Re: Northern light (Aurora Borealis) effekt.

There is definitely something wrong. you should end up with something very much like the lillehammer thing. Make the rectangle a slim rectangle, stnding upright, like an 'l'. Make the Bezier curve at least four times as high as the rectangle. Make the 'S' very broad. In the dialog of Pattern alon Pa...

Re: Northern light (Aurora Borealis) effekt.

One possibility : Make a Rectangle :tool_rectangle: , do path:object to path, make a bezier curve, that does what the aurora is supposed to do (some kind of S shape, possibly) Select the rectangle, :tool_node: , make it a little less "rectangly". :tool_selector: make it the uppermost Objec...

Interesting feature. What do you use it for? It introduces the transform attribute to the layer - any layer added afterwards does not have the attribute - no idea if this is bug ot feature

Could you be more precise on where you enter those numbers, and when the last time was that that gave you an elliptic curve / ellipse?

btw: i see no worksheet in your data - how did you do that? I'm afraid I don't know what you mean -- what's a worksheet? By data, do you mean the info in the xml editor? The virtual "sheet of paper" that marks the working area in Inkscape. It usually is A4 oder Letter or whatever Default ...

Re: select objects with same color

You open the XML Editor (under Edit) and look for the color used (select the object on the canvas, and it gets highlighted in the XML Editor), copy the color (it is one of the values in "Style" e.g. fill:#ffff00 and insert it into the Style Box in the Search Dialog (Strg F) Hit enter enjoy!

Re: JPEG Artifacts

jpg is mostly blur, so "preblurring" the images might help having faithful copies in jpg later. Also, even if the application is making a jpg, you should be able to choose the compression, and at no compression, jpg is, for all purposes, a bitmap, so there should be no problem with artefac...

Lovely! Especially the way protruding endings could be disposed of was very smooth. I so hope this stays in the public domain and is not made into payware. EDIT: I just read the paper: Most work seemingly went into 3D related issues - So the sketch-a bezier part might not be so hard.... What ...

Re: ASCII Art Earth

I concur on the trickiness of the Trace option - but it is worth it, and could, with more tightly spaced words, give a nice result.

For selecting the right characters i propose underlying the picture for reference and then "drawing" the selection while in :tool_selector: with Alt pressed.

Re: trying a tiled clone w/radial placement

Hi Brynn. Nice beach creatures in the file :-) In the XML Editor is a clue to the conundrum: All the "bad" layers have a "transform : translate[..]" attribute, where the values for translation are not near zero (the fourth layer has a translation attribute that is 10^-6 so neglig...

Re: Logo Principles (neuron)

I like the realistic spirit, you even added dendritic spines, but a logo should held simple - try cutting on the number of dendrites, give some roundness to the cell body, and try to make the axon more like a tube, i.e not varying in thickness. The branching of the axon is something most peaple are ...

Wood texture is still great, you got the shadows right in this one - i like it.

What happens if you do that? Sometimes the trace is so good, you wont even notice its there - try moving the pic around to see whether it already traced. Also: Make sure the image is selected (in a little line-cage) when tracing, otherwise nothing will be traced. With the jpg, in the dialog, try: Mu...

Not sure i understand your request : Euclidean Space only has three axes, XYZ, if you choose to illustrate the positive and negative parts as arrows from 0/0/0 , you end up with 6 arrows As to the practicalities: If your picture is about a 2d shape, you could do a compass rose or whatever, then copy...

Look into the "options" tab of the tracing dialog, there are most of the settings that will simplify your tracing, thus 'loosing' the details. Or is the problem that the original is working with, and using, colors? If you post a pic similar to what you want to trace, maybe we can help you ...

Depends. If you want to lock it to the value you just used, you can switch that on in the preferences (Inkscape, not Document) in the menu for the tool you are using. If you want to lock it to the color below (on the figure), you might want to try the calligraphy tool, which lets you alter propertie...

You could edit the Preferencfes, so the last-drawn object stays selected (may already be on) and set the InkscapePreferences -> Misc -> Simplification Threshold to 1.0 At that Threshold, any selected path will be reduced to its endpoints by pressing Strg+L; So now you only need to press Strg+L after...
