Re: Free copyright protection for digital artists

The way I understand it, copyright is free to begin with. If you drew the picture originally, (or wrote the text, performed the music, etc.) you own the copyright. Period. Exact. And most people tend to not understand this, indeed. The problem is not "getting" the copyright (because, as y...

Re: Free copyright protection for digital artists

Still not sure what would be best, email or Google Drive. Google Drive allows changing the file afterwards, might complicate things. You can easily do both: send yourself the file (or to a repository account), upon receipt, save to drive. Drive will indicate file info: created, opened and modified ...

Re: Free copyright protection for digital artists

Thanks for the links! For steganography I also found a program that runs on Linux with a GUI: SteGUI , but it seems that it's not maintained anymore (?). Didn't test it... Anyway, don't know if steganography is necessary... Seems a bit of a hassle to me and not worthwhile as someone can take a scree...

Re: Free copyright protection for digital artists

You might just upload a copy to Google Drive and leave it. That's a third-party whose records cannot be manipulated by outside actors (other than the NSA). The timestamps and IP addresses will indicate you were the originator with 99.9% certainty. Interesting idea, even simpler than email. And as i...

Re: Free copyright protection for digital artists

Why to worry about copying when the originals are not published? It's just a question of peace of mind I guess. There's a lot of cowboys out there finding any and every way to abuse others. I have the feeling that if I can't make my "ownership" hard in some way, I will have totally nothin...

Free copyright protection for digital artists

I have been thinking about easy ways to protect oneself against people ripping off digital artists by using their published work without their consent. I know you can register works with the US Copyright Office for instance, but if you make a lot of works, it's too expensive. And any free registrati...

Re: inkscape on touchscreen

Interesting, thanks for the link. Apparently one needs a touchscreen device with a few modifier buttons (like a Wacom Cintiq) for really comfortable use. The on-screen keyboard idea might be a workaround. I tried Florence just now (inspired by this article ), it does work and even holds the modifier...

Re: [SOLVED] Contact inkscape.org webmaster about error(s)

OK.
I already reported the fav bug here and it has been handled, same for the link as you have seen. Very efficient and rapid by the way.
Thanks for the help!

[SOLVED] Contact inkscape.org webmaster about error(s)

I've been searching all over inkscape.org for a way to contact the webmaster without any luck (but maybe it's just me). I've found a few errors and would like to communicate them. Anyone knows who I should contact and how? Here are the errors, just in case: 1. On the Report Bugs page , in paragraph ...

Re: Is this a bug (incomplete export to PDF)?

Try exporting again after removing the thin strokes assigned to the fingerprints (they are already outlined (stroke converted to path), and the miniscule stroke width still applied does not really contribute to the visual appearance, but seems to trigger the cairo problem tracked for inkscape in bu...

Is this a bug (incomplete export to PDF)? [SOLVED]

Attached SVG-file, upon export as PDF, is incomplete (the "fingerprint marks" are missing in the PDF). Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

inkscape on touchscreen

Hello, I would very much like to hear from people who use inkscape on a touchscreen device (with stylus) - laptop, tablet, ... I use a Wacom Intuos drawing tablet now, but drawing directly on screen seems like a dream to me. Is it, or isn't it? Which hardware/model/brand works perfectly, if any? Can...

Re: Creating a rubber stamp

I just found this tutorial and found it great, really helped me. I had initially the problem that when I did "intersection" nothing happened, just wanted to share my solution here: I had to select the text I had in the circle (actually a rectangle in my case but that's of no importance) le...

copyright and revenues for digital images

Hello, I am new here and wanted to ask a question about copyrighting digital drawings. It has no direct link with Inkscape as such, but it's an issue that I imagine lots of you are familiar with, and I'm not. I recently began making drawings in inkscape (great program by the way) instead of on paper...
