Re: Uninstalled Font still usable in Inkscape

tylerdurden. Thanks much. Well, the good news is that I can finally see the DOZENS of extra fonts. (doing the happy dance on that one!). I don't use Explorer, so used the command method. But, even tough am logged in as Admin, it won't let me delete - how do you get around that? I even signed in as t...

Re: Uninstalled Font still usable in Inkscape

Moini, yes I have. That was a good idea though. Searched .ttf, Plain*.ttf and Plain*.*. nothing of use. Pretty sure this isn't a Windows issue - the fonts aren't being wiped out by inkscape - only. They are gone from Word. I think Pherim found the hidden file by using some other file mgr - not windo...

Re: Uninstalled Font still usable in Inkscape

Brynn, I kept installing my font because I needed to test it after making changes, kerning, line gap, etc, so each font, while having the same name, looks a little different. Also re-install other fonts because they've updated the font. ok, I'm not an expert, but here's what I 'think'. Font naming i...

Re: filters in progress

Lazur, my laptop is so old and these pics are so big, that I can't load them. (is there anyway that you might consider uploading smaller pics?). I got the tops draw of a couple, the leaves, from what I saw were great.

Re: Uninstalled Font still usable in Inkscape

I have that problem too Shoansa. It's so frustrating because I've designed a font, so have installed it dozens of times! yikes. I can't figure out out to delete them either- not sure what Pherim means by 'using a different file manager'- the only one I know about it what comes in windows (win 7). I'...

Re: seeking 3d drawing program - off topic - but don't know where else to ask

Are you using a mold to put the glass into to get the form (can't think of what it's called right now, slumping maybe)? I just can't visualize how a pgm could estimate the size of your piece or how much glass to use. If calculating amounts is your primary target, I would think some basic math calcul...

Re: Changing colour within a Outline

Glad it worked. Just as fyi - with some fonts you have to convert it to a path first in order for path>difference method to work. (just be sure to duplicate your text before converting it on a separate layer). If you run into the problem of clipping not working, also try converting to a path first.

Re: Lines of Zero Width

Not as far as I'm aware, it wouldn't be a stroke unless it has some width. 0.100 is the smallest that I get (I could be wrong). Would this work - select edit> select all in all layers, then group everything. Then all you have to do is go to the fill n stroke box and select the lowest stroke (0.100) ...

Moini. Totally agree with what you said. thx for the link to that extension, will give that a try. I seem to lose extensions with uploads, so will wait until I upgrade to 92.2.

Interesting info Lazur. I assumed EPS would be the common denominator. (but this is all way too technical for me anyway, just thought it was interesting).

Re: convert svg to jpg

Moini - Maybe there are more technical terms, and I'm unable to explain it well, sorry about that (your explanation is so much better and clear). There's size and there's 'size', so to speak (in my head anyway). If you hit the Export button, and then look under the Image Size, the size (width and he...

Re: convert svg to jpg

I agree with Moini that the png retains the better quality (which is why it is a larger file size). Re exporting size: the larger dpi when exporting gives you a larger file, but not a higher resolution. There have been many debates over that issue. The 300 dpi is what is needed when printing, but wh...

Email Notifications not Working?

Over the last few days I've received a few PM's but did not receive the usual email to tell me that I got them. I checked, and I DO have both the email and notification radial buttons checked. Is there a glitch right now or is this just me? My email is working fine BTW.

Re: increase/decrease object by a given border size ?

Just a comment - he originally used Lazur's formula- when Inkscape was using 90 as a scale and now it's 96, could that be throwing it off somehow? Can't determine is he's using the old file or new one. Maybe he needs to recalculate using 96? (I really don't know). Also, instead of using outset, I wo...

Re: Need some hired help

Just seeing this post now, so it's probably too late to be useful. But, Pinnerd, have you tried to use GIMP to open the EPS file? It's also open source. Also, if you made the file smaller physically, reduce it to say 20% of it's size, wouldn't that make the file small enough to load (maybe not even ...

Re: Using fonts without installing them

The only way I can think of would be to temporarily load the font, type out the glyphs/characters, (I'd use some guidelines to do that). Then type out the entire alphabet and save the file(s) in a directory that you create. I would use Inkscape. Then of course uninstall the font. (just to note, in W...

Glad it worked for you Dragon. I should have specified Outset AND inset, but glad you had enough info to make it work. There are usually several ways to 'get er done' in Inkscape!

Re: Fill Replacing Border after Turning Border Transparent?

How about - similar to what Moini said, but a bit diff approach, is to duplicate the object, (have no stroke), put it one level below and click on Path>Outset until you reach the desired size (or use dynamic offset, but that tends to lose shape as it gets larger), you can set it at any color, so it ...

I also have 'docked' checked and it docked the first time after opening Inkscape but never again. Do you find that an issue as well? just curious. Wouldn't be so bad, but if it's not docked I can't get to the options at the bottom of the document properties screen.

While not my forte, and not sure of the output you are trying to get - I've seen a tut many yrs ago about using Inkscape's interpolation to get many frames made - then using even something like GIMP - to make a short gif. It was pretty cool. But I thought using interpolation worked well - in this ca...
