Re: Introducing Myself

Welcome capnhud.

Feel free to ask any ridiculous question you have :) You will unlikely be the only wanting answers and we all know how difficult it can be to get to know new software. I look forward to seeing some of your work.

Re: a cool set of swirl "brushes"

I think it is some sort of hotlink protection. Try copying and pasting the link in a new browser window (you may need to refresh if the page is cached).

Re: simulating depth of field tutorial

hrum has a pretty impressive gallery of Inkscape work. You can also find that tutorial on the Inkscape 0.45 screenshot page, along with a bunch of other nice tutorials that shows off Inkscapes potential and power.

Re: activation email

I've changed the e-mail settings for the forum in hopes it will get out to the world properly. I've resent the activation e-mails. If you are waiting for an activation e-mail it should come through within 15 minutes of the time of this post. If you don't recieve it, please let me know.

Re: Great start

might be worth doing some pimpage on DA as well. I mentioned it in my blog, which is in the planet inkscape feed so hopefully some people will notice. Thankyou for mentioning the forum on the Inkscape blog. And thanks for mentioning my guide - I'm quite proud of it :) I've now posted a comment on i...

Re: Forum categories and subjects

Thanks for your suggestion. I can appreciate where you're coming from. I know there have been forums I've participated on where the seperation of content makes the forum clumsy to use when you have jump between different sections. On the other hand, I like to have distinct categories so you can igno...

Re: Great start

This needs to be the official forum Inkscape.org is prepared to host a forum, but required volunteers to run it. I probably should have offered my services, but being accountable to an official inkscape community isn't something that appealed to me :) There was a lot of opposition to the creation o...

Glad you got it working in the stable one.

I experianced this myself. So it's a known issue that doesn't need reporting?

Re: Where do I upload my images?

Dont forget if you have it up at deviantart you should be able to use the Embed link to put it in your posts here. Not currently. The forum only accepts BBCode, no HTML. I would have to create some custom BBCode to allow embeding of images from deviantArt. I believe deviantArt is a great resource f...

Your first Inkscape drawing

I think it would be interesting to see what peoples first Inkscape drawing was. So post them here. This is mine: http://www.microugly.com/images/art/private_dancer_200.png The original drawing was by King Cheetah , I simply inked and coloured his pencils . Until this drawing, my previous work was cr...

Re: Vector Flourishes

You create them in much the same process as he described in his tutorial, Illustrator: How to Make Custom Swooshes, Swirls, and Curls . Inkscape doesn't have "brushes" like Illustrator, but you can still create a shape and apply it to a path using "Pattern along path" (under Effe...

You mean guest posts? In future it may be turned off. But at the moment, whilst membership is so thin, guest posts will remain open to help build content in the forums. Nobody wants to become a member of a forum that isn't active. And guest posts will help create activity until we get a larger numbe...
