Re: path difference problem

Welcome to the forum !

So what is it that you are trying to do ?

I can ungroup the mountain without a problem.
The group consists of seven identical objects, all on top of each other, two black and five green.

Both fileformats are allowed. Attaching the problematic file is always helpful for the best support.

Re: wrong angle of isometric grid

Why not tile and convert object to guide ? Just create your object and tile n-rows with a Shift Y of 100%. Unlink clones, select all and convert to guides. EDIT: Btw, this tutorial, gives a different formula: http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-advanced-isometric-illustrations-using-t...

Re: A question about text on path

Paths have start/end or a direction which implies two sides. If it was a river, the text is written on the left shore. http://www.sciencecourseware.org/VirtualRiver/Files/page04a.html . By flipping/reversing directions the left/right sides change. Text is not assigned to the inside/outside of a sha...

Does that mean we cant use this filter to make the gradients shift through Brynn's requested rainbow spectrum ?

Re: A question about text on path

Esper, when you flip the path, you change its direction. Clockwise to counter-clockwise or the other way around. As the text position depends on the path direction, it will be on the other side of the path afterwards. Try it out with the directional path markers switched on in the node tool (node t...

Colormatrix has a preset for hue rotate.

Got the hue rotate filter to work, but it seems i can get only certain colors. No yellow for example.
Why cant i rotate every color through the full spectrum ?

Re: Brynn's Wheel

For colour shifting you can use filters if you like. Colormatrix has a preset for hue rotate. That works with gradients ? My idea was more something along: unlink the cloned pattern, and then somehow unlink the gradient from its parent and change it in the gradient editor ? Is there no way to do th...

Re: A question about text on path

Looks straightforward for me. svg example I dont get it. So 'pattern along a path' and 'text on a path' are the same thing, except that 'text on a path' preserves its text properties for editing purposes, right ? Your example still dont helps me understand why the text gets to the inside of the pat...

Re: Brynn's Wheel

Well maybe, but you can create the pattern that started this topic by rotating circles, instead of using the spirograph extension....
I mean that is what a spirograph essentially is: a number of rotating gear wheels

Re: Brynn's Wheel

I tiled a circle (10 times). Then played around with the position (with clone behaviour: move according to transform) until the effect was to my liking. Then unlink the clones, 'Combine' and 'Division' with a square. Deleted everything except for the "pattern". As you can see in my final r...

Re: Brynn's Wheel

But even with individual shapes, the gradients would have to be done one at a time, because each gradient would be different (because each diamond color is different). At least to do it the way I wanted. Thats true. What i did, is break it apart, isolated a pattern and rotated this pattern with til...

Re: A question about text on path

Hmm by second glance the bottom node is double, maybe that is the start-end node? By flipping vertically the length of the path for the text positioning is calculated as if not just the direction change. Yeah, its a habit of mine: i split the node and change the alignment of the text to centered. I...

Brynn's Wheel

I was trying to figure out how to make each little diamond shape have a gradient in it, so it sort of looked like the colors were spinning around the wheel. This was the first tutorial i ever wrote, and its kind of related: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5445 About how to give each di...

Also, I'm not sure what a good page size is for this. I'm hoping these would be about right for printing, but not really sure.

Im always for doing it punk-rock. So do it with a xerox machine in mind. Either Din-A4 or Din-A3.

A question about text on path

I know how this works since my Gimp days, but there is one aspect i dont quite understand: when i put the text on a circle and then flip the path, the text position is changed to the inside of the circle. Its like the path has been turned inside out. I know that paths have a direction, but this beha...

Other thing about Nick. Drives me crazy that he's always calling the Selection tool "The Arrow" or "The Arrow Tool". Really not conducive for new users to understand what they're doing. He does ? lol Never noticed that. I think he does it, because he comes from Illustrator. 7000...
