Re: Need help with inkscape
I think it looks like you're on the right track, what you should try is, using the :tool_node: , you should make all the nodes "smooth" (upper left, hover over the icons of the tool, to get tool-help). Then, Strg+A to mark everything, and Strg+Shift+) to expand the blobs. Should look great.

... addendum: If the Folder is in a path that has spaces in it, the icons are not found (most). German Windows has the Desktop under .../Dokumente und Einstellungen/... (F%&kup if there ever was one). So better not start it from the Desktop.

Re: Need help with inkscape
try again with :tool_pencil: Fill : Black, Stroke : None; After painting, press Strg (Ctrl) + L , A LOT (10-20x). Use the :tool_node: -> the nodes can be taken to where you need them, + there are handles that rule where the curve is going. Try a little. The jpg is not good for automatic tracing. But...

Re: Need help with inkscape
I guess you want this special paw-print rendered in the minimalistic style of the Jack Wolfskin logo? Don't go for :tool_ellipse: . This will look too standardized. Try this: :tool_pencil: draw around the print, and return to the square that marks the beginning of the Path, this will close it. Work ...

Re: snap to spirograph path?
Slightly Off-Topic: 1000 nodes seems to be the maximum the Spiro-Tool does, which elicits some rather strange behaviour: Some Spirograms are non-repetitive, or only start to repeat themselves after lots and lots of "turns". -> They always are created with 1000 nodes. If the Quality is set ...

Re: How to make a cartoon double helix (DNA)
Try this: Make a rectangle (not rounded) that is about 10 times a wide as high, Path->Object to path; Adjust the nodes : There should be four, make the upper left a corner node, the lower left a smooth node, the upper right smooth, the lower right corner; Then fiddle with the nodes: The upper left g...

For the Jefferson:Airplane -Style (the poster is not a font, the individual characters were done by hand) i recommend making rectangles with rounded corners ( :tool_rectangle: - round corners by tugging at the circle in the corner of the new rectangle) then make some slender rectangles , put little ...

Re: sculpt nodes doesn't work on spirograph paths
I think what microUgly was trying to convey was, that rectangle tool, circle tool, etc. all give a product that is specific -> circle has a handle for making it a segment, rectangle has one for rounding the corners etc. If you take a circle and do Path-> Object to Path , the former CircleObject then...

Re: snap to spirograph path?
I looked into the green-and-purple spiro: Snapping of spiro to Color-Areas works, Color-Areas to Spiro does not, even after not-unsubstantial waiting... (yawn  ) So there seems to be an issue with whatever algorithm is looking for current cursor position vs. Paths&Nodes. On another note: W...

I finally was able to access the old one (http://www.petaimg.com/uploads/1219574221.svg - the new one has the old error  ) There are lots of spirograms (some very cool colored ones) - some only look like spirograms, but are lots of path debris, some are whole - i made a circle and can snap its ...

Re: Select Inside/Outside Path
I once wanted something like that, but forgot the occasion - Then i thought about the current problem of Bryn with the spirograms, namely a host of little objects, some of whom i want, and some of whom i don't want, and i realized that with a slightly more complex cutting shape than a circle, it wou...

I did that with the Apr1 build of 0.46 on XP. -> I did not use the same spirogram, though, because i still can't access the site it is hosted on. I created a spirogram that has a lot of self-overlappings, though, and the problems are the same as described by Brynn, if i simply try to do a "Diff...

Hm. With me it works as advertised.
First, select the spirogram. Fill -> Fill holes.
Then select the circle, press Shift, select the spirogram, and Use Union (Or Difference).

Should be sufficient to create a rectangle (must have fill and/or stroke visible). Then 'catch it' in a selection box and, for a test, use these values: start x = 0 end x = 1 multiply.. =check y value bottom = -1 y value top = 1 Samples = 20 (that is the number of nodes, higher = better) Isotrop.. =...

Re: Align and Distribute radially?
I tried to achieve this by making a circle and then working with Effects -> Generate from Path -> Pattern Along Path. Sadly, there is no option to have combined objects simply be distributed, they are always morphed, too (Text along Path has the possibility not to morph the single characters, so the...

Re: Points at line intersections, creation of
What i need are blobs, squiggels, circles, short: any kind of markers at the place where two paths intersected. One idea was to somehow "fatten the intersections", so i could later mask the whole thing with the original, and the "fat" of the intersections would show. The simplifi...

Points at line intersections, creation of
Hi. There was a similar question here, once (http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1143) - but now i ran into something that probably has an unrelated answer. I have lots of paths, all intersecting one another. I'd like to put dots at the intersections, e.g. either use the intersectio...

Re: Want to apply grid to an object, and do a hex grid
the P6 symmetry would work too, just make something square and invisible, and locate an upright stroke on it -> if the stroke is on the rightmost, the resulting figure will be a hexagon -> if the stroke is not as high as the (invisible) square, the hexagons will look "dashed" just like on ...
