Re: breaking lower halve of a sinewave

You did everything correctly :)

The node in the middle is already split into two, you only need to pull on it to drag the node that belongs to the lower half away.
Then delete all nodes you do not need :)

Re: Changing line width for only one part

You might want to know more about the new PowerStroke path effect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IztyV-Dy4CE http://inkscapetutorials.org/2014/04/28/using-powerstroke-in-inkscape-0-91-for-drawing-letters/ (this will not allow you to set the line width for the ends by entering a number anywhere. Re: Resize tool squashes stroke

I've seen that bug mentioned somewhere... And I've also experienced it myself. It's a known one, at least.
(usually, it doesn't happen for me - or rather, it jumps back after resizing - , so there must be a way to not have it... ;) )

suv might have more info for us.

Re: Problem printing with pattern fill

If you select everything (doing rubberband selection), and look at the bottom, you see 'xx paths and rectangles' in the status line. You only want the paths for union, not the rectangles (else everything will be unioned into one rectangle, as in your picture above ;) ) Select the paths only by follo...

Re: Problem printing with pattern fill

Works if you convert stroke to path and union the lines (don't include the rectangles ;) - else the union will only give you a blank rectangle) before you convert to pattern. Not sure why, though - I know there's a bug related to small stroke width, but it seems to need the union - only converting t...

Re: Question about triangulation

(I think Estebanus already knows about Voronoi, but is looking for a way to auto-create the dots that it needs to work)

The 'tiled clones' can trace a drawing (last tab), and make the presence of clones (dots) dependent upon the color below, but it's too regular for this purpose, AFAIU.

No, I don't think so, the Voronoi extension is all we have currently. You can, of course, extend and modify that extension :)

Re: PATHS OPERATIONS DIFFERENCE

Fernando, in your video, you could have avoided the color loss (3:05) by reversing the stacking order, I think - put the square on top instead of to the bottom. (I like to listen to Spanish from time to time - sounds like it's even 'real' Spanish Spanish :) ) And did you know about Jabier's extensio...

Maybe you'd like to try Path -> Cut Path (and then after that, remove the parts of the straight lines that you don't need)

Re: Increasing line width while extending its length

You can modify this behaviour using these buttons:
http://i.stack.imgur.com/St8so.jpg (not my image)

Find them in the toolbar (above the canvas) of the selector tool (F1 or S or just the topmost tool with the mouse cursor icon at the left).

Yes and no ;) - but you've got tons of options...: What you have found (the option to 'turn off filters') - could that be the option to either display them or not? (View -> Display Mode -> No Filters) This is just an option that allows faster rendering when working on a file that makes ample use of ...

Re: SVG file not displaying all elements

Okay, so the lines are still there (drag over them with the mouse, using a rubberband selection - i.e. Shift+Click somewhere near them and drag a selection box around them). In the status line, you will then see that there are indeed two objects, one of which is filtered, so you can't see it. You ca...

Hi, please also upload the svg file itself and also one of the other formats, ps or pdf, so we can take a look at it. I've just yesterday found out about this service by a French open source community - the files won't stay there forever, but it will suffice for this: https://framadrop.org/ Regards,...

Hi beneficii, - install imagemagick, a tool for command-line image conversion, that also has a batch conversion mode (http://www.imagemagick.org) - export your your drawing to pngs in different sizes as normal, - then do this on your command line (if it doesn't work as expected, take a look at their...

Re: Even though both stops on this path gradient are set to full on black (R=0, G=0, B=0, A=255), still has fading effec

Quick idea: did you check that the gradient is applied to the stroke / or the fill (whichever shows here)? Second idea: Zoom in. Is the thinner end really brighter or is it just thinner and thus *looks* brighter? Third idea: Why are you using a gradient at all? You could just use a flat color instea...

Re: How can I avoid auto-adjusting of the text dimensions in Inkscape?

I think the problem here is that it *does* take into account the letter-specific kerning, even for the first letter. The anchor point of the text is not moved when you edit, but the distance from anchor to the first black part of the letter is different for each letter. If you try this with a mono f...

Re: How can I avoid auto-adjusting of the text dimensions in Inkscape?

If I understand you correctly, the most important thing you are looking for is text alignment. You can do this by using the 'Align + Distribute' dialog (Ctrl+Shift+A). It has options specifically for aligning text baselines (rightmost buttons row). (but I think it is buggy .... ah, here it is: https...
