Re: Inkscape Fails to Launch on Mac OSX 10.10.4

I am running 10.10.4 and XQuartz 2.7.7 and have 0.91 installed and it runs just fine. Just in case it may help, I have the following preferences checked in X11. Clean Up Document ?

What does the new “Clean up Document” command do ?
Is it like the old one for when editing in xml editor ?

Using version 0.91, iMac Yosemite

I searched the forum here, and no success in the manual either.
Just a few vague refs. but no explanations.

Thanks…

Re: No Layer Dialog Box?

Well, here I am, perhaps 40 minutes later and with some further experimenting I have found a temporary, if not, final solution to my problem. Sorry, to take up anyone’s time unnecessarily, but thought I would at least share what I found out. Firstly, it is NOT a Inkscape problem at all. It’s related...

No Layer Dialog Box?

I can't get the Layers dialog box to open. I know there is one, as I recall seeing it many times before. It's CMD Shift-L and it's available up in the Layers menu (bottom choice). Some helpful back-gound, perhaps ? I was using Inscape 48.5 and realized the problem there 1st, with an old project of m...

Re: Trouble zooming with apple magic mouse on OSX

Yeah, same OSX configuration here, and scrolling is less than smooth also. Using the zoom tool is more controllable for me. I would think there should be a preference for zoom speed but there is not. There are a lot of discussions in the Apple forums regarding the Magic Mouse and it's shortcomings. ...

Re: Check if this happens to your InkScape!

Sorry, I was simply responding to the OP's request, thinking wether it was just in his Xubuntu or anywhere else. I have noticed there seems to be many programs (Apps.) that crash when undo(s) are involved. My guess is that, for a simple request like "undo", it's not so simple a task to pro...

Re: Where can I animate my drawings from Inkscape

Creating animation can be a tedious endeavor but, the rewards can be very, very satisfying. Inkscape is fun to create lovely 2D drawings with, there's no doubt about it. Bare in mind, it takes 24-30 drawings displayed in a row (they refer to it as 24 to 30 frames, per second) to have it appear to ha...

Re: Can't paste text into Inkscape (Mac)

Yes.... It's me again, thanks And yes, I' m still back here in Tiger in the ancient land of XFree86. I was just hoping that there may be some crafty way to link up the clipboards with, perhaps, some well-aimed symlinks or such. Those preference options don't even exist in my version of X11. (X11 1.0...

Re: Can't paste text into Inkscape (Mac)

"adjust the Pasteboard settings in X11 to link up to the native Mac clipboard." I use a Mac also, and there are others here, I am sure, that have run into this problem. Could you possibly mention any specifics about how this can be done with X11. Where are, or how does one adjust the paste...

Re: Inkscape on Mac Disk Image

I'll try to help.... You seem to be a little new with things so, just to clarify a bit....... The 'disk image' is just a protected 'read-only' kind of folder that enables you to get a copy of inkscape installed onto your computer from the internet. Inside that 'disk image' folder' (disk image) you w...

Re: Generating objects using cartesian equations ?

Yes, (but a qualified, yes) I tried a couple tests, for you. I was able to "export" a file created by GeoGebra, both as an SVG and an EPS. They each opened easily in Inkscape as a grouped object . From there, I was able to "ungroup" each one into it's individual objects. From the...

Re: Mac UI, COCOA Port

I don't think Inkscape needs that first window, so just close it. Originally, I found that opening Inkscape took almost a full 60 seconds to get started. I thought it was just the fact that I am still using Mac OS 10.4.11 (Tiger) and the fact that my CPU speed is only 1.4 Mhz so I just got used to i...

Re: Draw a realistic Cube, Cone or Sphere

Yes, Rob.... nice cone there. I think the end of the cone shadow should be just a little more pointy ? Just in a general sense, I don't mean to be picky. @druban, but when you said "(apologies for a hastily drawn illustration)" well.. that really threw me. Additional thanks to all here in ...
