Re: How can I reduce the colors of a drawing?

Have some experience with a "hatched" "dither". I suppose the approach shown here could be adapted.

Re: Simplify City Road Map Help

I'd also suggest the first method -been doing that with openstreetmap svg-s a few times. However there may be an even better solution -just to download the corresponding layer from the source. Personally I couldn't do that before as it's a bit too advanced to me but if you are familiar with command ...

Re: Failed to load the requested file

Welcome aboard! The file size is promising however had seen people posting damaged svg-s here filled up with only nul characters -not even sure how they achieved that. By a sudden error when saving -running out of resources usually- the bottom part of the code is chopped off. Your document should ha...

filtering guide part 12-13

https://media.inkscape.org/media/resources/render/T_012_filter_editor.png Going back to the Flood effect's settings there are two options to alter the output. A slider can set the opacity of the colour between fully transparent and opaque, representing it with a value between 0 and 1. Clicking on t...

Re: How to hide the path behind the path without overlaping the colors

Welcome aboard!

Sounds as if you are using a semi-transparent gradient on the cup.
Try putting a red rectangle to the bottom to see if that's the case. If so, raise the alpha values of the gradient steps to 255, and make sure the object is at 100% opacity.

Re: Create a Logo Using Circular Grids

Continuing the nit-picking, if you union the paths as how they are now, there will be slight "bumps", incosistency in the width of the outer "stroke" of the grid.
If the two circles were the same of the inner and outer edges, it'd be cleaner looking (if possible).

Re: Create a Logo Using Circular Grids

Speaking of optical illusions may worth mentioning the rendering issue present in the final image.
Double edges better be eliminated or the background shows through in that 0 wide gap due to anti-aliasing.

There are "several ways to skin the cat".

Hi.

Seems working here.
Copy&pasted the svg to notepad++, saved as svg and re-saved it with inkscape 0.92.
Result is attached:

Re: Haaaaaaalp! Saved SVG file opens EMPTY!

Hi. Good thing it opens. Corrupted files usually mean part of the svg is chopped off where you may recover some parts before. Hard to guess without the file. If the damage wasn"t a large data loss the file size should be nearly the same as before. Saving often over the same file =/= backup save...

Re: Changing transparent objects to colored

What happens if there are gradients? In fact it is pretty easy to answer - one or more new gradients will be created, based on overlapping and transparency. Just wondering, two semi-transparent gradients overlaying would produce - many more gradients? What if both were radial gradients. Oh and what...

Re: Units

Raspi wrote:Are we talking about the Document Properties - Page ?

Yes, that was the one. Only issue I saw in 0.92 is the stroke width displayed in different units at the bottom.

If it was a full px based document I'd change the scale factor to 1 and set even px values for the document size.

Re: Units

Hi. There are two options to change the units (Shift+Ctrl+D) -document size units, and "display units". I suspect you need to set the latter instead. For the decimal marks there are spinbox options you have to go by, but there are other limits as well. In the preferences (Shift+Ctrl+P) svg...

Re: Can Inksape deal with more than 10,000 objects?

It is possible but for practical reasons you need to optimize your drawing. Like this was a mess because I didn't care much and just duplicated objects all over the place. However with duplicating the style definitions are repeated with each object. If your objects are only 2-noded paths with a stra...

Re: What Inkscape version allows me to make a silhouette image?

Ok, refined the hatching concept now it really takes three steps ⋅ import image, ⋅ create raster copy, ⋅ trace bitmap. Although it's a bit resource heavy for the tracing as it can likely end up with thousands of nodes. (On a side note the " brave ones " need t...

So, can anyone tell me, how to make a silhouette of the below Trooper image where the operation takes less than 10 seconds and 4 mouse clicks using Inkscape? Sandtrooper.jpg Depends on your setup. Here, have a hatched trooper: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rqsskmvoz08vx0r/trper.svg?dl=0

Welcome aboard!

Check the tool's settings
-set regular Bézier path, and shape:none.
Probably you have triangle:in instead which is supposed to work with open paths.

Re: Breaking a path

Hi. Your second image shows that the path has an open segment at one point, that's why you see that two "crossing" on top after splitting two nodes. So on your path, first select all nodes and connect unconnected nodes -or press Ctrl++ to close the path-, then select the two nodes you sele...

Welcome aboard! The danger is real as of 0.48 that was the main reason of crashing -timing out due to garbage collector hanging while dealing with hundreds or thousands of unused defs.
