Re: DXF output

A full uninstall and reinstall of the Inkscape program is necessary on Windows when you update Inkscape, as tylerdurden said.
If you do a full uninstall, it doesn't matter which version you were using before.

Re: (solved)Inkscape accessing more cores for Ungrouping.

The Deep Ungroup is new in 0.92 :) It didn't exist in 2015. Rectangle-selecting indeed only works when things are ungrouped, or when you've at least entered the group. <offtopic>Usually, the best way for asking questions is stating which end result one wants to achieve, or what the purpose is, and w...

Re: svg to/from embroidery converter

Yes, the 'add new tools' part (there's been some development on C++ plugins, though, that are meant to fill that gap) and on-canvas interaction is not possible - but it sounds good, what you've done so far! :D

Re: svg to/from embroidery converter

The extension doesn't get to interact with the user directly, present dialogs, add new tools to the interface, etc. That's possible, though. If you only target Linux users, you can use Zenity to ask the user questions. There is an extension that makes use of this. Might even work with Tkinter or si...

Re: (solved)Inkscape accessing more cores for Ungrouping.

Even easier, without double-clicking through the group hierarchy, is Ctrl+Click. This selects the object under the mouse-pointer directly, regardless of its grouping status.

Re: How to change white mouse cursor to something visible?

Uhm... Why don't you install Inkscape on the Linux machine directly? That might be faster, and is usually more stable...

Can you access the Windows computer directly, to see if the issue is already there without the remote desktop tool?

Yes, try this one: https://ci.appveyor.com/api/buildjobs/fc9c8xwycoqg16j4/artifacts/build%2Finkscape-0.92%2Bdevel_2017-11-07_7aacbbe-x86.7z (but you should know that this is the unstable development version. It has severe performance issues on Windows, as far as I know. Use it to test if it fixes th...

Re: Inkscape accessing more cores.

There's a trick, though: While the ungroup via Inkscape is dead slow since 0.92, you can ungroup in seconds with the 'Deep Ungroup' extension. You can define the levels from which / to which you want to ungroup. Extensions > Arrange > Deep Ungroup. Took my computer about 2sec to ungroup all the 8800...

Re: Inkscape accessing more cores.

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, this is currently a limitation of the software, Old Grey. For filter rendering, Inkscape can use multiple cores (there's a setting in the preferences for this), but as far as I know this doesn't extend to tasks such as ungrouping.

...mmh, I faintly remember there was an issue with keyboard shortcuts not working with non-Latin keyboard layouts (in this case, Hebrew) being fixed recently. Ah, here's the discussion:

Re: Inkscape Right to Left Text

@brynn: forget about the extensions, that hint has nothing to do with the issue at hand. I see, so that option is not available on Windows? Didn't know... Oh, lol: I've got it in my self-compiled Inkscape 0.92.x version, but not in the 0.92.2 version... You could try the latest 0.92.x (stable branch...

Re: Is it possible to set the resolution in a template?

The only one i finf in the XML is "inkscape:document-units" but that seems to be an Inkscape specific setting... Correct. This only changes the units that are used for displaying values in the Inkscape interface, e.g. the width/height entry fields in the rectangle tool's tool control bar....

(if you updated from Inkscape < 0.92, and are on Windows, better uninstall and reinstall, because a simple update will break many python extensions)

Re: Inkscape Right to Left Text

If you're using Inkscape 0.92.2, take a look at the (maybe hidden, click on tiny arrow) options to the outermost right (at least in the English interface) of the text tool's tool bar. There's an option for writing direction. As I don't know how it's supposed to look, I can't tell you if it works or ...

NO would be the answer, if the programs would read the SVG files correctly. But many don't, so they can be cheated.

Re: Stroke not working on Group object

Some tips: - When you clone, always clone from the original, not from a clone. In your drawing, you ended up with Clone of Clone of Clone of Clone of Clone... That's going to make things weird and slow. - in Inkscape, you won't see when many identical objects lie right on one another. Try to not do ...
