You can't change it yourself. Only the forum administrator can change someones username--that's me. How many times do you intend to change your name that you would be asking?

Oh, and your image, Maestral, gave me a good laugh :D

Re: Can't find my picture, ruler too big

The numbers are big because you are a long way off centre. But your zoom is now correct. View > Zoom > Page, really should have worked to correct your zoom and pan the canvas back to your page. Selecting View > Zoom > Drawing won't have done anything if you haven't yet drawn an something on the page...

Great illustration :)

Go to View > Zoom > Drawing, or press 4. Alternative you could zoom to the page.

Re: New to inkscape, having trouble with Erase tool

Think of vectors as physical objects in the real world. What you have is similar to a piece of paper. You can't erase the edge away from a piece of paper, you are technically reshaping it. If your circle was fill black, the effect would look more like you had erased it. What you want is a something ...

Re: Jpeg to monochrome SVG

Technically you can, using the Trace Bitmap feature and playing with the tolerances. But in this case you could use the right tool for the right job, which is to use a raster editor (GIMP, Photoshop, Paint.net) to adjust it to B&W. After you've done that you could put it into Inkscape and used t...

Re: What should the role of the moderator be in this forum?

This situation is my fault. Brynn has been the only person keeping the forum running and I have not made myself available to support her when she has needed. I understand if you may have felt unfairly treated, but I suspect she felt provoked. Managing this forum is a lot of work and it doesn't sound...

Re: need Filter for embarrassment

I apologise for my long term absence on this forum--clearly it's suffered somewhat from having someone here to draw a line. I'm going to refine Brynn's suggestion of etiquette: 1. If you don't have any constructive suggestions to offer another member who has asked for assistance, please simply refra...

Font issue on Windows - Invisible characters

Since an update for Windows released on Dec 11, some fonts may not display in Inkscape. This is a fault with Windows, not Inkscape, and may affect other software. The update that introduces the issue is KB2753842 and Microsoft has confirmed the issue. To work around the issue, you can uninstall the ...

Re: Bound text between an inner and outer circle

Link the text to the shape is what you want, but you just need to create a more refined shape to suit the exact placement you need. For example, create a copy of your circle shape, the cut it back so it's only as big as the space you want to allocate to the text. And then obviously remove any fill a...
