Re: Convert text pattern to path

If I remember correctly, I grouped a rectangle and a few bits of texts, and did Object to Pattern. Then I used that pattern as a fill. No scripts or anything, just standard Inkscape. It didn't become a raster image, because I do have problems with fonts. I upgraded Ubuntu in the meanwhile, and don't...

Convert text pattern to path

I made a drawing some time ago, using text as a pattern (see also detail of the drawing ). I would now like to turn the text into paths, to avoid problems with missing fonts etc., but how do I go about it? Actually, I don't seem to have access to the pattern? (I can see it in the XML editor, but I w...

Re: Resizing an svg to selection.

As far as I understand it, you can't crop a vector object/pattern/group/... in vector format. There is clipping , but that's not the same. So apart from delving into your objects and starting to prune away the unwanted pieces (node editing, path operations , etc), I don't think what you want can be ...

Re: Resize tool squashes stroke

There's the button "when scaling objects, scale the strokes" http://i.stack.imgur.com/St8so.jpg (not my image BTW, googled it) but whether it's on or off, I don't get the same effect as you. In my case, all stroke widths are scaled equally - or not scaled at all. In your case, when scaling...

Using Ctrl should work. What happens when you use Ctrl (meaning Ctrl-click, keep Ctrl pressed and move object)? Isn't the movement restricted hor/ver?

Re: Fill between paths

I think the "cleanest" solution would be to succeed in having a shape, or various shapes, who's fill regions match what you want. This would involve some node tweaking, maybe duplicating paths, breaking them apart, recombining them in other ways etc. And or using boolean operations on path...

Re: Export to 256x256 png images

Or use the Batch export option, in Export PNG Image dialog. Oh, that's a very interesting option I never really looked into! Great! Just tested it. This works: - make a new layer (eg. named "grid") on top of the drawing - put a rectangle on it, dimensions 256 x 256 - Edit > Clone > Create...

Re: Vertical stroke diameter instead of right angle diameter

You can do something based on the following idea. Let's say you want your "vertical stroke width" to be 10px. - draw a curved line with bézier tool :tool_pen: - duplicate it (Ctrl+D) - move the duplicate up 10px (you can use eg. Object > Transform, or set the arrow step to 10px in Edit > P...

Probably no cookie for me, since I just tried what you describe (starshape etc) and snapping works. If you enable all snapping options, does it work then?

Re: How do I create a Table?

There's also the Live Path Effect (LPE) "Construct Grid".
You can draw a rectangle, add the LPE "construct grid", and then resize the grid and change stroke size (stroke color and fill color seem to have no effect?).

quick and easy guide improvement (copying guides)

Idea for creating (relatively easy) sets of guides based on existing guides: - in the guide properties dialog (the one that opens when you doubleclick on a guide), replace the "OK" button by two new buttons "Move" and "Copy". (See mockup below) mockup_guide_properties_i...

Re: manufacturing block letters to scale

I think the image didn't get attached? Anyway, I think a few general ideas would be: - use a grid (File > Document Properties, tab Grids). See bottom part of this manual page . - use guides . Remember you can double-click a guide and set its position and angle accurately. There's also the extension ...

Re: How to fill inside a voronoi pattren

Actually, your object is a rectangle with no stroke, and the fill is a pattern (circle with voronoi). So the circle with voronoi you see, is not an object as such, but a pattern. I have the impression that, in your specific drawing, the quickest way to fill the circle would be to draw a filled circl...

Re: How to create a voronoi info graphic in inkscape

The really professional way to go would be to use d3.js :) It allows to use data to shape SVG, in short (amongst others).
Sadly, I'm far from a real professional, so I'm of no further use than to just point it out :)

Re: Segment deletion a la CorelDRAW?

More or less offtopic... I understand that you want to know how to copy a known workflow from another program, but if I may, I would advise to try to "forget" other programs and get into how Inkscape works most efficiently in a "native" way. I just tried, for the experiment, to m...

Copy-pasting from Gimp also works for me (as said above: Win 7, Inkscape 0.91). So it doesn't seem to be a general Inkscape issue...
Haven't got a clue however what it could be then, sorry...

Re: 0.91 can't paste picture from clipboard. But 0.48 can?!

What OS are you on? In Win 7 I can paste directly a screenshot (from Snipping Tool), or an image copied from within a Word document, to Inkscape 0.91 with Ctrl-V. However, if I select a PNG in the Windows File Manager, rightclick "copy" and try to Ctrl-V it in Inkscape, it says "nothi...

The left ellipse (the reddish one) has a linear gradient.

You probably want a flat fill there. (See eg. this page in the tavmjong manual for explanations).

I'd go about this as follows: - use two crossing guidelines (one horizontal, one vertical) to define the centre, and activate "snap nodes, paths and handles" - select :tool_ellipse: and draw the outer circle. To do so, position mouse over snap point at guides intersection, press and hold s...

I tried to understand the question but I don't get it :) Can you post an image/screenshot/... explaining what you want, or where the problem is? (And/or the SVG)? One thing that might help is the Restack extension (under Extensions > Arrange). Select all your circles and play with the restack parame...
