Re: Some pages in one file

It's not possible at present (bug 170369), because there's no support for multiple pages in SVG (though this will almost certainly change with SVG 1.2).

Re: How to place an object in the center of the project?

Select the object, open the Align and Distribute dialog (Shift+Ctrl+A), make sure it's set to align relative to the page, then click the button to centre horizontally, and then the button to centre vertically.

Re: [C++]How to parse SVG Path.

The SVG path specification is easy to follow, and includes a BNF grammar. It should be straightforward to write a parser for it in C++. (I did one once in Python, and it wasn't hard.) I found this file using google: http://inkscape.modevia.com/doxygen/html/svg-path-parser_8h_source.php But I don't k...

Re: End marker on rectangle - how to get rid of

Select the rectangle, then open the XML editor (Shift+Ctrl+X), click on the 'style' attribute, find the 'marker-end' property in the edit box at the bottom and edit it out (everything from "marker-end" up to and including the next semicolon), and click Set.

By the way, you can get the same result by omitting the first two steps: just union the text.

Re: Grid Extension issue

As long as you're not expecting users of the filter to run the Grid extension themselves, it won't matter if they have "Allow relative coordinates" checked.

Re: Grid Extension issue

It seems that the Grid extension wasn't written with relative coordinates in mind. This is bug 401567.

If you uncheck "Allow relative coordinates" in Inkscape Preferences (in the SVG output section), the extension should work correctly.

Jameshfisher wrote:(1) does the SVG standard allow transclusion as I describe

Yes, just use the name of the SVG file instead of the name of the PNG file.

(2) if so, is it possible to do in Inkscape?

Yes, but for some reason it doesn't work in Windows.

Paths cannot branch. This is a limitation of SVG. There are various ways to fake it, of course, depending on what you're trying to achieve.

Re: Share a new Effect

If you think this extension is something that could usefully be included in a future release of Inkscape, then posting it to Launchpad is probably the simplest thing to do. Just open a bug report saying that you've made this extension and that you would like it included in Inkscape, then post the fi...

Re: how to fit Text onto perspective

The only confusing this is after I apply Object to path on a text the status bar turns from Text to Group of x objects . I expected it to indicate Path . Yes, that's a bit odd, and is a change from 0.46. A group of paths (one for each character) might be useful in some cases, but this behaviour doe...

Re: how to fit Text onto perspective

I have to ungroup the text to single letters to make the object to path operation work. No, don't ungroup. The perspective effect can work on a group of paths, but it doesn't work on a bunch of separate paths (unless you combine them). Actually, it's probably best to do Combine directly on the text...

Re: Problem with missed Font

The name of the font should be in the SVG file. Open it in a text editor, and search for "font-family" (there will probably be several occurrences, one for each bit of text). Alternatively, you can use the XML editor in Inkscape: select the text, open the XML editor, and look for font-fami...

I grabbed Inkscape-0.45-1.win32.exe. This seems to work. That might work, but it's Inkscape 0.45, which is about 3 years old. The following thread may possibly be relevant, although the error message is different than the one that Nilla had: error launching installer message when i try to install .

Re: Need transparency for image in website

I am saving the file (as .png) If you mean that you are using the "Cairo PNG" option in the Save As dialog, then that's what you're doing wrong. The Cairo PNG option is experimental and essentially useless, and appears to have been left in by mistake. Use Export Bitmap (on the File menu) ...

Re: Failed to load the requested file

Since the XML can't be parsed, there's no way to fix it in Inkscape. You will have to fix it by hand. If you can't work out how to fix it yourself, post a copy somewhere so that we can have a look at it.

Re: How can I import a EPS file into Inkscape?

The problem seems to be that ps2pdf tries to write a temporary file to the current directory (instead of to the temp directory). If the current directory isn't writeable, then this will fail. What could I do to solve this? Try the following: In the share\extensions subdirectory of your Inkscape dire...

Re: How can I import a EPS file into Inkscape?

As I've pointed out on Launchpad, the things that are omitted when opening in Inkscape are outside the bounding box of the EPS file, so it seems reasonable for them to be discarded - they are not part of the EPS image itself, just extraneous junk. You can make Inkscape import everything in the EPS f...

Re: How can I import a EPS file into Inkscape?

That bug report is unrelated, since EPS import is completely different in Inkscape 0.47 than in Inkscape 0.46. The 0.47 method is to convert the EPS file to PDF (using ps2pdf) and then import the PDF file. It's unlikely that ps2pdf is doing anything wrong, so this is probably a PDF import problem.

You can use the perspective extension for this (Extensions -> Modify Path -> Perspective).

See the Inkscape guide for how to use this. (But the instructions there seem to be slightly wrong - I find that I need to select the quadrilateral second.)

Note that you don't have to use the installer - you can instead download one of the archives (inkscape-0.47-3-win32.zip or Inkscape-0.47-3-win32.7z) and install it yourself (just unzip it in some suitable location). But if you want to use the installer, the first thing I would check is that there ar...

Im not sure what you do to put them in the box in inkscape. Download them from the site, and install them on your computer. Then they should be available next time you start Inkscape. How to install fonts on your computer depends on what operating system you are using. For example, on Windows XP yo...
