a webpage. http://img143.im...

Re: cupcake

Hi Well, I've still been working on the cupcake image. I've dropped the ones with icing/frosting, because it's just too advanced for my skill level. Maybe if there were some bitmap or other Effect I could use, like I did with the cake part...but I couldn't find anything in Inkscape. I guess I could ...

sculpt node handles?

Hi Friends,
Is it possible to sculpt node handles? I know you can sculpt nodes by using the Alt key and dragging the nodes, but it doesn't seem to apply to the node handles. Is this expected, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for your help :D

Re: Ad Astra #1

Very nice -- impressive! I would just have one comment...following a couple of questions. The circle with the sawtooth border, where the space ship is coming out of (or into) is the "protective "jump bubble"" right? So what we see behind the ship, through the bubble, is the other...

Re: Cropping an object

There still may be several ways to accomplish what you want, depending on your specific situation. And I'm not knowledgable enough to give you step-by-step instructions. But in general, a Clip or Mask might do it. Or you could break all the relevant paths at the place you want it cropped, then delet...

STILL confused about snapping

Hello again  Ok, this is in 0.46. I have the Snap settings as follows: What snaps = Nodes Snap to objects = Snap to nodes, Snap distance = 25 Snap to grids = Snap distance = 10 Snap to guides = Snap distance = 20 Should nodes snap to each other? What I'm working on at the moment, some nodes s...
