Re: editing lines

look in your toolbar for the word "None" after "shape:". It sounds as if you have it set to something else, most likely "Ellipse"

Re: how to upload video?

you can't. Especially since there's never really a need for it. Do you want to show people amazing Inkscape techniques you have come up with? Put it on YouTube and post the link here. If it's legitimate people will see it. If it's not appropriate that will just be the end of that...

Re: Bezier Curve Tool Problem in .92.3

once again I suspect your mouse or pointing device s double clicking when you mean to single click. The other possibility is that your bez tool's default shape is ellipse when you upgraded to the latest version. Also check to see if it might be set to Spiro. Although since you have a lot of experien...

Re: Preference options keep popping up in 92.3

Are you using a new pointing device like a touchpad or a tablet or a new computer? This is characteristic of an accidental double click. Also possible that your mouse's left click button is worn out... is it a Logitech mouse?

Re: Hi Everyone I am New Here.

I ban lots of one post 'newbies'. The number of Kitchen and siding sellers who are also newbies to this forum and just want to say hello are surprising. The 'personal female assistant' was probably not a bot but ... gone anyway. Be strong. The problem is not that they are in the 'hello' folder but t...

Re: Cutting lines

The autotrace function does not create lines. it only creates filled shapes. It is sometimes possible to run your picture through a pixel editing program like GIMP to fill the interior and create a solid shape which then would trace as an outline in Inkscape.

Re: Hello Friends,

I have to agree with Lazur that was pretty sneaky and not above board. I didn't catch it when I approved the post! If it was honestly meant why hijack a symbol and hide it? Also it is common in forums for moderators to have a moderator avatar and member avatar although not apparent usually because t...

Re: Tapered lines and the warp tool

This method even without the joining problem seems less effective than using the pencil with either spiro mode enabled or raising the smooth setting slider to 50 or more. can you show a pic of what you are trying to do, there may be other ways to do it

Re: Thickness of a Guideline

I can think of absolutely no reason to have a thick guideline except if your monitor is so high resolution that you can't see the guideline. But if that is the case you won't be able to see many other parts of the interface either! And if you are trying to make a screenshot and the guides are droppi...

Re: How to center text on path ?

Hi Shezkah, center justifying the text will not necessarily work for closed paths like an oval, as you can see in the middle example it doesn't work for me either. solution 1 given above is to select the text after it's been put on path, with the Text tool engaged do ctrl -A to select all the text, ...

Re: Sometimes inkscape don't do what we demand to do

And of course in addition to the hard stop gradient - which is really not an intermediate skill - there is pattern fill: rather easier. path1558.png I didn't get the impression that OP was looking for solutions, but rather a specific answer about Inkscape vs. some other program, probably Illustrator...

Re: Successful PNG export file at width 2000, but not at width 3600

I saw there was a large transform attribute in the xml. To eliminate this I unclipped the group. This revealed that the pattern filled rectangle was in a group by itself, unnecessarily. I ungrouped it. at this point the problem is probably fixed and the rectangle could be clipped again (but I sized ...

Re: Sometimes inkscape don't do what we demand to do

Boolean operations such as the ones you are talking about only operate on paths, not groups. All Boolean operations work on multiple paths. However the only predictable or logical ones to use on multiple paths are Union and Intersection. All others are performed in a top down fashion which does not ...

Re: Successful PNG export file at width 2000, but not at width 3600

Are you using a machine with a graphics card? You could try disabling it and rendering with CPU only if that is the case Try exporting at a larger size (5400, 7200) if possible and scale down in another program... You could if the file is not too large give it to someone here to render and see if it'...

Have you tried tiled clones to see if that might be more useful for your design?
