Re: Warping a picture

Cool warping Polygon. I can see that middle one being used to go around the earth, with others.... As usual, there are several ways to 'get 'er done', so to say. It just depends on what you want as your output. I use a pattern fill method, then each node can be skewed, and it acts as a way to crop. ...

Re: Units and Document Properties

I'm on Win 7 and had that issue when I loaded v.92 too. (I'm still having docking issues too, so there's got to be some bugs to iron out). Anyway, maybe you can try a work around by going to Preferences, > Interface > Windows, then click on Change and Restore dialogs status. ( I also chose under Des...

Re: What Inkscape version allows me to make a silhouette image?

LOL Maestral and Lazur. hey, we tried. Brynn. Great idea to import the SS file, that would be so easy. I wonder if anyone has developed a file convert for that extension yet, there's so many conversion pgms out there. He may not be able to do it since it's proprietary, and if one gets caught, one pa...

Re: What Inkscape version allows me to make a silhouette image?

ps if you would attach the phoenix as we have asked, we could probably help you better. Remember, Inkscape is not an app, and it takes a lot of patience to learn it. I don't think you'll get what you want in that timeframe here. But, if you're selling the vinyl cutout, it may be well worth investing...

Re: What Inkscape version allows me to make a silhouette image?

Has anyone used trace pixel art with the trace bitmap? I saw a tut somewhere where you run trace pixel art first, then the trace bitmap, and it's supposed to make the output much better. Wish I could remember where I saw the tut, most likely on youtube. I haven't seen much on trace pixel art. I just...

Re: What Inkscape version allows me to make a silhouette image?

justinbigby - The above trace results are why I use my method. Just never quite happy with the results. Though you can get better results if you use 1 color and at least 16 scans. Can you give that a try? That might be enough to be able to laser cut it. I 'think' 1 color will make it only black and ...

Re: What Inkscape version allows me to make a silhouette image?

I may have missed something here, but I've created a couple of silhouettes in the last couple of weeks. There's usually more than one way to do this. Trace bitmap is one method, but I wanted to add some artistry to it (highlights and be able to change the hair, etc). I don't know of any quick, autom...

Re: Converting Coordinates in plane SVG File to Coordinates in Inkscape

EddieRich, The Width and height are defined by the page units times page scale (defined in the document properties dialog). For instance, my page is 6 inches by 6 inches and my scale is 1000 "user units" So, my viewbox is 0, 0, 6000, 6000. In your example, how do you know that your scale i...

thx Lazur. I have never seen a readme file re: filters. And in reading it, I'm still confused, have no idea what any of that 'really' means, lol. Haven't heard of filters.svg.h I am going over to the new topic.

Re: filters in progress

Please feel free to make a feature request, great idea. (I don't feel tech savy enough to attempt that just yet), I can bring them my issue, but no ideas for a fix. I would prefer if I could at least choose which user to attach to it. Wonder if it could be accomplished via an option in the Preferenc...

Re: filters in progress

Brynn, Well, I loaded the pgm, thought it was under my admin name, but hubby is the computer owner (used to be his laptop). I wonder if .92 can only be placed under the computer owner like you said. I think you may have called it. I installed it in the c:Pgm Files folder, so did nothing odd that I k...

Re: filters in progress

Edit to update: I may have found my own answer, basically have made/saved a copy of my filter just about everywhere, until it finally worked! I opened my preferences menu and discovered that my files are in my hubby's user name, not mine! However, Inkscape preferences (input/output under system) won...

Lazur - looks good, and I didn't notice any spelling errors either. Looking forward to the manual. thx Brynn - thx for that link, will def give it a look. Re: filters in progress

May I just add that many are probably like me, lurk but don't post. How to load them and use them are difficult enough, but development is out of the question (Brynn and I took a stab a couple yrs ago, got nowhere fast, lol). So most of us really can't add any value to posting about it, that's why t...

Re: Merge radient, can't add nodes

I have the same issues Brynn, clicking it (actually double clicking) doesn't usually work for me either, the gradient line is so slim that it's hard to hit it on target maybe, not sure what the issue really is. I also use the toolbar to insert new stops. But, you have to remember to have the object ...

Re: Arched text (as opposed to arc or put on a path)

I found that the env deformation is actually now included in the Path Effects Menu in .92! yay. I had been searching in the Extensions menu, so it never dawned on me to look in path effects, found it by accident. Brynn, thx for telling me about the AppData/Roaming. I also learned from your note to p...

Re: How to cut photo along the borders of a vectorial obkject

I realize this thread is a bit old, but in case he comes back, I wanted to give another method, possibly easier for a newbie (or me, lol). Just add the photo as a pattern, then it can be manipulated into any shape you want, and you can always go back and adjust it, in case the boss doesn't like it! ...

Brynn, First, howdy!!! sorry it's been so long, will have to PM you... Have missed everyone, long story short, due to major medical issues. (ongoing too). hi Brynn - that worked like a charm! thanks so much! For a minute there, I thought there was a red radial button to grab, ...

Re: Date and Time Stamp not updating in .92 for 64

Sorry, I should have specified that it's for all of my SVG files, doesn't matter where they are located (has nothing to do with downloads). Inkscape is not updating the date and time, it retains the 'created' date and time. Doesn't seem to matter if it's by using 'Save as', 'Save' or Save a copy'. h...

Re: Can't re-size Doc Prop Box & Fill N Stroke Box Issue

One more update - The doc prop menu is not docking, even though I've changed it to 'dockable'. Is there a trick to that? or maybe I'm not finding it in the global pref. correctly? I only see one place to check for dockable menus, it worked for the Fill N Stroke box. Can now move the grab bars a tiny...

solved: Can't re-size Doc Prop Box & Fill N Stroke Box Issue

Solved. I hope it's ok to put two issues, that in my mind are similar, into one post, if not, please let me know and I can separate them in two posts. 1. Am not able to re-size the Document Property Box. This has always been an issue, but the box prev has fit onto one page, so it wasn't a problem, n...
