Re: Join connected line segments that form open structure

I don't know of any such thing, no. Maybe it would be possible to write an extension, but you'd need to do the math yourself in it, as far as I understand.

Re: Inkscape file opening blank

In 0.91, there was an issue that when you closed Inkscape during saving, it didn't save the whole file (and a couple others like that). So: 1. Switch to 0.92.2 (current version) to not have that issue. 2. Activate Autosave in the Preferences. 3. Save often If you want us to take a look at the file, ...

Re: Changing the Default Export Location

(I thought it was even possible to save the export-filename per exported object - but that does not happen automatically. However, if one is set, it is respected on export. It's not modified by Inkscape if you change it in the export dialog - while the document wide export name gets modified wheneve...

Re: Inkscape modifying path while doing path > division

No, I was focused on helping you to find a workaround. I know there are bugs that are related to the precision of Boolean operations. Probably something in your settings is different from Lazur's - if you really want to know, you could exchange settings files and test again. Anyway, division is not ...

You can copy just the hatch extension from the repo I linked... It's going to do exactly what you need.

Re: Problems with saving as pdf

Removing the preferences wouldn't help, but they are saved per user, so they should be accessible to you. What will help is removing clips and masks, or ungrouping as often as possible, which also removes clips and masks, in most cases. In your pdf, however, there is a color-inverted raster image, n...

Or use the eggbot extensions, they also have hatch options (or the gcodetools extensions which also do - each a different type).

Re: Inskape modifying path while doing path > division

Try if it works better if you either:
- make the letters larger before you do division
- set Inkscape's precision higher in Edit > Preferences > Input/Output > SVG output

Lol - for the finished version, be sure to follow the news at inkscape.org ;-) I probably won't remember.

As for the unfinished version, here's a link (it's only going to be valid for a short time):

Re: are the raster extensions currently broken in IS 0.92 ?

Yes, from what I understand, they are broken for everyone on Windows. The only ways for you are to:

a) switch to Linux or macOS
b) wait for 0.92.3
c) use a fixed version

There are also some free books about Inkscape:

Re: are the raster extensions currently broken in IS 0.92 ?

Okay, sorry for not having looked it up earlier. You can either: - live with the issue or - use a development version of the stable branch [1] (https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1720330) [1] For Windows (for each commit, actually) you visit: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/inkscape/inkscape/h...

Re: are the raster extensions currently broken in IS 0.92 ?

The interesting part happens on the command line, so please try this: If Inkscape is installed in C:\Program Files\Inkscape, type (else replace the directory name by the correct one): cd C:\Program Files\Inkscape Hit enter. Type: inkscape.com Hit Enter. Import a raster image. Open a raster extension...

Re: Beginner with Intersection problem

Yeah, the reason for the odd behaviour with more than two objects is that at the last hackfest, someone had a go at making it work with multiple objects. Unfortunately, they just did a part of the work, and left the rest for others to fix. Probably, the person who did it has already forgotten about ...

Re: are the raster extensions currently broken in IS 0.92 ?

Can you please specify:

- your operating system
- your specific Inkscape version (copy from Help > About)
- what error message you get when you run Inkscape from the command line, like this:
https://inkscape.org/en/learn/faq/?edit ... -not-start (step 3)

Re: Any tips/tricks to achieve gas giant effect

If you need this to be true vector shapes, then the extensions 'add nodes', 'fractalize', 'jitter nodes' and 'whirl' from the 'modify path' extensions submenu could be helpful.

I think Lazur will soon come up with a good filter for the other case :)

TD: Where did you get the 156 / 30 from? I see even 222 / 82 issues with 'fix committed' / 'in progress' currently :) (for the next two versions, to be fair) - and 593 commits lie between 0.92.2 and the current development focus 0.93. https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bugs?field.searchtext=&o...

Re: Line height spacing problem in 0.92.2

Yeah, the UI has been changed again for 0.93, and now features four main settings, one of which is 'adjustable', which corresponds to the current state, and the others are reasonable presets - but it doesn't work properly (e.g. changing the font-size changes line-height instead, but font is still sa...
