Re: SVG Filters rendering Bug in 0.47

Are you sure there is a line? With me (0.46 on XP), the Filter often does seem to generate a line, but really only has troubles rendering the filter. Or, if there positively is a line -> In the Filters Dialog, there is a Filter General Settings Tab, in which you can set the area that the filter will...

Re: Flowcharts

The Flowcharts i am used to only incorporate ovals, triangles, squares, squares-standing-on-edge and circles. And of course Arrows. The Ovals are best done with :tool_rectangle: - simply drag the little circle at the edge to the middle to make the edges so round it looks like an oval. Triangle, Squa...

plot upside down, then isn't...

I have a plot, that was made by a little tool in Matlab (dates from 2006). It is basically the svg rendering of a Matlab plot. It comes out just fine, with a little glitch: When i try to open it, it looks fine in the preview of the opening dialog, but then is upside down when it is finally open. As ...

Re: make Lines/Arrows on dark background stand out

The Gradient idea requires mulit-joint lines to be drawn as separate lines, that makes rearranging a little fiddly; - i'm still tinkering with the Filter solution: I thought a Color Matrix, that gets its input from a Guassian Blur of the source image (-> blurry black line)disregards it (all zeros in...

Re: make Lines/Arrows on dark background stand out

The black line shows by itself on the lighter background, on the darker background the white blur gives contrast to it. There is a way to make a line to be always a contrast-color to its background, but i do not like that effect. So the question is: White halo as one-click trick? - Here goes: (sorry...

Re: wikipedia svg has unalterable objects

yes - that did it. Thanks a lot. the lines are called "svg:line" and ( if they have more than one node) "svg:polyline" in the XML editor, and i always assumed the (straight) output from Freehand and Bezier would also become thus, but they all simply become a path...

[solved] wikipedia svg has unalterable objects

I just tried to alter the downloaded version of this drawing , but some objects, most notably the lines connecting annotations to their associated objects, can be selected, but not altered with the node tool - why is that? Addittionally, in the XML Editor the image looks quite weird Can anybody comm...

make Lines/Arrows on dark background stand out

I'm trying to put some names and descriptions close to a drawing i made. The drawing is mostly dark shapes, on a grey background - what i'd like to achieve is a black line from the name to the object, that has a blurry white background. Using two strokes, one of which is fat, white and blurry is, of...

Re: Severed Fifth "Tilted Crest"

I just tried clone-tiling a 700+ node object 40x40. the Object itself gives an 80kb file, the version with the 1600 clones (shifted, rotated, colored and blurred) comes in at 840kb. The rendering grinds my computer to a crawl for some 5 minutes, though. Are you sure it is the cloned tiles that bloat...

How did you end up with 18MB, though? is it the grunge look? Did you vectorize the bitmap from the cover?

Re: Erros in transformation algebra

Why do you call the Transform->Scale product wrong? the x and y origin shift by 1/2 width and heigth, respectively, in other words, the center of the rectangle stays where it is. That is as should be. When manually scaling it (with the mouse), you can press Shift to switch between Scaling 'Out of th...

Re: First Project - City Map for D&D

Very nice houses, but i second the call for streets - right now, every way is a back alley. Some houses should be very tight, leaving only room to scrape in between, while there should be some paths that could accommodate a cart (- you did that in the upper middle). The :tool_tweak: offers a possibi...

Try Scribus - export as png, import in Scribus and export as pdf
Or try Krita (under Linux)
Or Try the Gimp, with this plugin

Looks good - what does "simulated" mean? Do you take the image as a backdrop and then embellish it, or do you copy it? Or something else alltogether?

Pattern along Path gives unexpected results with Groups

A while ago i noticed a group of rectangles used as Pattern along a circular Path results in StarTrek like controller patterns ( Picture But now i am getting erratic results: a group of (upright, unrotated)rectangles, a circle, Pattern along Path (no offset) results in the rectangles "tangling&...

Re: Sinusoidal 'Hatching'

For this, you need one of the current development builds, but then it is fairly simple. Make Sine Waves using the Effects->Render->Function Plotter. Best Make sinewaves with about 20 nodes per x, about 10 x long. (You need a rectangle for the funtion plotter to work in, the sine will inherit the lin...

Your pics really are very good - i best liked the Messerschmidt. The neck of the F16 pilot is a little too realistic though, everything else has much more of a "posterized" look to it. In the gif you posted, that snaps from outlines to colored, i like the outlines version better  it h...

Strg + + ? i did not recommend that.

"Strg" and "Shift" and " ) " is what i mean. (You could go to Path > Outset, too.)

If Strg A does not work for you, just work at one blob at a time. Select one blob, Do "Outset".

RTFM is never wrong, though some people are very slow at digesting information, and not very apt at distilling their question into searchwords, so they are often disheartened by the wealth of information (and chaff) that makes a forum. The Launchpad site has a nice feature, which might be p...

Re: Development builds: Easy to install and sexy new features.

I just tried the debug tool as recommended in the link, but as i don't know anything about debugging, i'm not sure if i'm doing it right : The Link says there should be individual xxxyyzz_dbg files for every build, but i only find one xxyyzz _fulldbg. I assumed that they had switched to a one-for-al...
