Re: Active topics, Unanswered Posts sections disappeared

I upgraded the forum last night. After every upgrade I have to go through and re-modify the code with our customisations. This includes customisations to the template, and our Anti-spam stuff. I ran out of time to reapply some of the template ones, but I'll get to it sooner or later.

Re: Small atachments should behave as icons in text

Maybe it would not seem like such a huge task, if it were limited to buttons which have no menu item? Originally I said, "I'll limit it to just tool icons". Now we're asking to "limit it to buttons that don't have a menu". But it won't stop--some will question why icon "c&q...

Re: Small atachments should behave as icons in text

None of the tool icons are SVG--they are all GIFs. In any case, you'll notice that the only icons provided are for the tools. It has been requested before to add other icons--I'm afraid I can't find the thread. But I decided against it as I don't want to set a precedence that would result in every s...

Re: A few questions on forum etiquette.

It's better to post multiple topic, rather than one with multiple questions. Just because it's then easier for people searching the forum. Course language is ok in creations, but include a warning in the topic title. I think when people post a creation on the forum, they have to expect some feedback...

Re: Professional and Inkscape: A Short and Dirty Affair

Cute. I was mistakenly under the impression this was a moderated official support/discussion forum for graphic design software, but I can see now from the responses of the site administrator that no, this is a GameFAQs for a toy. Inkscape.org is not a business, it does not pay employees. We are a c...

Re: Professional and Inkscape: A Short and Dirty Affair

That's how you deal with UI complaints? You say "No, you're doing it wrong, duh"? What response were you hoping for when posting UI complaints to a 'users' forum. But arguing that I'm just using it wrong? That's absurd. If I went to a Illustrator forum and started listing complaints about...

Re: Professional and Inkscape: A Short and Dirty Affair

Firstly, Inkscape does indeed have a flawed UI. There is no doubt about that. Anyone who would suggest otherwise clearly is not knowledgeable enough on the subject to have a valid opinion. You barely scratched the surface of the UI issues that Inkscape has--in fact, the ones you did list are the mos...

I expect Inkscape won't change the file externally link to it (rather than embed). Although that may not suit your needs.

I haven't heard of anyone having this issue before... but I don't frequent this site as much as I used to :) If you haven't already, try the suggestion in the second topic of the Frequently Asked Questions . Sometime these issues are due to a corrupted profile and the instructions on that page could...

Re: Order of atachments

Attachment order isn't something that is something I can influence--this forum is written by others. Although I'm confident that the developers would not have intended attachments to be ordered, anymore than you can order attachments in an email.

I would just use the inline method.

Re: Inkscape redesigned icons

Your icons look excellent. I'd use them. And I agree that they need a face lift.

You might hit some resistance with making these the default icons, but you may have luck having them included as an alternative.

The best place to ask is on the developers mailing list.

Re: How to draw line

After 2 hours I still cannot draw a ****ing line. The frustrating thing is that you haven't provided any information that could be used to improve Inkscape. If the developers are reading this, they know you don't know how to draw a line, but they don't know why. Is it because you can't identify the...

Re: new image for visitor index page, competition

Actually I guess it doesn't have a transparent background, which micro mentioned. It's only a guideline, not a requirement. So don't let the guidelines restrict what you think will look good. Is there any limit on how many we could submit? there is no, limit. It's not really a competition. Submit a...

Re: new image for visitor index page, competition

I'm not against using a splash page, but I hope others will take the opportunity post something a little less... obvious and a little more "out of the box". Personally I'd prefer something that doesn't mention Inkscape but illustrates the fun that can be had with Inkscape.

Re: new sub-forum? -- Logos

It's no surprise that there are many topics about Logos as vector tools are well suited for designing them. I suspect a more suitable forum would be "Design", where members can discuss design theory not specific to Inkscape? I'm hesitant to make one specific to Logos as it's just too speci...

Re: new image for visitor index page, competition

There are no strict guidelines, but here's some general advise: ⋅ It needs to scale down well - as small as, or smaller than 200px. ⋅ Can be any ratio ⋅ Does not need to have any particular theme or include the Inkscape logo - just needs to look good and be representati...

Re: Creepy picture shown to unregistered users

I'm happy to switch the image to something that better represents the forum--it never occurred to me that anyone would find it "inappropriate". But I'm not going to go to the effort of having a rolling collection of images, or having a monthly voting contest--I prefer to keep the maintenan...

Re: Can't upload SVG or SVGZ file

Those forums don't allow file uploads. You'll need to host your file with another site and link to it. Refer to Where can I upload my images? for suggestions. The reason for this is because I can only offer a limited amout of storage, at which point older files are deleted to make room for new files...

My apologies. The messages displayed aren't configurable, so it's just the way product is. Perhaps the developers will correct this in a future version.
