Re: How to center text on path ?

That doesn't work llogg, maybe I'm doing it wrong. I did find that you can add spaces to the beginning of the text to position it.

He has to translate it, he might have to use special characters that are not standard for all fonts. (If that's true, the cloud font wouldn't work).

Are you sure you're looking at the right file? You're exporting as a bitmap (PNG) right? Do you have the correct option (page, drawing, etc)?

Re: First Project - City Map for D&D

Maybe you could duplicate all the buildings, paste that on a semi-transparent layer above, and then use the random color generator I've heard about but never ever tried using to make random shades of brown and whatnot to make varied rooftops. :? You could probably make a layer below the buildings an...

"EZ Splat" Using Star and Make Symetrical Button

Ok, I figured this out like 10 minutes ago. 1. Draw a star, the number of corners will change your splat :tool_star: 2. Path-->Object to Path 3. Pull some of the nodes of the star outward, make it a little random. Try to make a pointy version of the splat you want. 4. Drag and select all the ...

Re: Giant standing behind a building

Are you trying to combine the original pictures, or are you trying to transform them into lineart or something? If it's the first thing, you might want to try the Gimp instead of Inkscape. But if you're vectoring it, could you provide us with the pictures to get a better idea of what you're t...

Break a Process?

Sometimes I accidentally click on the wrong target, causing Inkscape to try to perform an operation on some particularly complex path. This usually results in Inkscape freezing up (or seeming to). Is there a way to abort operations?

Inkscape over Illustrator, Why? (Discuss)

I started using Inkscape because it's free and open source. Prior to that I had been using Adobe Illustrator. (Ummm, a trial edition ;) ) But honestly, I like Inkscape better. For one, Inkscape has the align dialogue, which is incredibly useful, as well as many other seemingly basic things not in Ad...

Re: Mirrored node movement and definite-relative positioning

It depends on which way you move the node. It's not based on a line of symmetry. It would be like, you move a node x pixels left, so the other node moves x pixels right (or -x pixels left :geek:) Here's a little example (note: the user is only dragging one of the nodes) http://i158.photobucket.com/a...

Mirrored node movement and definite-relative positioning

Mirrored node movement: 1. Select a node in a path of 2 or more nodes 2. Press 'Mirror Node Movement' button 3. Select another node in the same path 4. Now when one node is moved the other node also moves, but in the opposite direction. 5. End mirror behavior by selecting either node and clicking t...

Re: selecting multiple objects changes blur value

It does that with a few other values as well (gives you the average). I don't know the reasoning behind it. However, if I notice a weird value like "1.333" when I'm selecting a bunch of stuff that should have the same value (1), I know that something is off. :| I just set it to 1 and it fi...

Re: Grids, and making a Floor Plan

Yikes. I just tried working with the guides and they are confusing. Try making your own grid using squares. -So you want a 20x10 room? OK. -Go into document properties, on the first tab, set the size to 20x10 (switch the units to feet) -Draw a square, make it a square foot. (Again, change the units ...

Re: selecting multiple objects changes blur value

If you double click on a grouped object, you will select it as if it isn't in a group. You'll notice that the blur value is the same as before your grouped it.

When you're done editing, Remember to double click somewhere on the canvas to resume the group behavior.
