Re: Perspective problem

I didn't want to start a new topic... I'd like to share few observations I made during the making of... my very own cockpit layout figure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6Qv6Gusorw&hd=1 http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b68/Bucic/DCSforum/Instr/ka50_cockpitlayout_bucic_wip2.png As you can see w...

Re: Geometry Constructions

WOW! I'm an engineer and I will be definitely using it extensively. The only bad thing is that I need this kind of functionality now... for my book/paper. Can you give a heads up in this topic when a build with those features will be available?

Re: What do I use Inkscape for

Those are some awesome aircraft drawings! I'm sorry, I should have make a note that the aircraft 3 way views are bitmaps taken from http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/airpower.html  The silhouettes are vector though, made from the bitmaps and the whole composition was child easy in Inkscape. What I use Inkscape for

I don't do any fancy artistic stuff. I rather use Inkscape as an utility software taking advantage of it's ease of use, svg scalability and ease of modifications. Practically all of the things I do in Inkscape are RAPID works. The things are being created so fast and easily as if Inkscape would be m...

Re: Minimum but safe A4 margins

The reason I said "most desktop printers out there" is that I can't test everybody's printers ;) I prepared an illustration I described as printable and I wouldn't want it to be cut out by margins on some contemporary desktop printers.

SVG with custom font - make portable

I always thought SVG is 100% portable just like PDF but recently I got my font replaced in one of my SVGs when I opened it on another machine. The font was Quartz . My questions are: - how to make a such SVG portable i.e. so people would not have to install Quartz font manually to view my SVG image ...

Re: why is diverse...png and vector?

It looks like, from your linked topic, that you have it figured out now :) Yes, but only thanks to you You have to use a grid with spacing of 0.5px. I normally create two grids, one presented with lines spaced 1px apart, and one presented with dots which is also 1px apart but is offset by 0.5px. If...

Re: bitmap - make them sharp and clear

Thank you Slow Dog! I think I'm finally getting somewhere. I will be definitely looking into this extension http://code.google.com/p/pixelsnap/ Also I still have problem with changing text base point. Ususally it's just outside the text boundary, in a random position, making it impossible to snap e....

I think I'm getting my head around it...
But I'm still open for additional tips. Especially regarding preserving crispness of bitmaps imported to Inkscape.

bitmap - make them sharp and clear

As I do a lot of work involving bitmaps in Inkscape I need help on understanding the means of getting exported bitmap crisp and clear, including the imported bitmaps. Re: Map - bitmap roads to paths

Unfortunately I also think that it would be best to do by hand. But, just maybe... For example - how to turn a shape similar to stroke of the :tool_calligraphic: to single line :tool_pen: . If such operation is possible then there are some possibilities of automation.

Map - bitmap roads to paths

Let's say we have the following image

Is it possible to, for example, automatically draw single-line curves along all the roads (in red) from the map? If not then is it possible in some other application?

Re: Change theme on Windows

Because some of the themes I've seen are clearly GTK (Gnome?) themes. Besides take a look at

Code: Select all

\Inkscape\share\themes\Default\
\Inkscape\share\themes\Emacs\
\Inkscape\share\themes\MS-Windows\
\Inkscape\share\themes\Raleigh\

This is almost identical structure to GIMP themes folder.

Re: Change theme on Windows

See http://gimper.net/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=626 You don't need this application to change GIMP themes but it's for convenience. One can download GTK themes http://art.gnome.org/themes/gtk2/?page=1 and apply theme on GIMP. Inkscape definitely has themes support http://www.inkscape.org/screenshots/...
